24.01.2022 Brett Milburn was truly Brett the Jet in round 9 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series at Hamilton’s Western Speedway last Saturday 15th. A front row start for the final alongside a resurgent pole sitting Grant Stansfield, put Milburn in a great position and it wasn’t long, about lap 6, when he took the lead from Stansfield and was never again headed, although Peter Doukas ran him down to make a race out of it over the closing , traffic filled laps. Milburn was a...n absolute jet in clear air with no lapped traffic and also set the races fastest lap. A few times the slower cars allowed his pursuers to close up, but he kept on managing to put a car or two in between himself and the chasers. A couple of yellows helped to place Milburn back onto a clear track but it wasn’t long each time before he was back in amongst lapped cars. After slipping from 3rd to 4th at the start, Doukas then worked hard and a slight error from Stansfield allowed Doukas to slip under for the runner up spot but he couldn’t match the leader in clear air who was working the mid track and high line to perfection. A clear track didn’t stay clear for too long and over the closing few laps, Doukas used Millburn’s conservatism with traffic to close right in to the point of even having a look up the inside. I got a bit too cautious and Peter (Doukas) and I actually made slight contact when he put the nose under my left rear late in the race but I knew we had a fast car and just had to bring it home. Stated Milburn who extended his championship lead after dire nights for championship rivals Jordyn Charge, Bobby Daly and Chris Solomon. Charge who was second in the points hurt an engine in hot laps and couldn’t set a qualifying time and despite the team’s best efforts were unable to fix the engine. Charge has maintained 2nd spot in the points chase but is now even further behind. Third placed Bobby Daly didn’t contest the event so has slipped to 5th. Solomon was unlucky also having ridden the wheel of the car ahead on the start of his first heat, when the field went, then baulked up. Solomon’s car pulled a wheel stand before slewing into the fence hard and damaging the chassis. the team however repaired the car just enough for him to be able to start his second heat and the B-Main just to get some valuable points. Stansfield’s third place in the feature launched him from 5th to 3rd in the points. The action was on from the start with the track in great condition and very drivey as Terry Rankin found out when he launched the nose of his car skywards in a monster wheel stand that shut down the engine when it landed. Stephen Spark was the only other driver to suffer anything significant when he spun and the momentum tipped his car over after earlier having a nice heat win. The next round is this weekend at Heartland raceway Moama 22nd Feb.

23.01.2022 McHugh by Two Queenslands Lachlan McHugh is riding the crest of a wave right now with supreme confidence in himself and his machine as he has headed south to continue his domination but this time against some of, if not most of, the nations best Sprintcar racers. McHugh has been emphatic in taking the Kings Challenge win at Mt Gambier on Friday night and then backed that up with the win in the first night of the Fifty for 50 event at Warrnambools' Sungold Stadium last night (...Jan 22). McHugh showed his intentions from time trials into his first heat before putting on a show in the A-Main. McHugh and Darren Mollenoyux put on a show of fast side by side racing in the opening laps before McHugh settled into the lead as those behind constantly shuffled the deck with "Molly", James McFadden, Brad Keller, Grant Anderson and Matt Egel absolutely blistering around the clayway. Just when it appeared that McFadden was starting to run down the leader a caution appeared and on the restart Egel launched an attack that propelled him into second and from there he continued to chip away at the gap to the point that the lead two were nose to tail as they took the chequered flag with Mollenoyux completing the podium. Let me tell you, these guys were simply the quickest things ever around this track and every lap was a hold your breath moment as they powered on perilously close to the walls at speeds that you were positive they wouldn't be able to avoid an impact, but yet they did. The Format was a bit different and not to everyone's liking but if you haven't got your tickets for tonight's action, then you may well be missing another incredible show. Even the support categories were exceptional with veteran Ewan McKenzie taking the invitational Super Rod feature while Jacob Mills scored the Street Stock win with a penultimate lap pass after having been sent to the rear earlier on. And on the subject of Streeties, retiring legend Brad McClure was absolutely chuffed to have the honour to give the four wide signal to the awesome Sprintcar feature field.

17.01.2022 McFadden takes fifty for 50 as McHugh crashes back to earth - hard. James McFadden led home a Warrnmabool trifecta in the Claytons Classic - the Fifty lap fifty for 50. Jamie Veal and Darren Molenoyux completed the podium. Molly was also part of the incident that saw McHughs run end in a steaming mess that also claimed the innocent pairing of Matthew Reed and Grant Anderson.... All drivers were okay. Earlier Brayden Cooley rode out a similar wicked wreck and was then hit buy Kristy Ellis. Again, both drivers were okay. More detail and photos to come soon.

