24.01.2022 Something to keep the kids going - https://www.nasa.gov/specials/nasaathome/index.html

21.01.2022 This weekend is GovHack! What is GovHack? It is a competition where you use open government data to create some kind of product or website that presents the data in some way. Hobart Hackerpsace have a team participating this year. We won a few awards last year! We made a web app that calculates how much money you save or earn by installing a solar panel on your roof, based on building size. It is free to enter, you get food and snacks for free too!... If you're looking for something to do this weekend, this might be something. But please register soon so they can know numbers for catering.

20.01.2022 One of the sights you may see when living in Hobart!

14.01.2022 Please act responsible and do your bit to help. It is not hard and you could help slow down the spread.

12.01.2022 All, Due to the current pandemic situation and restrictions put in place on public gatherings in enclosed spaces we have had no option but to put the health of our members and visitors first. As such, it is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Hobart Hackerspace Open nights have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. Please look after yourself and your family in this uncertain times. We will continue to post updates and information, probably more so now, ...on this page to at least keep you entertained. Regards Mark Steele on behalf of Hobart Hackerspace.

07.01.2022 This looks like a fun project when we can get back into the space https://youtu.be/0ItPfhx3ulw

07.01.2022 Hobart Hackerspace will remain open on Thursdays unless otherwise advised. But we have some notes regarding Coronavirus: If you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with somebody who may have COVID-19, please do NOT attend the space. We will be encouraging hand hygiene and will put up posters about hand washing.... All members are encouraged to swipe in, even if the door is open, so we can keep accurate logs of attendance in case we need to notify people. If you do develop symptoms or are tested positive please notify the committee at [email protected] as soon as possible so we can follow up with other members. For further information please see the Department of Health website - https://www.health.gov.au/healt/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov As more information becomes available we will respond as necessary.

07.01.2022 A belated post about our GovHack entry: SCOOT a web app that shows you if you can travel somewhere by electric scooter, bike, etc by determining the incline of roads, if no roads are too steep. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9c5NF-__qg Website: http://scoot.hobarthackerspace.org.au/... Not quite as good as last years project but we always enjoy GovHack for the fun of making something (oh and free food).

06.01.2022 Our team won an honorable mention for the international people's choice award! That's one more award for us! We're pretty happy with that! Make sure to check out GovHack to learn more about their events

05.01.2022 Not perfect but it is the best dual color benchy printed on the MakerBot for some time.....

04.01.2022 We have a very generous member, Trent, who has recently added text to speech to the access controller, welcoming new people into the space!

03.01.2022 Anyone interested in an old but complete S100 computer? https://g.co/kgs/7vgYXy

02.01.2022 Keeping spirits up.

01.01.2022 One of our members is running a Raspberry Pi workshop! Learn how to use a Raspberry Pi to make a practical project. Open to all. This workshop was partly made possible by Hobart Hackerspace! Perhaps you could bring your Raspberry Pi skills to the Hackerspace?

01.01.2022 Hobart Hackerspace now has a functioning coffee vending machine! There aren't any coffee shops within walking distance of the space, so now your coffee needs are sorted! That makes us the *first* place in New Town with an automatic coffee machine, beating Coles! (by about a month) It's been taste tested, and it's ok, it's better than instant coffee, maybe not quite as good as barista coffee, but not bad for a machine!
