24.01.2022 The NSW Premier Cricket grand finals have been run over the Easter weekend with some impressive performances by players who came through the HKHDCA junior, senior and representative ranks. Jack Nisbet who only 3 years ago lost an U/16 GF for Castle Hill RSL, has won a 1st grade premiership with Sydney CC. Opening the bowling, Jack (3/23) took the crucial first three Manly-Warringah wickets. Northern District's 3rd grade were undefeated all season to win the premiership with 8... players who played cricket in our association: captain Clayton Waters (Redfield), Hame Fullagar & Lachlan Ford (Normanhurst-Warrawee), Jayden Camp & Josh Miller (Mount Colah), Yash Patel & Cam Tunks (WPHC), and Ben Randall (Kissing Point). Northern District's 5th grade were also victorious with 11 players who have played in our association: captain Paddy Murton (Berowra), Richard Johnson & Srivaths Narain (Hornsby), Anthony Bartlett (Kissing Point), Luke Quinlivan & Gian Gill (WPHC), Riley Mackay & Lachlan Soles (Castle Hill RSL), Alistair Weston (Thornleigh), Jack Nati (Kenthurst-Upper Hills and ARL), and Warren Saldanha (Mount Colah). We are particularly happy for Richard who has done a fantastic job preparing our turf wickets at Parklands and Berowra this season. A hugely successful season for Northern District Cricket Club - 2020/21 Club Champions, who also won the Women's 1st grade final, and earlier in the season, the AW Green Shield. See more

15.01.2022 Play abandoned Saturday 19th December for all HKHDCA competitions. With the growing covid cluster in Sydney’s northern beaches, the HKHDCA executive have decided to abandoned play for Saturday 19th December. The executive has made the difficult decision in the interest of the welfare of players, coaches and parents. We believe this is a responsible approach to the health alert in helping reduce the risk of spread. We recognise a number of players either reside or have visited... the Northern Beaches LGA in the past week, with the government recommending those who reside in the area to avoid unnecessary travel. Earlier today CNSW cancelled games in the NSW men’s and women’s Premier and Shire competitions, as well as postponing the NSW Youth Championship grand finals. This was based on CA’s chief medical officer’s advice of the strong possibility that the outbreak will extend to other parts of Sydney. All IDCA games scheduled for Sunday have been postponed to 31st January.

14.01.2022 The Coaches' Association has released the official programs for the U/15 Ross Turner Cup and U/13 Glenn Hourigan Cup, following the annual ‘showcase’ matches that were played on Sunday, 7 February 2021 at Turramurra: RTC bit.ly/RTC-7-Feb-21 GHC bit.ly/GHC-7-Feb-21

Special thanks to the Kookaburra Sport Key Account Manager, Cameron Eve, for arranging for this gear to be delivered today for distribution to the award winners.

14.01.2022 As we enter the T20 double header round of the NSW Youth Championships, HKHDCA have 3 teams in semi-final positions. U15 Weblin chased Sutherlands 8 for 141 with 7 balls to spare to overtake Sutherland into the lead of their conference. U13 Gee Shield defeated Sutherland by 2 wickets, to secure 2nd spot on the table. Lucas Medford perhaps wished Sutherland scored a few more runs, stranded on 97 not out. U12 Cawsey shield are also 2nd after their 4 wicket win. The U14s showed great fighting spirit, recovering from 6 for 16 to reach 9 for 106. A 34 run last wicket stand between Jye Johnson and Regan Bridgewater helped set a total they almost defended, with Sutherland only winning by 2 wickets. John James taking 4/27. Our 2 division 2 teams were unable to chase down some big scores set by North Shore.

08.01.2022 Round 1 of the NSW Youth Championships was held today, with Hornsby sharing the spoils over the 6 games. Last year’s Moore Shield premiership team opened their U15 Weblin Shield campaign with a win over Inner West Harbour. Hornsby 5/229 d IWH 127. Sidhant Singh continued his good batting form top scoring with 83. The boys were presented with their 2019-20 premiership caps and medals during the lunch break at Barker College. The U14 Moore Shield had a heart stopping 1 run vict...ory. Defending 92, IWH were 9/69 and almost pulled off a brave win. Regan Bridgewater taking 4 for 16. The reverse happened in the under 12s. Chasing 135 runs, Hornsby fell just 2 runs short with 3 balls to spare. In the U13 Gee Shield, Nicholas Blackmore batted through the innings for 80 not out, but it was not enough to reel in IWH imposing total of 9/224. For our division 2 teams, the U13s lost by 9 wickets but our under 12s won by 73 runs with Jacob Hanlon taking 3 for 6. See more