17.01.2022 Sell out Classic gets stellar feature. The Sold Out sign was put up early, about 3:00pm on Australia Day January 26th, for the running of the 48th South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Warrnambool’s Sungold Milk Stadium. This was the second time in the past few years that this has happened and comes on the back of a record Friday night crowd and a near record Saturday night crowd. Despite a field stacked with some of the best American talent ever, it was a...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Bogucki bags his biggest win @ Night 1 of the Classic. Adelaide,s resident American sprintcar racer Scott Bogucki stunned a packed crowd with a fighting win in the opening night of the 48th South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. Bogucki fought it out for the win with James McFadden, the pair sharing the lead from time to time with McFadden finishing runner up and Californian Tim Kaeding grabbing third.... The other great run of the night belonged to Sydney's Troy Little who started 19th in the under-powered and ageing Steve Lynch owned N20 before running as high as third after passing the big guns like Kaeding, and defending champion Robbie Farr. The little, geared down engine however was laking kick on the restarts and following a late race restart, Little was marginally unable to hold of a couple of better funded and powered teams before finishing a very creditable sixth. Night two, tonight (25th), follows this mornings fan appreciation session and features the second half of the awesome 100 plus car qualifying field.

13.01.2022 J-Mac is the new President of Avalon Raceway. On the heals of his Allstar $10,000 win at Heytesbury Simpson Speedway last week, James McFadden kept the wins going and the cash rolling in with a $5,000 pay-out as the new Kings Cars Presidents Cup champion last night (Jan 20) at Avalon Raceway. J-Mac had to work hard in the Monte Motorsport GT Bobcat/Daniel Trucking W17 to secure the win with Jamie Veal, Darren Mollenoyux and Corey McCullagh all in a fairly tight battle for the... minor positions with a bit of shuffling going on amongst the latter three with Molly grabbing 3rd for the final time off the last corner. The best racing of the night however was the Street Stocks, who despite having a depleted field had a very even front half of the field with all events closely contested with two, three or four cars nose to tail or side by side at the fly of each chequered flag. In the end though it was veteran Brad McClure and wife Tameka taking the first win of their farewell season in the Routleys Bakery feature from David Barrie and Morris Ahearn. In the Presidents Cup behind the top four came the dueling pair of Matt Egel and Grant Anderson with Marcus Dumesny (who spun twice throughout the night), Brock Hallett and Robbie Farr next. Avalon ace Brett Milburn came from the last transfer in the B-Main to a top ten finish in the Cup event. The crews now all move on to Mt Gambiers’ great Speedbowl tonight before heading down to Warrnambool for two nights of Fifty 4 Fifty action.

10.01.2022 Two half nights and plenty of spills. Ando injured! So far this years Grand Annual Classic campaign has been very frustrating and also very painful for Albury's Grant Anderson who suffered a unconfirmed serious laceration to his lower right leg after a crash at Mt Gambier last night. Until this point Grant had been showing good consistent speed but as he and James McFadden fought for the same piece of territory at the penultimate heat races chequered flag contact was made tha...t apparently damaged the driveline which caused the damage to Grants leg. Rain arrived shortly after Grant was in the ambulance and after a quick rework the final heat was run but then more rain killed the rest of the night off meaning that for the second straight night fans were treated to a full set of heat races only. Hopefully tonight's opening night of the Classic will be the full show.

09.01.2022 Grant Anderson is the MASTER of MOAMA. Grant Anderson proved last night in round 10 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series at Heartland Raceway, Moama that he is the undisputed master of Moama after a near faultless night on a difficult, bruising and fast racetrack. Let the records reflect that Albury’s Anderson has won more Sprintcar features at Dave Roberts’ big bowl than any other Sprintcar racer, this being his second so far this season.... With the speed of the big track, and the choppy nature of the racing surface, it was an extremely difficult racetrack to run, but you wouldn’t know that by the speed that every single racer was showing. In many ways it was a young mans track as you never had even a single second of respite from every single lap cut around the 510 metre track. Anderson, as usual, didn’t time in that well during qualifying but in each heat he got the elbows up and was able to take two heat wins, the only driver to do so, the second one coming by just 0.001 seconds over Adam King. Thus, with a front row start it was reasonably expected he would drive away but Murray Bridges ace wheelman Ryan Jones had other ideas and led the first five laps until an unfortunate altercation with a lapped car saw him ride out a wickedly fast series of barrel rolls while Anderson was hard on the brakes trying to find a way to slip past the gyrating projectile a critical moment in the races eventual outcome. Jones calmly remained strapped into the upturned wreck and then stayed seated while it was righted and rolled off the track before explaining what had happened. Until that point Jones had been enjoying the elbows up nature of the track and was complimentary about the facility. The positive for Jones however was a new one lap record, eclipsing Stephen Lines' mark from about nine years previous. From here on Anderson’s only worry was lapped traffic and he handled it superbly with second place finisher Terry Rankin never really getting close enough to launch any sort of challenge. Rankins run was a storming drive also coming from 13th to 2nd on a tuff track passing the likes of defending series Champion Corey McCullagh and two-time champion and points leader Brett Milburn who ran fourth in another great drive after starting tenth. First casualty of the night was Brayden Parr who stuck the nose under Mark Carlin on the opening lap of their heat, made slight contact and then rode out a high-flying flip into the fence. Thankfully Parr was okay. The Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series now takes a short break until March 14 at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool for the penultimate round.

