21.01.2022 In line with our new social distancing laws, we at Hilltop are legally obliged to respect the Prime Minister and Premiers requests to follow the 1.5m distancing requirements. So, after careful thought, and because I really my life, in the coming months, I hope that you and I can try to follow these guidelines. Please dont be offended if I ask you to step back. I often do that anyway, to gain control of your dog so that I dont have to stretch over the examination ta...ble. 1. Most consultations will be conducted outside. 2. PLEASE try to limit the number of people you bring to consults to one healthy person. If youre unwell, send someone else with your patient please. 3. Where possible, pay in advance for food, medicines etc so that staff can leave these outside for you (or pay afterwards by phone if youre a regular client) 4. Staff will wear a mask in consults for protection of all of us. Ask If youd like one. We arent sick, just trying to stay safe. 5. Discharge instructions will be by phone and admission of patients will be very brief. PLEASE dont ask repeat questions. You all know Im intolerant 6. Our Operating Theatre and Treatment Room will not be open for visitors. (The windows and doors are made of glass, so no big deal.) Please do your best to stay 1.5m away from staff members. This is a new experience for all of us ..... Lets all stay positive and kick this rotten virus, and stay safe. Thank you so much! Dr Fay, Jen, Natasha & Vic See more

19.01.2022 Greetings to all our Hilltop friends! You may be aware that since December 2018, I have again returned to full time employment, which usually means a 60-70 hour week. 19.01.2022 Proud Mum (me) heading to Melbourne for Wednesday & Thursday. Many of you will remember my eldest son Leon who is also a vet who specializes in anaesthesia and pain management. After years of study and research in pain control, he is being awarded a PhD from Melbourne University for his work in pain management. Unfortunately I have not been able to locate a locum to manage Hilltop for Wednesday/Thursday. So I have to close the door for just 2 days. Apologies for this, but its a very special award, and great to know that his research and work is recognized. Thanks for your understanding! Kind regards, Fay My boys, Leon and Daniel...and not forgetting the special one, Rebekah!

14.01.2022 This week we have had the pleasure of welcoming clients back ‘inside’ the building. However, I’m sure that many of our canine patients have much prefered their consults outside in the fresh air. It has been a challenge to maintain social distancing with many procedures, but we’re doing our best! The long weekend is fast approaching and I have decided to take a rare break of 3 days. So Saturday, Sunday and Monday we will be closed. There will be emergency contacts on the do...or and the phone, but you will be fine! Until then, we are open 8-6 as always! Enjoy your week! 13.01.2022 To all our clients, if you have a few spare dollars to spare, please consider sharing it towards the people who are helping out the animals and wildlife affected by the catastrophic fires that are happening in the country at the moment. Below are two organizations we can suggest. Feel free to list any others you know about in the comments... WIRES Wildlife Rescue wires.org.au... Koalas in Care koalasincare.org.au

12.01.2022 Still open for business ... but PLEASE, just one person from each family when you visit. Also in the light of the seriousness of things, it may be advisable to order your petss medicines for the next couple of months. We have a big supply of foods and also cat litter but the cat litter is limited to 1 bag/family. It was a tad disturbing to see a woman snigger behind my back yesterday when I asked her to step back. Please remember your manners and remember I dont set the rules. Stay safe dear clients, Dr Fay.

11.01.2022 Dear Clients, I regret any inconvenience to you but due to a family event in Albany, Hilltop will be closed for our usual Saturday hours of 8-1 this Saturday. However, all will be back to normal from 8am Monday morning. I hope to enjoy a very happy 5th birthday with one of my rarely seen grandsons. Thank you for your understanding. Dr Fay

08.01.2022 Meet Teddy, my last patient yesterday. He visited us for his annual Calici virus vaccine. Hes a super cuddly Angora bunny who is house trained and shares the house with a cat with attitude, called Iky. Theyre good mates, proving that many animal species get along just fine. Also, please dont forget your vaccinations for all species . Enjoy your weekend! Kind regards, Dr Fay

08.01.2022 Yesterday was a tragic day for a beautiful young dog, her family and me. She was a joyful dog, only 2 years old, cared for by a beautiful family but at only 2, suffered from an inherited kidney disease and needed to be put to sleep. She was a result of irresponsible dog breeding ... money making. In another home, she would have died in her first year. She wasnt this girl below, or this breed, but she was equally or even more beautiful. Much love goes to her family from myself and staff. Her owners fought a mighty fight to save her. I really thought that her lovely owners were cat people but now I know they are both cat and dog people. Dr Fay

