Dear parents/carers, I have been notified today by the Deputy Secretary of the DoE that the eSafety Commissioner is aware of distressing reports about a video of a suicide circulating social media platforms. eSafety has contacted social media companies about the reports and will continue working with them to monitor the situation. I strongly recommend keeping your children offline and off social me...dia (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok) for the next couple of days if possible, and heavily supervise all social media interactions until this content is removed. 15.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers Welcome to Education Week 2020! The theme for Education Week 2020 is Learning Together. This also happens to be the school motto of Hinchinbrook Public School, so makes it extra special. Our students are involved in activities that encourage them to work together every day. To be able to work together they need to develop skills in communication, sharing, problem solving, collaboration (working with someone to create something), taking turns, accepti...ng a difference of opinion, and learning to cope with failure and success, just to name a few. The students at Hinchinbrook Public School begin learning these skills from the day they enter our school in Kindergarten, and build on them each year as they head towards High School and beyond. I congratulate out students on their ability to be the best learners they can, both individually and together. I also acknowledge the learning together our staff undertake continuously throughout the year, as improving our skills and understandings as teachers, brings the best opportunities to our students. I thank all our staff for the care, commitment and dedication they show towards our students, and the difference they make to them. I would like to offer my thanks on behalf of our staff and students for the understanding and effort all of our parents have put in together to keep our school safe at this time. We know you must feel quite distant from the school at the moment, but your support is felt very strongly by putting the safety of all of us, as your priority and following our requests. By learning what is needed at the moment, in these unusual times, and following it together YOU, as our parent community are excellent examples of learning together. Thank You! All of our classes will be completing activities together throughout the week, and will share examples of this with you on Thursday. As we still require adults to remain off site, your childs class teacher will let you know how this will be done with their class. It may be through TEAMS, Class Dojo, Facebook or the school website. We hope to share photos or video clips of the children learning together, or showing the end product of an activity. We hope you enjoy our Virtual Education Week and look forward to the return of sharing special events together again. Stay safe everyone! Kind Regards Mrs K de Falco Principal
