Fashion on the field is a part of the Melbourne Cup and Residents of Brother Albert were aware of looking fantastic in their elegant hats. Number 6, the twilight payment turned out to be the fastest horse in this year's race. Making some of our residents extra happy $$$$ Congratulation to the winners!

14.01.2022 Every year October 1 is observed as International Day for Older Persons. It is a designated day to focus and raise awareness about the well-being and needs of the elderly people. In 2020 senior citizens globally have been the worst-hit by the Covid-19 pandemic as experts have repeatedly said. They are the most vulnerable with age-related comorbidities. In these unprecedented times, loneliness and mental health issues of the elderly people need special attention. We are fortun...ate to have older people around us, whether they are family, friends, or just general acquaintances. Older people are fonts of wisdom, experience, and storytelling. They can inspire us to continue striving or warn us of dangers we are unaware of. We should look to them for guidance whenever and wherever possible. Let us celebrate the wonderful older people in our lives the experience they have shared with us, the care they have given us and the love they have shown us. Let us help older Australians age well and make our communities stronger and more sustainable. Listen to the wisdom of older voices and let us celebrate ageing together for all our lives. Older Australians need our help to live their best life, especially during the Covid-19 crisis. Holy Family Services wish all the best to all seniors.

12.01.2022 Remembrance Day, Honour, and glory to the heroes! In a year when a historical event brought the globe to a standstill, Australians will pause once again to remember another one on Remembrance Day. November 11th is the day when Germany signs the peace agreement with the Allies and ends the Great war of 1914- 1918. Originally known as Armistice Day, November 11 has expanded over the years to solemnly remember all the fallen men and women who have lost their lives in wars, confl...icts, and peacekeeping efforts. 11th November In Poland, it is known as 'Narodowe wito Niepodlegoci'. Polish Independence Day commemorates the re-establishment of the state of Poland. For 123 years prior to 1918, Poland had been partitioned under the rule of Prussia, Austria, and Russia. On that day, many Polish cities organize parades, concerts and very popular the street Race of Independence as it is a Public Holiday in Poland. This day is a very special day for many of Residents of Brother Albert Home. Many of them fought during the World War II and we will never thank them enough for everything they have done for humanity. Residents celebrated that day participating in social events organized by our Lifestyle and Leisure staff.

12.01.2022 Today (17 June) we celebrate the feast day of Saint Br Albert Chmielowski Patron of Holy Family Services. As you may know, Brother Albert organised shelters and homes for the crippled and incurables, soup kitchens for the poor, nurseries and institutions for homeless children and youth. You must be as good as bread, which for everyone rests on the table and from which everyone, if hungry, may cut himself a piece for nourishment is the lesson Brother Alberts unselfish life teaches us. He said also Without love, a cent is just a rough coin, a meal given is tasteless and even hospitality at its best is unpleasant. May we remember his encouraging words and fulfil them in our daily life. Thank you our Residents for their prayers for protection and Gods blessings upon HFS. May God bless you all. Sr Margaret Kozub, Director of Mission

12.01.2022 Traditionally this week is NAIDOC week, however due to Covid-19, official NAIDOC celebrations has been postponed to November 2020.Even a global pandemic couldnt stop residents of Brother Alberts Home from coming together to celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As a part of NAIDOC week activities our residents did some traditional dot painting, they attempted to make aboriginal music and even tried to learn a few words in the language of the indigenous Australians. Others enjoyed listening to aboriginal music and watching documentaries about fauna and flora of the beautiful country we call HOME

As such, a Father’s Day gathering is as much a celebration for adults as the young. This year with COVID-19 visitor restrictions, a physical gathering may not be possible - however, we have other possibilities -sending greeting card, chocolates or flowers, window visits or even an old fashioned phone call can help a loved one feel connected to family on Father's Day.