08.01.2022 Lively Trixie is keen to run just like any kelpie, but after tearing the cruciate ligament in her knee, she was walking on 3 legs. This is Trixie just 10 days post surgery. Shes doing SO well. Dr Fay was surgeon and our new nurses Angel and Lis assisted hugely with anaesthetic monitoring and other nursing care. With her owners care in rehabilitation, shell be running freely in a few months.

07.01.2022 Please keep an eye out for this lovely girl.

06.01.2022 Just letting you know.... If youre feeling off colour or running late from work and need medicines or food for your pets, we can leave it in our after hours pick up box. Youre welcome to pay over the phone. Also, if youre feeling sick, please let us know before arrival so that we can use our masks and see you outside with your pet. Cheers!

06.01.2022 Happy Easter to you all at this difficult time. Stay safe and stay home and if needed, we have a big range of all youre likely to need for your pets. If needed, we can deliver to your mailbox. Days have been quiet here for two days, so please if poss support us rather than on line businesses with no overheads. Happy to match prices. Sadly, our two nursing staff do not qualify for any subsidy and they are valuable to us all.

05.01.2022 Anxiety is a very common and stressful problem in dogs. It can present itself in many forms. Annoying barking due to separation anxiety, destruction of owners property, whining, or just shy, anti social mannerisms. There are many options for managing this anxious behaviour including professional training, medications and nutraceuticals such as Complete Calm (Tryptophan plus multi vitamins). Handsome Benn, below has greatly benefited from these tasty chews, according to his owner. His calmness was evident after a very short period of time! Youre welcome to call in with your pet for a free sample. I havent had a dog refuse one yet! Plus, theyre nutritious and take the edge off all those scary things that could worry your dog. And for anxious cats? Well arent they always more complicated! cheers! Dr Fay

05.01.2022 Oh my goodness, how cute can a toy poodle be? Pippa recently came to Hilltop for her sterilisation, called ovariohysterectomy. She was a perfect patient. Jaimie, our veterinary nurse with extensive training and experience, monitored her recent anaesthetic. Dont you love Pippas fashion statement? And it kept her warm and toasty post surgery. We loved having her

05.01.2022 The Easter bunny, Teddy, is boarding at Hilltop Veterinary Hospital for Easter. If you know any children who would like to visit him on Saturday morning 8-1, they are very welcome. Enjoy your Easter break if you have one . Dr Fay

05.01.2022 It was a pleasure to have dear Misty with us today for a very unpleasant tooth root abscess. Dental abscesses often present with facial swelling mainly below the eye. Misty has had a massive swelling below her left eye for a few days. It was so bad this morning that her eye couldnt open. Under general anaesthetic we found a fractured molar and extracted it. We then flushed the facial abscess and provided antibiotics. She also had a damaged 3rd eyelid which needed surgical removal. Misty had several forms of injectable pain relief... and was mainly a model patient... but at 13 ... and a terrier, youre allowed to be a little cranky... we still loved having her though!

05.01.2022 Dear Clients, just letting you know that we at Hilltop Vet Hospital are open from 8-6 Monday-Friday 8-1 Saturdays. Ive had several clients this week ask if we are moving from 4 Canning Road. Id just like to say that we are staying put...must be a silly rumour. Most clients know that I basically live here, so please ignore any correspondence to the contrary. Thank you for your loyalty and support. Dr Fay

04.01.2022 Some positive news ....

04.01.2022 Billie Jean visited Hilltop this morning. Dr Fay is really taken with the little griffon pup.

04.01.2022 Thank you for your support when collecting your food, medicines, flea treatment and worming tablets etc. Many folk have been happy to pay over the phone and collect 24/7 from our unit 6 pick up area. Dog consultations are conducted outside and cat consults inside with myself. The phone is quite busy so please just leave a message if we dont answer. We will get back to you. Well get through this very trying time. Wishing you kind regards and thanks everyone! Dr Fay

03.01.2022 The look of shame ... up 800g! Next week will be better. We all know your pain Daisy. Dont be worried
