23.01.2022 Piano lessons have resumed this week! So wonderful to meet the new students and hear the music played over the holiday break. Looking forward to a great year with a great bunch of students.

22.01.2022 I have just found these marvellous clips of Leonard Bernstein and Glenn Gould. So interesting. Gould, however, sits appallingly! His hands are low and he has a regular seat, not a bench. And I think at the start his knees are crossed! He was also known to be quite eccentric. He can be forgiven because the music is so sublime.

I have just been reading this blog by the wonderful Elissa Milne (the Sydney based composer of some amazing music that your children are probably learning). She confirms that 4 days of practice and parent support is required for progress and also confirms there are different levels of progress - I like the saying that you need to practice on the days ending in 'y'. Support is also required to enable children to move past the 'I don't want to practice' moments. She also addresses the issue of motivation and the role parents have in sustaining interest. This is a performance practice opportunity for the children and a chance for them to meet other children from the studio.

07.01.2022 The piano concert is just 11 days away! I hope you have all booked your free tickets on eventbrite - I need to know numbers for seating and catering ( yes catering!) I also trust that practice is happening at every opportunity! I went to the venue today and it will take at least 45 minutes on a Friday afternoon ( if not an hour) to get across town to the Australian Piano Warehouse... 200 Rosslyn Street West Melbourne. Hence, I am adjusting the start time to 7 pm to help us all get there on time.
