10.01.2022 Tonight on the 7.30 Report (ABC TV) there will be a story about Archie's visit last week to two communities in Cape York, Coen and Aurukun where he launched But...cher Paper, Texta, Blackboard and Chalk, an illustrated songbook and album of children's songs that Archie released last year to honor the dream of his late partner, Ruby Hunter. In 1997 Archie, Ruby and their young family toured communities throughout Cape York working with school children writing songs about land, culture and identity. Ruby, inspired by the children of Cape York, wrote the majority of the songs on the album and illustrated each song. Sixteen years later Archie has been able to take the songbook back to two of the communities on the Cape thanks to the support of many local indigenous organisations. He also meet up with some of the children who were part of those songwriting workshops back in 1997. A very special story. See more
