25.01.2022 Happy Tuesday everyone. The Homegirl Team very much enjoyed our extra day off yesterday. You all kept us extremely busy last week and you have continued to book us out again this week we do have some availability but it is limited. We have our lovely salon assistant Val joining us again today who myself and Kelli are thankful for. I am no longer going to try and book people in via Facebook as I don't have the book on me at all times. I am happy to answer any enquiries but you will need to call the salon to book. We appreciate the support while I'm still finding my feet as a small business owner and if I don't get back to your inboxes straight away it's because I am working. Enjoy the short week we have



25.01.2022 I just want to clarify that when you give you name address and phone number with me I do not pass that on to anyone. It stays locked away and not given to anyone. The council have come in and asked if I wanted to do it all online however I have declined that option due to the privacy of my clients so your details will be kept and then destroyed by me so no need to worry that people are going to be spying on you.

24.01.2022 Good morning everyone. Well it's Thursday and the salon has been crazy. We have welcomed Kelli back in the salon we had my beautiful friend Val as our amazing salon assistant and today I am lucky enough to Have Kerri from Golden Blades in Port Pirie coming down as a guest stylist in the salon. Kerri and I did our training together what seems a lifetime ago under the guidance of Lyn. Kerri is an amazing cutting and colourist and I am so thankful she is coming down. I am fully booked however we will be Kerri will be able to get some of you taken care of. I can't thank you all enough for the support and I've have been very spoilt with lovely gifts. 24.01.2022 Tomorrow is completely booked out. Unfortunately my stylist Kerri has fallen ill and can't make it in so I have Kelli coming in to help for a couple hours and am very thankful for that. We also have a new face joining the Homegirl Team. Chloe will be in to assist Kelli and myself for the day. Chloe has been out of salon for some time persuing other aspects by completing her beauty therapy course. So we will have her assisting Kelli and myself to ease her back in to a salon environment. 23.01.2022 Couple days late guys but happy new year. I hope you all had a fantastic end to 2020. So in saying that while we have been closed we are back to work officially tomorrow. 22.01.2022 Rainbow colour fun for a Monday. Now here is the deal with rainbow colours. They are not cheap to do. My client (who is also a friend) already had blonde hair with about 7 weeks of regrowth which is dark blonde. I had to bleach the hair down. You want them vibrant you got to be light light. Once that is done you need to rinse and dry the hair off then you need to place the rainbow and do the toner. This process on her hair took 4 and a half hours. As you can see in the picture she also got the retail to take care of her hair. She also will be doing cool hair washing from here on in. These are not permanent colours they are semi permanent. It was alot of fun to be doing on a Monday.

22.01.2022 Last week all the team at Homegirl got to have a cuddle with this beauty. This is little Lucy that sent us all clucky. She was so chilled out while we passed her around like pass the parcel. It might be some time before this princess needs a haircut but I must admit it was fun giving her kisses on the head goodbye. ( And just for the record I am friends with her mum and dad)

21.01.2022 This was lovely. Lyn was the very patient lecturer that taught me at trade school. When I was starting in hairdressing it definitely did not come naturally to me. I had little education when it came to highschool because I absolutely hated it so probably didn't apply my best. I was socially awkward I knew nothing about makeup apart from orange foundation. And the thought of doing this job overwhelmed me. I use to say to my mum I'm not smart enough to do this job. She would a...lways tell me just be honest and if you don't understand something. You are great and you will get it. I was nervous to be at Tafe people watching you what if I mess someone hair up what happens if I chop my finger off and have to try to be a 4 fingered hairdresser ( because that's the way my mind works). When I met my lecturer at tafe and hearing her speak I thought she wasn't even speaking English. All the technical term she was using. So for the first couple of week I remember smiling politely but I did not ask a question. And then when I really couldn't understand I remember sitting with Lyn and saying I need you to dumb it down for me. Everything in life isn't always going to be easy but just be kind to yourself. 20.01.2022 Had a visit from the council again today. And I he wanted to know my plans. So I whipped out my guidelines for entering the salon. ( Mate I am always prepared) he then advised about doing my road to recovery plan. Which I now have done. So I will have the guidelines up and the rules apply to each and every person that enters the salon. I can not stress enough if you refuse any of the guidelines then unfortunately you will not be able to have your hair and or beauty done. The fine for a breech is 5000 bucks. So I apologize if the measures in place are to "full on" however I ain't getting no 5000 dollar fine for nobody .