06.01.2022 Milburn adds Aussie 360 title to arsenal of trophies. Brett the jet Milburn has put himself into a history making space by becoming the only driver to have won both and Australian Wingless Sprint Championship, and now also an Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship following a tight win in the South West Conveyancing 360ci Australian Sprintcar Championship at Heytsebury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway on the March (Victorian) long weekend. The win was also the first for car owner...Continue reading

05.01.2022 J-Mac narrowly and Milburn by a mile. For the second week running, the conclusion to a South West Victorian Sprintcar feature came down to next to nothing as James McFadden took his third win in the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series at Warrnambool's Premier Speedway last night. While McFadden was sealing his third Eureka feature of the season Brett Milburn was securing his third Eureka Series Championship, with a front row feature start and the unfortunate early demis...e of nearest challenger Grant Stansfield. The final, on a wide and racy surface saw a thrilling conclusion when local ace Darren Mollenoyux, despite going upside down in his second heat, trusted in the teams efforts to repair his machine and chased McFadden to the line coming up marginally short after a storming run. Albury's Grant Anderson also put in a solid run against the wall to snare the final podium position. The win also helped cement McFadden's lead in the Parr Motorsport Track Championship. From the Eureka Series point of view Milburn wrapped it up with a front row start in the feature followed by a solid and speedy run until bizarrely on a restart he tagged the wall before he got to the restart cone and was sent to the rear for forcing another restart as cars scrambled to avoid him. In the end it didn't matter too much as Milburn has an unassailable lead in the championship even if next weeks Avalon final does go ahead amidst the corona virus epidemic.

04.01.2022 Can you feel it? The buzz is really starting to build with the 48th South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Warrnambool's Sungold Milk Stadium just over a week away. Entries currently sit at 109, yes 109, with ten of Uncle Sams best among the mix, including previous Classic winners Mr Excitement Tim Kaeding and Shane Stewart.... A couple of other American highlights include Kyle Larson and Carson Macedo in a potentially potent two car outfit fielded by Sean and Felicity Dyson. And then there's the kid Gio Scelzi. Scelzi stunned the Avalon crowd and James McFadden with an audacious last lap pass for the win on debut last year but then ran foul of bad luck and Australian rules that killed his Classic Challenge. There will be no silly mistakes this year you can bet on that. When last Buddy Kofoid raced here he arrived in a world of hype and massively under-delivered probably because in reality he wasn't used to the prodigious power of a 410. Since then he has grown and matured and has had a great season in the US 410 ranks raking up multiple wins with Tony Stewart's All Star Circuit of Champions and will be a much different proposition this time around. Fellow Californian Cory Eliason is a real shot this year having shown strong pace everywhere in the Steve Stathy owned machine including a win against his compatriots at Valvoline Raceway. His statesman Kalib Henry is an unknown quantity but former Knoxville Nationals winner Tim Shaffer isn't although he has yet to show his best on his visits down-under. Saddled up in the Brad Keller machine Shaffer should be a strong threat however. McKenna Haase, the "American Ninja" will bring something else to the Classic and is sure to be a favorite with the younger generation of fans but she, like Kofoid previously, is still yet to come to terms with harnessing a muscle bound 410 Sprintcar especially on a small bullring. The hoard of proud Aussie's, and a controversial Kiwi if you like, will be hell bent on taking the cash and humiliating the "yanks". The down under challenge will obviously be led by those with successful American histories including Kerry and Ian Madsen, the graying Brooke Tatnell, James McFadden, Steven Lines and some Aussie based locals such as previous winners Robbie Farr and Corey McCullagh or the new breed of young gun like recently crowned Australian Formula 500 Champion Jock Goodyer. No matter what, it's shaping up as a huge weekend with the Presidents Cup at Avalon kicking it off on Wednesday 22nd followed by Mt Gambiers' Kings Challenge on Thursday 23rd. Throw in the Classic breakfast, the fan appreciation day and the launch of Tony Loxley's stunning new book Sprintcars 2 following the breakfast and you've got a full throttle weekend of unbelievable action. Don't go there if you're expecting a relaxing, sleep filled weekend - it just won't happen.

01.01.2022 No Kontroversy for Kalib Henry in $10,000 All Star win but plenty behind as Reed toughs it out for Aussie pride. Unheralded Californian Kalib Henry put the entire Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway on notice with a stunning drive last night that netted he and the team $10,000 by winning the All Stars Challenge. Henry started from position 5 in the 35 lap feature in the beautiful candle apple red Trevor Green owned Adrad Radiators USA4 and passed defending champion and cou...Continue reading
