24.01.2022 Vale - Dennis Livingstone Dennis was a master at communications, having served in the armed forces from 1966 - 1979 as a Major specialising in Army Signals and ...Communications. An active PRO with RMYS, Dennis "applied for his job with the ORCV in October 2001" and was a consistent volunteer with particularly race and admin effort for ORCV. His wife, Helene, assisted club office manager, Ken Black in the office whilst Dennis prepared race documentation, administered club events and was a familiar voice on ORCV radio scheds for many years. His was a huge effort for ORCV. A great man, so sadly missed. From all of us at the ORCV, our condolences go out to his family. 17.01.2022 Great news from Australian Sailing (Vic) today whilst on the water.... Club racing is back to normal in that there are no more crew limits, no need for masks whilst sailing and no social distancing is required while actually sailing. This includes all forms of fully crewed keel boats. Happy sailing

17.01.2022 Mike "Cam Smith" Willesee hosted This is your Life John Erickson. HBYC is fortunate to have John as the Club Yard and Marina Manager for the past 16 years. Not only is he excellent at his job but also a brilliant competent boat handler with all types of vessels. Recently an HBYC member and respected boating professional Peter Roberts "Holdfast Marine" was quoted recently to say "John Erickson knows more about boat handling and Hobsons Bay than anyone ever before." John has been a life long resident of Williamstown and a member of HBYC since 1972 (48 years). He has made his passion of boats his work of choice and this clearly is evident in his daily work.

16.01.2022 Metropolitan Melbourne has entered the Second Step of its roadmap for easing coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions. Individuals are able to go boating and fishing... (powered and unpowered) within 5km of your home and a two-hour time limit applies. Boat ramps and jetties are open. If you’re at a ramp or jetty, you must continue to adhere to physical distancing of at least 1.5m. For marine businesses, changes to restrictions mean that boating maintenance is now permitted with marine and specialist mechanics able to operate as required for safe operation of boats for scheduled and logbook services and inspections. This means that people are now able to take their boats and trailers to businesses that provide boating safety inspections, servicing and maintenance services. This will ensure people are able to have their boating safety inspections completed ahead of the upcoming summer season. Learn more about these restrictions: https://betterboating.vic.gov.au//boating-fishing-coronav/ Stay up to date with the latest health advice by visiting the DHHS website: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus
