16.01.2022 Dear Friend Of Homunculus Theatre Company As you know, the COVID19 pandemic has had a catastrophic impact on the performing arts sector - affecting artists real-world ability to physically deliver current 2020 programming; causing unprecedented cancellations, rescheduling and re-configuring. On a positive note, however, this has encouraged us to look at new, innovative and flexible ways to share our work within the digital space. We are currently in the process of creating ...a series of interactive programs specific to Commedia, Clowning, Melodrama, Comedy, Mask Theatre, Non-Verbal Communication & Mime and Absurdism. We aim to allow participants to play, express, be physical, relate and discover in real-time and space (online); an approach underpinned by the assumption that everyone has something to offer and that laughter is a unique and powerful connector that inspires students, teachers and communities now more than ever, during this continued time of crisis and uncertainty. Our mission is to nurture a love of, and life-long engagement, with live performance - through comedy. Laughter, in particular, conceals, gives permission to play, allows expression, liberates and reveals; ultimately instilling a sense of joy, vulnerability, physical discipline and freedom of expression. This, fundamentally, builds the foundation of resilience, connection, compassion, respect, empathy, legacy and community well-being. Performing arts organizations of all kinds..choirs, theaters, orchestras, dance companies, dance studios are all trying to figure out on a daily basis how to keep going and employ anyone they can in the field. If you know anyone in the arts industry reach out to them and tell them they matter. Give them a virtual hug and make sure they are taken care of. Donate to arts organizations and keep arts alive.