17.01.2022 Good evening everyone. Just an appreciation post to my amazing clients today. Thankyou for your patience in my running well behind. The way I had booked my appointments today was based on having a salon assistant. Last night she told me she was going to finish early today which completely messed everything up. 16.01.2022 Good morning. Just want to let you know we have limited appointments left for opening week. I have been copping a bit off sass from people that are wanting to come in on certain days and time and not being able to do so with all the bookings we have. Please don't get attitude with me because you see me in the salon and the lights are on and I am not working on hair. Its because I am not open yet. I understand that people think that it is the salon previously is just re openin...g, not the case. There is a lot going on behind the scenes to get everything up and running and with the restrictions lifting earlier it has given me a few extra task to get completed. I am making sure I comply with all of the new regulations to keep myself Kelli and our families safe and making sure our shop keeps you and your family safe. And standing at the roller door saying I will go elsewhere is not going to bother me in the slightest so don't try it thinking that I am going to overcrowd the salon it isnt going to happen. 15.01.2022 What an amazing first day back and opening the doors to my little salon. I was blessed with beautiful cake made by ally who even worked the phones and the appointments for me when I was snowed under stunning flowers from Sonja as well as Anne Rick and my two beautiful little clients who have been mentioned in earlier post. 15.01.2022 Good evening everyone. Just a gentle reminder from your friendly bogan hairdresser. Just like all of you we are all great at certain things so are my team and myself. . Do you know what we can't do though. We can't magically make an appointment become available when both myself and my team are fully booked. Yea I know right I'm just as shocked as you are. And all the people you see in the salon when you come asking for an appointment 80% of those client have pre booked sinc...e August. The other 20% is because they rang up or came in and booked to secure their spot. Because Christmas time in the salon is the busiest time of the year. Where we eat on the go and lucky if we get to go to the toilet to make sure all of our clients get their hair done and we service high volumes of clients in a day. So when you come in and we say I'm sorry we are fully booked today don't give us attitude all the clients in there have booked appointments so we are not going to make them wait. Do you know what else I can't do? I can't force you to sign in at our reception desk. But then I am forced to say you well if you don't sign in you can't have you hair done. You telling me it stupid it's the government trying to control me it's a conspiracy it's ridiculous. It's just a cold. It does not change the fact that you need to do it. You can throw out well if you don't want my money I'll get it done else where. Fun fact anyone who has a legitimate hairdressing/ beauty business being run correctly would have and should have had to do a Covid Safe Plan. If I did not have a Covid Safe Plan than my business would be shut down. So yes I get it. It isn't ideal however these are the times we are in and I am going to do everything that I need to, to protect my staff and their families myself and my family and the clients and their families but I am going to protect my business which I have busted my behind to make it a reality. So don't get lippy about it because it's not going to make 1 bit of difference to me if you don't get your hair done in my shop because if you don't get it done because you don't want to register there are people always on our wait list that will sign it to get their hair done in my shop. 14.01.2022 Just as a change of pace. I love good smelling melts. I won't lie this is my sister in law's little business but let me tell you I am probably one of the hardest people to please. So when she asked me to test her range I wasn't sure if I should because she knows 1 I can't lie but 2 the feedback I give will be 100 percent honest. I gave her some of my favourite smells from another company aka dusk which I pay a fortune for my melts. Let me tell you I'm not paying a ridiculous amount anymore I'm buying mine ( yes I do buy them off her because it cost money to run a small business) from her. So if you like some amazing quality melts and candles she's is the girl for you.

11.01.2022 What a colour transformation. This is our beautiful Val's sister nolie. She came to me with a white hair colour inspiration picture. She trust me completely with her hair. I shaved some of it down and really went to town with texture to try and get that old colour out. It still took 2 visits to get it this colour. She also bought the retail products to keep her hair in tip top shape. This process takes time there are stages to the lightening process and many factors come in to play. I was just super lucky that she didn't mind how short I went to be able to achieve what she wanted.

11.01.2022 Hahaha I'm a Christmas girl all the way . 2020 has definitely been a a pretty hectic year I think we can all agree. From woohoo new year new me, to a global pandemic and the effect that has had on everyone. I thought why not get my Christmas stuff out a little bit early and shake things up. It was met with alot of playful heckling from my fellow shop owners. ( They secretly want to decorate to) to super excited kids in the mall because Santa was moving. All I know is that although people think Christmas is ages away it's really not. So jingle all the way for the next 68 days ( I won't torture you all with carols)

09.01.2022 And just another quick thing I forgot to mention the other day. We will no longer have magazines to read in the salon. The whole licking the fingers to turn pages is for sure frowned upon in the new normal so if you are wanting to bring something you are more than welcome.

