25.01.2022 Last week we celebrated International Womens Day! International Womens Day is a powerful global platform that drives action for gender parity, while celebrating the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women. The specific values that drive International Womens Day are: Respect Justice Dignity Hope Equality Collaboration Tenacity Appreciation Empathy Forgiveness. This years theme; #pressforprogress seeks to unite communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. This theme and these values are embedded in our school culture, behaviour code and wellbeing policy. We know from extensive international research that education is the key for changing outcomes for women and girls and improving the outcomes for everyone within a community.

13.01.2022 Gong Hei Fat Choi! This week we proudly hosted a wonderful community celebration to acknowledge Lunar New Year, which included a Chinese Lion Dance, sponsored by our local business partner Suttons Honda, who joined us for the celebration, as did representatives from Taylors Group, builders of our school redevelopment. The Lion Dance was an enthralling display of colour, energy and excitement. Year 3 students performed two New Year songs, for the first time. Celebrating the diversity in our community demonstrates the respect we have for each other in our school and connects us with a global perspective.

10.01.2022 This week we celebrated Harmony Day. This is a significant day of cultural respect and diversity, inclusiveness, and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background. The Day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The message of Harmony Day is everyone belongs and it aims to connect people, knowledge and ideas for positive change. This week, more than any other we were clear that not on...ly does everyone belong, but everyone matters. Now more than ever, we can see how interconnected we are, and how our actions have local and global impact on well-being. Amidst the tension everyone is feeling, it was a delight to hear the Harmony Day song, sung in classrooms across the school and to see the messages of inclusion, belonging, and peace strung across the school.
