In today's episode, Naomi Stewart speaks to historian Dr Gareth Millward from the University of Warwick, on the history of vaccines and how vaccination programmes have evolved in the 20th century. Professor Liam Smeeth from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine then walks us through the vaccine landscape at the turn of the 21st century, and public perceptions and attitudes towards vaccination in a COVID-19 world.

22.01.2022 Tree & forest declines related to air pollution have been observed with industrialisation in the countries of Northeast Asia & their causes have been shifting... depending on the time period. In recent years, chronically high ozone concentrations may have had adverse effects on tree physiology in conjunction with the #ClimateCrisis. Monitoring air pollution is also important to identify the cause of tree decline.

20.01.2022 Environmental experts and community groups are stepping up their fight to save the St Kilda mangroves from dying off further by uniting to form a powerful allia...nce. The St Kilda Mangroves Alliance say over 10 hectares have already died, equivalent to five football fields. It breaks my heart to see what's happening here. There is still hypersaline brine in that pond poisoning these mangroves, Deputy Labor Leader and Shadow Environment Minister Susan Close MP. 11.01.2022 ne quarter of Rio's population live in favelas, with social marginalization, inadequate infrastructure, and unaffordable energy supply with prices doubling in the last decade. This low-income population perceives energy services as expensive, unreliable, unfair, low quality and distant from their reality. Revolusolar partners with two favelas to co-create a new affordable, community-based and sustainable energy model, aligned with the traditions of collective action and self-...management of these territories. The solution includes solar installations, professional training to local residents as electricians and solar installers, and workshops for childrens on sustainability. In 2020, we're implementing the first solar cooperative in a favela. The financing model includes institutional sponsors and a rental component: the solar beneficiaries pay a monthly fee (part of the savings with the electricity bill). We expect this pilot to be the beginning of a Solar Revolution, aiming for sustainable development of low-income communities through solar energy. See more
