Australians who return from overseas will still need to isolate themselves for a fortnight. If you have a temporary visa and you are outside of Australia, DO NOT TRAVEL to Australia. DO NOT ATTEMPT to arrive in Australia. If you attempt to enter Australia, your visa may be CANCELLED. Please take the travel ban seriously.

08.01.2022 Detector dog Petal nose when to hold em’, nose when to fold em’, nose when to walk away and when to respond. Petal and handler Alison were on the beat at Sydne...y Airport when golden girl Petal responded pawsitively to the seam of a hold bag of two passengers arriving from China. The first passenger had declared fresh vegetables and the second passenger had declared fresh lotus and fresh herbs in one bag. Collectively, the passengers had failed to declare 855 grams of sausage, 1.5kgs of duck, 430 grams of dumpling, 375 grams of eggplant, 4.9kgs grams of fresh lotus, 440 grams of beans, 250 grams of tofu and two boiled eggs. Both passengers were issued with infringement notices. Meat products pose a huge risk to our agricultural sector with the threat of African swine fever (ASF) currently spreading through a number of countries. An outbreak of ASF in Australia would have significant impact on Australia’s $5.3 billion pork industry, as well as the 36,000 jobs that depend on it in rural and regional areas. Passengers may face visitor visa cancellation if they don’t declare high risk biosecurity items. Returning Australians who do the same could face criminal prosecution or civil court action. They could be ordered to pay up to $420,000 and be sentenced up to 10 years in jail.
