25.01.2022 37th State Titles: Change and New ground. The 37th WA State Championships were Run this weekend at Port Bouvard Yacht Club on the 3rd & 4th of March. The origin...al starting fleet of 24 was whittled back by some late withdrawals however when the 1st gun went off it was the usual spectacular sight of colour. After a wait for the breeze Saturday turned on a strong Southwesterly while Sunday provided a fading land breeze which changed the game in many ways. 1st overall was Ryan & Nic in 3195 Going Gonzo 2nd was Ferry and Kate in 3174 Black Butt 3rd was Felix and Alex in 3137 Dark Star Junior Champions were Merrick and Ella in 3167 Shake n Bake Simon Barwood Sailing with son Tyson took home the Masters in 3104 Under Pressure. The Pang brothers in 3172 Kraken Up won the Family Championship. Vice President Mark Skid Robins Sailing with wife Nat won the Classic Boat Title in 2851 Flash as a Rat with a Gold Tooth. Consistency was taken by team IKA Monika and Annika in 3050 Consuming Passion. The Teams Trophy was defended by the RFBYC team. Some big firsts this year. 1) the first time we have run the event outside Easter 2) the first time hosted by PBYC 3) the first entrants from Koombana Bay SC & PBYC. 4) We had sailors from EFYC, SOPYC, HYC, NYC, MBSC, KBSC, EBYC, MOFSC, PBYC & RFBYC.....10 CLUBS in all!! A huge thanks to Mike Storey and his terrific team at PBYC. I can say with certainty they have a fantastic bunch down there. We promised a relaxed, simpler and easy to be involved event and I am pretty sure we delivered. Official results and photos thanks to Raelene Mariani to come in due course. PS: Happy 21st Emily Jones for today.

24.01.2022 A fun sailing activity to show Dinghy sailing to HYC members, friends and family. Sailed on the north side of Hillarys Boat Harbour, on Saturday 10 February. A great day with good weather and good friends to sail and celebrate with. Thank you to the many people who provided photos.

24.01.2022 Another break in. We had another break in yesterday, during the day time. The following items have been stolen and we would appreciate the communities help to f...ind these items; - Small, red first aid kit, clear top - Red starting horn and timer (converted plastic toolbox) - Entire window and frame from the office (this has completely disappeared from the area). This is on top of the following items stolen previously; - 18hp Tohatsu outboard - Large, plastic, orange tool kit, tools included - Another first aid kit - Electric drill - Fuel and containers - Small (childs), yellow surfski with paddle There may be more missing we havent noticed yet as well. None of these thefts are covered by insurance and were really struggling to finance replacing the various items.

18.01.2022 A bit off bad news to start the year off Im afraid. Some time between December 28th and January 1st we had a break in at Sun City Yacht Club. The Tohatsu outbo...ard motor used on our rescue boat along with the fuel tank and a jerry can full of two stroke fuel was taken from the shed in the boat yard. To add to the bad news we have now found out that our insurance wont cover the theft. While this is a set back Im sure we will be able to sail on Saturdays and still have a rescue boat on the water. If anyone hears of a 18hp Tohatsu outboard, tank and jerry can for sale please contact a committee member as we do have photos and serial number of the stolen outboard which have been passed onto the police. Regsards, Wayne Hartas Commodore. See more

18.01.2022 A strong easterly breeze of 18 knots with much stronger gusts tested the skills of crews in the penultimate consistency race off Hillarys on Sunday. Many boats ...opted not to use spinnakers and those that did came to grief on occasion. The new sails on Seachange (H Burton, D Shirdon, M Castalanelli & J Gregory) served them well for a first and fastest in division one with Salamander (B Bradford) second and Perle (J Bird) third. In division two Volant (K Scheckel, F Hagemann & K Meta) had another win pipping Tropical Itch (T Brooke) and Farrouk (L Burrows & R Hernaman) with Covert Operation (G Atkinson & B Brouwer) fastest on the day. In the accompanying Viking Trophy race, Tropical Itch was first followed by Volant and Pandora (R Giraudo). Pandora got in some early practice for the man overboard race (its a bucket actually) when a crewman actually did go overboard however he was recovered quickly. In division three (jib and main only), Brian and Rita Buzzard sailing Sana 11 two-up handled the conditions superbly to record a first and fastest with Pandora second and Sensei (B & L Bailey) third. Thanks to John Bird for the write up!

16.01.2022 Day Two of Geographe Bay Race week and the weather gods turned it on causing drama on the course, jibs and spinnakers blown, one Yacht dismantled and towed in by The Volunteer Sea Rescue (thanks guys) Race Abandoned, did it really get to 47 knots on the course as reported by one skipper?

07.01.2022 Message from Dubbo received earlier today ! What 2 days ago was just an inconvenience has now become a pain in the ass our port steering cable broke to days ago... and we thought it wouldnt be an issue but now that the weather forcast has us on port tack with 30/35 knot winds for the last 250 miles including Osaka harbour we have decided that it must be fixed so tonight when we are meant to be in a light 5 knot breeze and the heat has gone out of the day we will pull the port steering apart and attempt to replace the broken cable anyone who has stuck their head down the rear compartment on Kraken will realise this is not as simple as it seems there is next to no room and it is stinking hot down there so while everyone is enjoying their friday night drinks think of us and have one for us on hopefully our last friday at sea cheers everyone 850 to go or 4 Geros Kraken currently sitting in 2nd IRC - picture of tracker below Osaka here we come, shore crew flying Wednesday :)

02.01.2022 Cow Rock 2018 races were again successful with lots of Dinghies sailing amongst a smaller than usual group of anchored yachts and power boats, just off the beac...h on the north side of Hillarys Boat Harbour. Light winds for the first two races and a fresh sea breeze for the third race. Celebrations afterwards with spectators from the anchored boats were in the wet bar. A very enjoyable day for all. More photos are in the photo Album for this event. See more

01.01.2022 We had a good attendance for this mornings Practice & Training session, with nearly 30 Dinghies participating in the sailing activities to the North of the Boa...t Harbour. It was terrific weather for a sail and also a swim for some people. It was great to see a lot of people from the recent school holiday sailing courses, and we can look forward to seeing them each week as part of our training activities on our race days. Thank you to everyone who helped on the support boats and the onshore tasks. See more
