Drugs contribute to about one in five road fatalities in NSW and increased drug use by drivers is a trend across the world as the rate of drink driving has fallen. The increased rate of drug use by motorists was a cause for concern, which requires increased testing and more drug counselling services, says road safety expert Dr M...Continue reading

06.01.2022 To all HEMP Party members - Membership Review 2020 If you are a member of the HEMP Party you're vital for us. The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is checking our validity as a party yet again. It’s a standard routine they do regularly to all parties who don’t have a member of parliament. We have to send the AEC a list of at least 500 members and they will then check some of them to make sure we haven’t taken names out of the phone book! If you are contacted by the AEC, ...we need you to just confirm that you are a member of the HEMP Party. To help us send them a list of members who we can rely on to confirm their membership, would you please reply to this message confirming you are one who will. There’s a summary of the AEC rules here: hemp.org.au/join/periodic-reviews Staying Determined We are in an extraordinary moment in history with Corona as well as Cannabis in Australia and never was it more important to have a voice for the average toker against the government’s plans to control the supply of medicine. We need to be allowed to grow our own personal supply and authorities are flat out trying to stop that happening. I have seen with my own eyes how legal regulated Cannabis is simply no big deal for the general population The only people stopping it in Australia are vested interests, like Big Pharma and the police. It’s a good time to ask your local MP’s to ease up, like they have in Canberra. Cannabis is our medicine of choice, in states of America and Canada they have deemed supplies as essential along with other foods and medicines during the pandemic. Keep the HEMP Party registered for the next election Please confirm you will respond to the AEC if they contact you. Reply to the HEMP Party member's email with; ‘put me on the list’ Thank you for the continuing support. Yours sincerely, Michael Balderstone HEMP Party President PS. 03.01.2022 George Dickson was on remand at John Morony Correctional Centre in July 2018 when he was required to participate in a session with other inmates. When introducing himself, the man in his forties said he was a political activist and member of the 'marijuana' party. I want to set fire to each police station in the state and country to teach the ‘state’ and country a lesson and hit them where it hurts financially the unsentenced detainee continued. I would like to blow up Par...liament House. Dickson was locked up after being found guilty of smashing the windows of two police vehicles in Nimbin in May 2018. It was the last incident in a long series that for the most part saw him making written threats of violence against authorities in demonstration against the impacts of the 'drug war'. The anti-'war on drugs' campaign Dickson waged began after an initial Cannabis possession conviction in his home state, SA, in 2016. Following appeal, he was sentenced over the police car window property damage to 9 months imprisonment, which ended in February 2019 ... in breach of his parole requirements Dickson took off and was located in SA ... extradited to NSW, he was sent back to prison to serve the full length of his sentence, which expired last November ... Psychologist Chelsey Dewson administered tests to assess whether Dickson posed a terrorist threat post release and found him moderate to high risk of unlawfully using violence against person or property to attempt to intimidate, coerce or influence government agencies. The justice considered assessment of psychiatrist Dr Anthony Samuels, who reasoned Dickson hadn’t really engaged in any acts of terror or extremism, he wasn’t associated with a terror organisation and showed signs of mental illness ... a moderate threat. The doctor recommended rather than an ESO in NSW, where he may become more resentful under restrictions on him it would be best to send him back to SA where he’d be with his family ... Justice Ierace noted the defendant’s legal team asserted Dickson’s intention in making threats was an attempt to draw attention to his political cause ... supported by Dr Samuel’s assessment of the attention seeking nature of the bomb threat his Honour set out he was not satisfied at the time Dickson made his threats of violence he had any intention of carrying them out ... any future such threats would be the same. I am not satisfied to a high degree of probability the defendant poses an unacceptable risk of committing a serious terrorism offence if not kept under supervision ...", his Honour went onto find the best way to ensure least risk to community of a serious terrorist act was Mr Dickson return to SA at the earliest. 20 February this year, Justice Ierace dismissed the state’s submission, ordered no further consideration be given to imposing an ESO ...
