21.01.2022 Seriously cannot get enough of this little mealworm gremlin Regular health checks are an important part of the care of wildlife in captivity. It gives us a chance to make sure each animal is in tip top condition, but also gives us an opportunity to get great snaps of greedy little gliders! Leaf is one of our resident Mahogany gliders, and if there's mealworms around, so is she!

18.01.2022 Ringo being cute during his health check on Tuesday. Ringo was quite shy when he came to us, but now he's happy to have his health check provided he is rewarded with some yummy leaves at the end.

15.01.2022 Yesterday our students and researchers got together to watch the Australian Mammal Society's Annual Conference, and held some of our own conference events as well! Well done to those students and staff who presented at the conference, you all did brilliantly! One of the events we had was our own poster session, and it was great to see the diversity of research being conducted at Hidden Vale. Congratulations to Kaylah who won the award for best poster! And finally, thank you to everyone who dressed up in the theme of 'Ecological Fashion' and congrats to Jennie who took out the People's Choice award! Which outfit is your favourite??

10.01.2022 We start them early at Hidden Vale! Our Research Manager Dr Julia Hoy and her family recently welcomed baby Georgia to the world. She has already sat in on seminars, workshops, and PhD meetings so is being well immersed in the world of conservation! Welcome to the Hidden Vale team Georgia!

10.01.2022 Every day we check our animals to make sure they are happy and healthy. Leaf always likes to take the opportunity to try and get an extra snack from our staff members, sometimes even climbing out of her nestbox to make sure we don't forget her.

09.01.2022 Its Gilbertas 8th birthday today! As a special treat she got some yummy banana and mealworms...although she seemed to mainly want the mealworms for a snack! Everyone wish her a happy birthday and well pass along your messages to her at dinner time!

09.01.2022 We have a little colony of spinifex hopping mice here at the Wildlife Centre, and recently they had babies! How cute are they?! Did you know that Australia has over 50 species of native rodents?

08.01.2022 EDIT: Thank you so much for the overwhelming responses. We have had a lot of people contact us, and as such we are going to put a pause on any more towel donations for now. It means the world to us to have so many people willing to donate to our koala project Our koala team would love donations of any old towels, bed sheets, or cot sheets to help with vet checks for all the monitored koalas within our Koala Project. If you have any youd like to donate, please drop them to the Hidden Vale Wildlife Centre, or if youre in the Brisbane area PM us for an address to drop them to!

However, these little ones don't currently have names, and we want your help to decide! To vote, simply comment the emoji of the names you like the most below! Muru (means nose in the Yuggera language)... Snooty McSnootface Pandi (from the term 'Pandi-kokkku' from which bandicoots were named) Lord Snootington Lady Snootington Kaya (means hello in the Noongar language) Sir Snoots-a-lot Tinsley (suggestion from one of our staff members) We will also welcome suggestions to be messaged to us!
