Some performances of note were Mark Coventry (Man of the Match), Brendan Williams and Lucas Sunderland got special mentions. Wanderers batted first and scored 6/210 off 40 overs. 14.01.2022 Friday and Saturday Junior Cricket 4th and 5th December It was the last junior games on Friday for this year and for the first half of the season. Rowdy King left his best batting performance till the last game with 47 runs not out, followed by Thomas Cardillo on 23 also not out. Cooper Lando and Ethan Pengelly got two wickets each for 5 and 12 runs respectively.... Some good scores were made in the U15s this week, the best of them was Jacob Machin who hit his way to 30 runs unbeaten. The next best score was 20 runs by both Nicholas Pengelly and Joey Southwell, who was coming back after a few weeks off because of an injured ankle. Corey Heidke was turning the ball well and was rewarded by clean bowling three batters for 11 runs. The pace bowling of Clancy Colls also had some of the batters wondering, he took 2 for 11 as well. It was the last week for the teams in the Townsville competitions as well and we were lucky enough to both have home games. The Under 13 Blue team were up against Norths on the astro, we batted first and posted a very good score of 3 for 161 runs off our 30 overs. Thomas Cardillo was again in form with the bat scoring 36 not out. The other scores of note were Jarvis Dowson 19, Perry Munro 17, Ethan Pengelly 16 and Cooper Lando 15. All the Home Hill players bowled and fielded well but Ethan Pengelly led the way with the ball with figures of 3 for just 6 runs off four overs. We restricted Norths to a total of 116 off their 30 overs in what was a very fine team effort with bat and ball. Our Under 15s were playing Northern Beaches on the turf on Barry Richards Field this week. Northern Beaches batted first and due to our economical bowling and tight fielding were all out for only 57 runs. Brock Harrington was in the wickets again this week getting 3 for only 2 runs off four overs. Corey Heidke spun his way to 2 wickets for 12 runs and Rian Berryman grabbed two catches. I think the both teams thought it was a T20 game instead of 40 overs each because the whole game only lasted for 41 overs combined. We made 85 and was all out in the 23rd over but it was enough to come away with the win. Brock Harrington was our top scorer again this week on 19 runs followed by Nicolas Pengelly on 14. It was good to win both home games before the Christmas break to end the year on a high note, hopefully to carry it on in the new year.

07.01.2022 Junior Cricket- Friday and Saturday 26 and 27 March, 2021 The junior cricket season wrapped up last week at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Cricket Grounds in Home Hill. We mixed the under 13s and under 15s on Friday afternoon for a fun game to finish off the 20/21 season. The scorers were given the afternoon off so no stats were recorded for this game, it was just an enjoyable game and all the children had a good time.... It was back to business for our Under 13 Blue team on Saturday morning as they were playing Wests in their last T20 of the regular season in Townsville. We won the toss and elected to bat first and was soon one wicket down for 19 runs in the third over. Our batters then settled and a couple of good partnerships by Rowdy King, Thomas Cardillo, Leo Olditch and Lucas Town helped us reach a respectable total of 172 off our 20 overs. Lucas was our top scorer this week with 38 runs not out, followed by Rowdy on 32 runs. All of our bowlers bowled very economically so after 10 overs Wests had only 26 runs on the board. We didn’t get a wicket until the 15th over but by that time the win was out of reach for them. Only two wickets fell in Wests’ innings and both were runouts by direct hits from Thomas Cardillo. No bowlers got wickets but it was lack of runs scored by Wests that won the game for us. Three of our best were Lucas Town 0/3, Rowdy King 0/4 and Sienna Lago 0/5. Home Hill won the game by 98 runs and it was then down to a countback of runs for and against during the season to see if we were into the final. Unfortunately it was a mere 5 runs differential that put us out of playing in the final of the T20 season. Saturday afternoon was the 20/21 presentations of awards and trophies for the Home Hill Cricket Association. This is the culmination of a season which started back in October last year and for some of the children had them playing up to 40 games of cricket in Home Hill, Townsville and other parts of Queensland. I think most of the senior players present were impressed with the impressive statistics of some of our junior players who received trophies. Thank you to everyone who helped this season See you all next season and keep practising Happy Easter and enjoy the holidays

05.01.2022 Wrap up of the 2019/2020 Home Hill junior cricket season. The first half of the season saw a good roll up of new and returning players, it was great to see some new children and their parents enjoying the game of cricket. A high level of skill was shown in both the U11s and U14s on Friday afternoons. We had 6 boys selected in North Queensland representative teams this season, they were: Under 12 Nate Di Bartolo... Nicholas Pengelly (Vice Captain) Under 13 Corey Heidke Matteo Felesina Rian Berryman (Shadow) Under 15 Jack Gimson We entered an Under 13 team in the T20 and 35 over competitions in Townsville. This team was undefeated in all of their T20 games and convincingly won the final against Norths. The 35 over competition was cut short because of the Coronavirus when we were just coming into the finals. The boys only lost one game (round 1) all season up to that point, so we were very confident in doing well in that competition as well. There were many great performances from our boys in Townsville this season, with special mention going to Ethan Pengelly who won the Trophy for Best Bowling Average for this competition. It is hoped that we will enter teams in more age groups next season so we can show more teams how we play cricket down here at Home Hill. Thank you to everyone who prepared pitches and kept the fields watered and mowed in Barrys absence. Thanks also to the coaches who gave up their time each week and the parents and grandparents who helped out with scoring, umpiring and in the canteen. We hope to see everybody back next season, please stay safe and healthy. Thanks Scott See more

02.01.2022 Friday and Saturday Junior Cricket 20 and 21st November, 2020 Some good quality cricket was played on Friday afternoon with all the batters making runs on the astro this week. The best was Perry Munro who scored 12 which included two fours. Emily Town bowled really well and ended with figures of 3 wickets for just 5 runs and Ethan Pengelly also got into the action with the ball grabbing 2 for 7.... The batting training in the nets on Monday must also have worked for some of our older players as a few of the under 14s made runs this week. Corey Heidke topped the score sheet with 35 off 31 balls, Nicholas Pengelly not far behind on 33 off 39. Matteo Felesina was 20 when he was run out and Clancy Colls was bowled on 19. The wickets were shared around the bowlers but Jacob Machin was the most lethal and economical getting 3 wickets for 3 runs. Nicholas Pengelly was spinning the ball on the turf pitch and took 2 wickets for 8 runs. The Under 13 Blue team had a bye so it was up to the Under 15s to fly the flag for Home Hill Cricket this week. Another early morning start saw us competing against Sub Parks at Endeavour in Townsville in a 40 over match. We lost the toss and was sent into bat and were soon one wicket down for only 12 runs. The next four batters did the job for us piling on another 189 runs with only one wicket falling, ending up with 226 runs in total. Salvatore Cardillo and Nicholas Pengelly both retired not out on 73 and 72 runs respectively. Nicholas was also our best bowler this week with 2 wickets for 20 runs off 7 overs in Sub Parks’ unsuccessful run chase. We won the game by 86 runs in what was our best batting performance yet in the Luke Feldman Trophy 40 over competition.

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Home Hill on their convincing victory over Norths Townsville Dental Centre in the final of the T20 Plate (U13) this morning at Riverway Oval...!