08.01.2022 We are having more people wanting bright fashion colours. So I have started to build up a range starting with Affinage pop art. Now before we all get excited with our dark hair. To have these colours we need to bleach the hair out to a pale yellow to get them to pop. With full transparency as always from myself. These colours to achieve can be quite costly. And take time to achieve. Unless your hair is already pre lightened you are looking at a minimum of 2.5 hours to have your hair done. So don't come in with an hour to spare and want this process done

08.01.2022 Good morning everyone. I've had a few messages of people seeing me limping around the salon the past few days. I've got a bung hip. I've managed to pop the hip out on Friday when I was picking something up. And when I stood back up it popped back in it has decided to trap a nerve. The doctor has requested that I stay home and rest it. Bless him. To that I laughed and said I'll just have some pain killers and go about my day. So people with appointments I am going to be working I'm just not as quick on my feet. And sometimes a little quieter than normal because I'm not going to lie she does hurt. But it is all good .We are fully booked for the rest of the week and I look forward to seeing your faces in the salon. Much love. Xxx

05.01.2022 Hello Homegirl family. I hope everyone is doing amazing this horrible wet evening. Now my little salon is getting busier and busier and I have been on the hunt for the person with the right juju to become the latest addition to my salon. Everyone meet Claire. Claire has been in industry for 30 years. I know you all love some ladies with a wealth of knowledge and she can deliver. Claire is experienced in all aspects of hairdressing and her goal is like Kelli and myself to make you feel relaxed and comfortable in the salon and to give you great hair. She is also a loving mum with 2 kids and is living her best life in One tree Hill. I know our clients will make her feel more than welcome in to our little family. We look forward to her having her first shifts starting from next week. Welcome Claire.

05.01.2022 Hello everyone the facebook has been super quiet lately and I do apologize for that. I'm still finding my feet as a business owner. And you guys have kept us super busy. I am going to start putting a few procedure in place. I'm having a couple of issues with people coming in 2 to 3 weeks after there hair has been done and saying oh I want it a bit shorter. Me and my staff are happy to correct that however not 2 or 3 weeks after you have had your hair done. So I am going to be... putting together a policy. Which will have a time frame which will cover you if you want to take it shorter you will have 48 hours after you cut to let us know. Any time after that you will be charged. If you come in and your hair is extremely oily you will need to have it washed before your haircut. That you will be charged for. It is unfair on our stylist to have to try and cut when the hair is extremely dirty. So if you don't want that to happen give your hair a wash the day before you come in. When the hair is extremely dirty it is hard for us to make sure your hair is sitting correctly. No shows. This is a hard one for me because I never wanted to be a salon that charged a deposit upfront for a service however we have had a number of people not turning up to their appointment. I fully understand that sometimes things happen and you can't make it. Give us a call let us know. But to just not turn up and not say anything is extremely hard on my business because we could have given your spot to someone else. I am putting more thought in to that one because I would hate to have to charge people a deposit that do the right thing. If you repeatedly do not turn up to your appointment you will no longer be booked in and will have to become a walk in client as it is not fair to the people that are wanting to get in and cant. Just a reminder colours take time people don't want to except that fact but it's true. I have arrived on honest hairdressing and tell people it can take a few sessions to achieve something. It's not because we are trying to milk money out of you. It's because we have trained for years to be able to make those statements. And sometime we are incorrect. Some times it takes more sessions sometime not as many. So on that note. I hope everyone is going amazing we have also been a bit creative in salon and built a flower wall to add a bit more colour to the shop. And I have also been spoilt with my amazing clients cooking. 03.01.2022 ATTENTION I never wanted to be doing this as a business owner. All new colour bookings will require a deposit. From here on in. This can be done via coming in to the salon or via bank transfer. This will need to be done 48 hours prior to your booking. If the deposit has not been paid your booking will be automatically cancelled. I will be setting up a mobile that you will be able to send your receipt for a bank transfer. All bank transfers will need to send the receipt to... the mobile number and in the description of transfer your name and the date that your hair is booked. The deposit total will be determined on the total cost of the service. The deposit will be non refundable and will come off the total cost of your hair. I am very laid back but unfortunately for the people that aren't turning up to their appointment it is unfair to the clients that are trying to get in. Our regular loyal clients this does not apply to you as you guys have built up relationships with myself and Kelli so are trusted and do the right thing. I will be setting this all up over the weekend and I thankyou for you understanding. Much love x See more

02.01.2022 Client rings this morning cancelling her appointment she says it's due to an issue with her husband. I ask oh is he ok she said well no his had a fall and we are waiting for the ambulance to take him to hospital. I said oh my goodness you didn't need to call. She was apologetic because she isn't going to make it to the salon. And it leaves me pondering if a client can give us a call while her husband is on the ground it makes me even more angry when people just don't turn up with no contact at all.
