22.01.2022 A very interesting night, with guest speaker, retired Superintendent Debbie Wallace , regaling us with stories of some of her years in the Police Force, and what she has been doing in her retirement.

21.01.2022 Some photos from our social visit to Canberra, starting from last night having nibbles in our apartment. Many of us had a guided tour of Lanyon Homestead, and its grounds, first settled by the Sullivan family in the 1800’s. Lunch in The Barracks cafe with the Murrumbidgee River below, then dinner together tonight.

21.01.2022 A wonderful evening celebrating Christmas together at Lilys Bar and Function Centre, Seven Hills.



15.01.2022 Installing Rotary Peace Poles at Guildford Public School and Hilltop Road Primary Scool, Merrylands, to recognise 100 years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand in 2021. These poles will be used as a focus point during various ceremonies during the year, encouraging young students to discuss and value of peace among all people.

15.01.2022 A social night to bring in the second half of our Rotary year. We were happy to be together and welcomed friends and prospective members to celebrate Rotary and the good it does in our local community and the world.

11.01.2022 Rod, Harold and Jenny installing Peace Poles at Guildford Public School, and Hilltop Road Primary School in recognition of 100 years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand 2020 - 2021. These Peace Poles will be the focus at various events in 2021 to commemorate the ideal of peace among all people of the world. Young people will be encouraged to discuss what peace means.



11.01.2022 We met Michael Rabey, from the RC of Burley Griffin at Nara Peace Park , where we heard the story of the park and its Peace Bell, installed near Lake Burley Griffin. Those present were encouraged to swing the pole to make the bell gong and recite words encouraging peace in our homes, neighbourhoods, cities and the world.

11.01.2022 Our final night in Canberra (for most of us) saw us having a delicious dinner at the Canberra Yacht Club by Lake Burley Griffin. Sunday morning many of us went to the Fyshwick Markets, where fresh food products ( fruit, vegetables, seafood, tasty food from different cultures, cakes, breads) were sold. Tomorrow night we meet for another Rotary meeting, where we will hear from a representative from Chris O’Brien’s Life House.

09.01.2022 A great night’s social gathering at Claudia Street Pizza and Pasta Restaurant , enjoying each others’ company and eating good food. Also getting ready for tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup.

08.01.2022 On our recent trip to Canberra, visited The National Arboretum in Canberra. It is a 250-hectare arboretum created after the area was burned out as a result of the Christmas 2001 and 2003 Canberra bushfires. Since 2005, planting has been going on to have 100 forests and 100 gardens focussing on threatened, rare, and symbolic trees from around the world.

06.01.2022 RC Holroyd hosts the State Crime Command Excellence Awards each year. It had to be cancelled this year as a function, but the awards were presented within the Police Department. The NSW Governor sent the following message,

01.01.2022 An initiative of the Rotary Club of Holroyd - instead of giving guest speakers a gift, the speaker signs a book which is given to a local school on their behalf. Each year. a different school is chosen. This year it was Guildford Public School, and the final lot of books have been handed to the librarian Rhys.
