24.01.2022 Thought monsters are creatures that force us to harden our view on life. But worse- they stiffen the way we observe the least pleasant things. For example, if ...I want to succeed on a test, the MUST Monster will appear and tell me I must succeed!!! If I lose a game, the All or Nothing Monster will show up and tell me Oh, no. Not again. And just give the Only Bad Monster some leverage and witness my ice cream fall to the floor, and that’s the only thing she’ll remember from the entire birthday. To make sure we don’t fall victim to these monsters, we need to: Identify them Know their sentences Make sure to greet them in our room or thoughts with a nice big Hello! How are you today? I’m glad you’re here but I’m not free today. It would be great if you could come back another time. (If we’re polite maybe she won’t be insulted) So, remember the steps: Step one: identify the monster with the help of the thoughts running through your head. Step two: observe your thought. Don’t automatically believe her. Rather give her a curious look and check to see exactly what kind of monster she is. Step three: the exercise. Choose one of the exercises and do not cooperate with her. See more