07.01.2022 The senior grand finals were played under sunny skies last weekend . In the A grade grand final, minor premiers Berowra were in a bit of trouble at 5 for 68, but recovered well to score 264. Brad Fiedler top scoring with 62. Glenorie District had a similar start to their innings at 5 for 64, and were bowled out for 172. Cooper Davenport cleaning up the tail with 3 for 1. In A Reserve, Berowra had a convincing 126 run victory, bowling out Normanhurst Warrawee for 49. Berowra'...s 3rd premiership would be in C grade where they defeated Sydney Lions. WPH Cherrybrook won the most premierships, with their B Reserve, C4, D and D2 teams winning their respective finals. Two teams won premierships after being promoted during the season. Kenthurst secured an 18 run win over Berowra in B grade, and Thornleigh won outright after winning on first innings with a slender 9 run lead. 07.01.2022 A GRADE UPDATE Following a rain-affected round 1 where only one A Grade game was completed, it was great to get an uninterrupted day of cricket in to kick off Round 2. In a rematch of last year’s semi final, last year’s runners up Hornsby sent Berowra in to bat at Parklands and had them under early pressure at 4/55. Scott Griffin (45) and Andy Rayner (108) then combined for a 73 run 5th wicket partnership to steady the ship for Berowra. The powerful Rayner struck 5x 6s and 1...1x 4s on his way to his first A Grade century to put Berowra in a strong position. Brad Fiedler also contributed a handy 54 to set Hornsby 257. The Berowra quicks did some damage with the new ball before stumps to leave Hornsby reeling at 4/24. Reigning premiers Glenorie District won the toss at Kenthurst Park and elected to bat against WPHCCC. Glenorie were under pressure losing 4 early wickets before Liam Tully (45) steadied the ship to set WPHCCC 139 runs for victory. Gav Taylor was the pick of the bowlers for WPHCCC taking 4 wickets. Glenorie’s new recruit Pat Lawrence snared a couple of early wickets before West Penno Skipper Phil Wurth (44) led a counterattack which included a couple of huge bombs! The game is poised with West Penno needing 54 runs for victory with 5 wickets in hand. Kenthurst opening bowler James Dowers had a day out picking up 4/56 off 20 overs against ARLCC. Veteran James Simpson-Lee (58) and Denver Rego (29) top scored for ARL who posted 151 at Storey Park. Kenthurst got off to a positive start but a couple of late wickets to Sahore and Green have left Kenthurst 2/53 at stumps with plenty of work still to do next week. In the Kuring-Gai derby, Tim Love (6fer) ripped through the St Ives Wahroonga middle order as they were bundled out for 111. Scott Cassidy (49) top scored and Hemadri Bargoti (28) was the only other batsman to reach double figures for the Saints. St Ives fought back brilliantly with the ball with opening bowler Sam Whiteley (2/13) and Sam Atienzo (2/9) leading the way in a disciplined bowling display. Kisso are currently 6/34 off 27 overs however only need another 78 runs for victory. Video: Andy Rayner brings up his century for Berowra.

05.01.2022 A GRADE UPDATE: WEST PENNO KNOCK OFF REIGNING PREMIERS GLENORIE West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook got their season off to a flyer with a first innings defeat of reigning premiers Glenorie District. Resuming the day needing a further 54 runs for victory with 5 wickets in hand, Ashane De Silva (16) and Luke Herzog (21) combined for a 41 run partnership to bring the score within reach of Glenorie’s potentially tricky total. Alex Robertson (23) and Michael Richards (22) then put on ...41 for the 8th wicket to take WPHC to a first innings lead. West Penno were bundled out for 189, a first innings lead of 37 runs. Glenorie batted again as both teams pursued an outright result but both teams agreed to call stumps with Glenorie 6/152 later in the day. The ARL v Kenthurst match went down to the wire with the visitors in trouble at 6/102 and 8/132 chasing ARLs 151. Swing bowler Nick Summerhayes 18) joined his captain Anthony Eastwood (20*) for a determined 9th wicket 43 run stand to lead Kenthurst to a gritty victory. Best of the bowlers for ARL was Nick White (5/42) who took his first A Grade 5 wicket haul. A 10 wicket-match for Tim Love (6/18 & 4/8) and a determined batting effort from Kissing Point’s tail wasn’t enough to chase down St Ives total of 111. Tim Love was left stranded on 35* at the end of Kisso’s innings to cap off one of the great A Grade all round performances. Sam Atienzo was the best bowler for the Saints picking up 3/17. Berowra avenged last year’s semi final defeat to Hornsby cruising to a 132 run victory in their match at Parklands. Starting the day at 4/24 chasing 257, rising stars Ryan Brooks (35) and Mitch Brooks (31) both soaked up more than 100 deliveries for Hornsby who from 8/68 staved off any chance of outright to be all out 125. Best of the bowlers for Berowra were Scott Griffin (3/19) and Brad Fiedler (3/33). In Round 3 action, St Ives travel to Berowra in a top of the table clash, while the other two undefeated teams Kenthurst and WPHC will play at Kenthurst Park. ARL host Glenorie at Storey Park while Kisso will take on Hornsby at Turramurra.

05.01.2022 LEIGHTON HAT-TRICK LEAVES REIGNING PREMIERS WITHOUT A WIN The fourth round of the HK&HDCA A Grade Competition provided 4 intriguing fixtures headlined by a match between two of the competition heavyweights, defending premiers Glenorie and ladder leaders Berowra. Mitch Fullagar (54) and Mason Francis put on 53 for the opening stand to put Berowra in a strong position before Mitch Tully led a Glenorie (6/28) comebac...Continue reading
