18.01.2022 Our much-loved team member, Yvonne, has recently celebrated 10-years of sharing the amazing life story of Bert Hinkler. Here are a few of her thoughts... FAVOURITE MOMENT When Sunrise came and presented the morning show from the Hinkler Hall of Aviation.... THOUGHTS ON BERT HINKLER He was a pilot, mechanic, navigator and record breaker all in one. Our solo hero. THOUGHTS ON VISITORS It’s like a movie people need to experience it for themselves and then we are there to answer questions and fill in any parts they may have missed from the story. I like to do it that way. You don’t want to be a spoiler. MOST COMMON COMMENT FROM VISITORS The facility is world class. MOST ASKED QUESTION FROM VISITORS What else should we do while we are in Bundaberg? (It is great that we can showcase our beautiful Region) FAVOURITE EXHIBITS The original Avro Baby aircraft and the Armstrong Siddeley. HARDEST MOMENT The 2013 floods were devastating with water inundating the facility, however we all got in and cleaned up the mess and now we are better than ever. 20-20 has been hard with our COVID closure, but re-opening after these events was wonderful. WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW? I am still embracing the new archive system that we are implementing. So far it is just great. Navigation and processing are so much easier. FAVOURITE THING ABOUT YOUR WORK DAY? Every day is different and the window to our world (the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens) is lovely!
