If you can’t offer them a home but want to help, please share this post with your community so that we can find them homes and save their lives.
23.01.2022 It was a monumental day for our own Simon Vivian today, overseeing his final #InglisPremier. Simon will be sorely missed and while he will remain with us until after #InglisEaster, we spoke to a few of his closest peers about his 44 years of industry service.

21.01.2022 With a huge influx of applications for the 2021 State Camp, selectors had a tough job to decide on just 12 riders per discipline to attend the 28th Annual State... Camp at Sydney International Equestrian Centre in January. With over 130 entries for the camp and only 72 positions available, you can just imagine how difficult it was. Dressage had the highest number of applicants, which is great sign of the strength of the discipline within Pony Club. For those that weren't selected this time around, we hope you try again next year - and also put in your Expression of Interest for the 2021 Nationals (and training clinics) here https://pcansw.org.au//2021-national-championship-team-eois Please find all riders selected for the State Camp 2021 here https://pcansw.org.au//g/78/selection_list_for_website.pdf Half Steps Photography
19.01.2022 The countdown is on! Entries for the Sydney Jumping Championships will open at 7pm on Thursday (November 19). And, while you're contemplating what classes to... enter, please take a few minutes to check out the details of the 'SSJC Stallion Service Raffle' and be at the ready to grab a ticket (or two) at the same time as registering for the Championships. As always, we're beyond grateful for the incredible support of all of our Sponsors, and we can't thank the owners of each stallion enough for their generosity. All proceeds of the raffle will go to SSJC. We can't wait to see you all at the (COVID-19 safe) Championships from December 4-6, 2020!
16.01.2022 Just found this fantastic article and diagram explaining bending and turning and the importance of having the horse connected between your inside leg and outsid...e hand. ‘MORE INSIDE leg!’ or ‘more outside rein’ is a common comment by Trainers and coaches. (I say it all the time ) What does it really mean? It means that your inside leg creates the energy when riding, and your outside rein regulates it. The inside leg, being at the girth, asks the horse to bend around it. Then the outside rein is there to elastically maintain the horse’s shape around the inside leg, by supporting the inside aid so the horse doesn’t move away from the leg. Your inside leg and outside rein should constantly be talking to each other and coordinate. If you were to only use the inside leg for instance, without the support from the outside rein (and leg), the horse would move away from the leg instead of around it, and he would fall out through his outside shoulder. Using the outside rein and leg we can support the outside of the horse. The inside rein is used as a direction by opening the hand to guide the animal to the direction your wanting to go. By turning your body and shoulders your horse will find it easier to turn and bend around the inside leg. Of course, it’s not just the inside leg and outside rein that’s doing all the magic. They are just individual instruments in the orchestra of aids that combined creates the symphony of harmonious riding. But they do play important parts of the beat. If you want to be sure you’re riding on your outside rein: Do a shoulder in, and let go of the inside rein. In walk, trot, and canter. The movement should not be disturbed if you’re coordinating the aids correctly. *correct bend shown on the right of the diagram
12.01.2022 HAVE YOU SEEN THIS HORSE ??? Missing in SE QLD. SAHA's rescue horse "Lily-Rae" is missing.... We desperately need public help to locate our horse. Last adopted in South East Queensland and has been given away or sold whilst on a strict adoption contract with our charity. Do you know someone who has our beautiful horse? We are asking people to step forward and let us know if you have seen her. We assume whoever bought her had no idea that she is microchipped to SAHA and remains the property of our charity. SAHA Adoption Contracts do not allow anyone to sell or give away our horses, and unfortunately that is exactly what happened to Lily-Rae. We are so worried for her welfare and a report has been placed to the Stock Squad. If you have bought or received this horse, we are asking you to come forward and have discussions with us about the situation, as you have been illegally sold a horse. SAHA horses remain the property of the charity for life and we guarantee every horse we save to be under the umbrella of our charity for their whole lives. If you have any information about the whereabouts of our beautiful Palouse Pony, please contact us confidentially by emailing [email protected] or text / phone 0412754070 Please note: whoever has this horse now has done nothing wrong but we need to find her immediately..

03.01.2022 Squares...in the horse world we ride a lot of circles. In riding circles we find our horses falling to the inside or outside or falling on their forehand’s, not... maintaining gait etc. Those issues come from lack of balance. Think about riding straight lines and square turns. Start riding with more outside or bridle rein to help balance the horse and use less direct, pulling, gee haw rein. Use your bridle rein to not only push your horse but think about using your bridle rein to rock the weight over the haunches, lightening the front end so you can ride a square turn. When you’re good at long straight lines and turning corners shorten your lines, ride an octagon then when that’s good you ride a circle but it’s a series of short balanced straight lines and corner turns. All coming from the bridle rein and your body. In this world of circles be a straight square.
