22.01.2022 Coronavirus Update Dear Members & Guests, In view of the ongoing 2019 Novel Coronavirus (Covid19) situation the HBSGFC would like to reiterate that the health and wellbeing of our members and other guests is of the utmost importance, after discussions in relation to the Friday Night BBQ’s during the Coronavirus situation the Executive Committee has determined that going by the guidelines issued by the State and Federal Government the BBQ’s at this point in time can continue t...o go ahead. The HBSGFC under the guidance of the advice issued from the State & Federal government has however made some changes in the rooms. - Effective immediately the hand sanitiser has been relocated to a table near the front entrance door. Please ensure all members and guests use the sanitiser as they enter and exit the premises. - Please endeavour to maintain a ‘social distance’ and keep a distance of 1.5 metres between yourself and others, and do not shake hands, whenever possible. - Please ensure that after you use the premises as well as completing the normal clean that you also ensure to wipe down the tables with disinfectant, as well as the door handles. The HBSGFC will also more frequently during this time sanitise the ‘high touch areas’ of the rooms including the door handles, bathrooms & kitchen. Most importantly if a member, or other guest, is suspected of or is diagnosed as having Coronavirus and has attended the premises in the days prior to becoming unwell please ensure that this is corresponded to the HBSGFC Executive Committee, via phone call to Alan Given, as soon as possible so we can inform the relevant departments, and ensure that any members or guests who may have come into contact with someone who is suspected of or has coronavirus is informed and can then adhere to the 14 day self-isolation and also sanitise & deep clean the rooms. If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact myself or Alan. The HBSGFC will continue to provide updates of any changes to our members and guests and we thank you for support during this time. For more information you can also call the Coronavirus Health Information line on 1800 020 080 or visit www.health.gov.au Thanks Justine

21.01.2022 We are asking Victorians to stop all forms of recreational boating to help stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). From 11.59pm tonight, Victoria is introduc...ing Stage 3 restrictions. There will only be four reasons to leave your house: For essential food and supplies. For exercise. For medical care. And for work and education if necessary. To be clear, the Premier has described exercise as ‘a walk round the block or a bike ride to stretch your legs and get some fresh air’. This does not include recreational boating. Please note that Marine Search and Rescue services do not have the same capability to perform rescues on the water as they normally would. Anyone choosing to head out on the water is putting themselves and others at increased risk. Our advice is to stay home, take the time to inspect your lifejackets and keep on top of boat maintenance, and prepare for when we have the all clear to head back out. If you can stay home, you must stay home. Take care everyone. 20.01.2022 FISHING RECOGNISED AS OUTDOOR EXERCISE IN METRO MELBOURNE We are pleased Premier Andrews has taken our advice that fishing is a safe, family friendly activity ...for Melbournians under Step 2 of the Covid recovery roadmap. From 5am tomorrow you can go fishing within 5km of home each day for up to 2 hours "only where facilities are not required", i.e. such as bank, beach and kayak fishing. Using a powered boat will still not be permitted and we are seeking further clarification about what constitutes a 'facility'. We accept that this restricted form of fishing won't suit everyone. Equally we know of many fishers who are desperate to have any opportunity to throw a line in at their local waterway. VRFish continues to advocate for the safe return of fishing and boating as soon as possible and for Government to guarantee a snapper season. There are many fishable areas close to home than people think. For instance, there are many urban stocked waterways with trout and native fish thanks to the tireless work by the Victorian Fisheries Authority and recreational fishing organisations. You can find Metro stocked waters here - https://vfa.vic.gov.au/db/list-last-stocked-information.
