05.01.2022 Today, Australian author Mark Greenwood had a Zoom chat with our Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 students all the way from Western Australia! Mark explained the behind the scenes of his books; Jandamurra, Ned Kelly, Simpson and his Donkey, Boomerang and Bat, The Book of Stone, The Happiness Box, History Mysteries and many others... In order to write Jandamurra, Mark had to be tested. ... He was told that if he wanted to write a story about a test of courage then hed have to test his own. Mark entered caves, climbed through crevices, caught fish for lunch with Mr Andrews and had goanna for the main course! Mark had to wade through crocodile infested water to see the tunnel that is featured in the story of Jandamurra. Read his book to find out what happened to Jandamurra in the dark, mysterious cave. Some advice from Mark: Find the thing you really love, read about it and learn about it! You may find ideas for some stories of your own. When you write stories, they dont always start off looking neat and nice. Mark makes lots of mistakes along the way. Sometimes the first version of the story you write isnt the best one! Mark finished off by challenging the students to use the clues in his Diamond Jack History Mysteries book to find a great treasure. Young, curious investigators can put his clues together and solve some mysteries... There are many more to be solved! #wac #wollondilly #wollondillyanglicancollege
