02.01.2022 Today we got a special paint job to show you. It is made by an excellent artist from Turkey, IBRAHIM ÖNER who mainly used Vallejo Model Color. This model de...picts a 1/10 scale German MG42 Gunner bust, from Totenkopf Division located in Kharkov battle (Third Battle, which took place in 1943 in the Soviet Union). Do you like it? HOW TO! FACE On face, I followed the instructions of Jaume Ortiz videos on Vallejo's YouTube channel. I just modulated shadows with violet and green. I preferred lighter highlights for cold effect as the bust was in Kharkov in the winter season. HELMET I used hair spray technique for winter wash. I used IIWW German field grey for the base color. After I finish the winter wash I modulated it with variations of white. Finally, I used pigments and earth wash for weathering. KHARKOV JACKET I used Vallejo German field grey for the base color of the Kharkov Parka. I like middlestone for German uniform modulation. I finished the park with edging and outlining black and sunny skin tone LEATHERS Before painting leather parts on the bust, I searched for references on internet. I changed tones of brown due to the references. I started painting in dark colors to lighter ones. I gave worn effect with sponge technic. In the end I used sepia for wash. MACHINE GUN MG42 After painting the MG with black, I outlined the edges with a pencil. Applying a dark grey wash exposed the details. For metallic effect, I used dark steel pigment. I applied it with my finger. WOOD Oils with dry brush technique is very simple and realistic in painting wood. I used reddish tones for new wood and yellowish tones for old wood. MiG-21PFM No. 4401, 3rd Squadron, 1st Fighter Regiment, eské Budjovice, Czechoslovakia, first hal...f of 1969 second half of 1970 This MiG-21PFM was delivered to Czechoslovakia in August 1966. Its first unit was the 1st Fighter Air Regiment, where it served in the 3rd Squadron, and also received a emblem of a devil with a pitchfork on the nose. It later served in the 11th Fighter Air Regiment. After being decommissioned in 1990, it was exhibited in front of the former Air Force Headquarters in Stará Boleslav, where it still stands today. MiG-21PFM No. 6173, 927th Fighter Regiment, Phúc Yên AB, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, 1979 As a compensation for destroyed MiG-21PFMs, the Vietnam Air Force received even this aircraft with a camouflage used in Soviet Air Force. Original marking of the aircraft was repainted and substituted by Vietnamese national insignia and a red number 6173. The reason for marking the nose of the aircraft by red stars is unclear. It could have meant the shot downs of enemy aircraft during the Vietnam War by Vietnamese pilots flying on specific planes.
