23.01.2022 Using Physics to help bring down a heavy trunk with a back-lean... 4:1 mechanical advantage using ropes and pulleys. We wanted this trunk down intact so it can be milled. River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) is an incredible wood for its beautiful colour and grain. Check the comments for a picture of a bowl David made from this tree, as a gift for the client.

15.01.2022 Double gift for some recent clients. A local couple who have used us twice now and were an absolute pleasure to meet, and to work with. Firstly an all-purpose "persuader" - the wooden mallet made from one of their own trees. I made myself one of these when I first started woodturning and it has become my 'go-to tool' for everything. And secondly, the strangest bowl i have made so far... this was a piece of almond tree with an unusual ridge that made it impossible to hollow out all the way to the middle, so I improvised and made it into this "cocktail bowl" for olives or other picky-type foods...
