24.01.2022 COUNTRY CHAMPS FOR ALBANY IN 2021 Albany will host Hockey Australia national country championships in 2021 after the dates and locations for the various outdoor... Australian titles were announced today. The Australian Country Championships will be held in Albany from August 7-14, 2021. Albany and Lower Great Southern Hockey Association were set to host the same national tournament on August 8-15 this year before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis. Charlotte Edwards, pictured, is the most recent LGSHA player to represent WA Country in the championships. In HA's release they said "All 2021 events except for the Australian Mens and Womens Masters Championships, will be held at the same locations as those slated for 2020 that did not go ahead due to the COVID-19 pandemic." Bring on August 2021!

Please check if you have been allocated a game and make sure the time and day suits. A reminder to all that these umpires are volunteers who will be doing their very best. 14.01.2022 Just Hockey are heading to Albany this weekend with a great selection of hockey equipment. You can pre-order if you are after something specific and they will bring it down for you.

14.01.2022 CHANGE OF FINALS. Please be advised that due to sending teams away to the 2020 CBH Country Championships from 26 - 28 September the finals will be pulled forward by 1 week. U18 and B Grade Men will be held Friday September 18th with the remainder held Saturday 19th September 2020. To allow this to happen there may be some changes to games for some teams, who will be notified of the impacts as they are rescheduled. Changes will be made to the online system in the coming weeks. Also please put an interim "SAVE THE DATE" into your calendars for the season's senior presentation evening for Saturday September 12th.

04.01.2022 2020 Grand Final Schedule The LGSHA Committee wishes to remind our members to abide by the 45 person limit capacity inside our main clubroom due to the COVID-19 2 sqm rule. Given the predicted weather forecast, we have taken extra measures to ensure there is additional under covered (outdoor) space to watch and enjoy the hockey. Full bar and canteen will be available. Thanks to all clubs for providing assistance. ... Please also ensure you stay within the designated drinking areas if you are consuming alcoholic beverages. 02.01.2022 Three very important awards were handed out on Friday night that the LGSHA has put in place to encourage junior players to contribute to local hockey. All three awards drew multiple nominations but we are pleased to announce the following deserving recipients: Junior Female Volunteer of the Year: TULLY JOY Junior Male Volunteer of the Year: HAYDEN MILLS The Doug Coles Memorial Junior Umpire of the Year Award: CHARLOTTE EDWARDS. Also, our Development Officer would like to say a big "Thank you" to Leah, Jack, Hayden and Archer for coaching the new Goldstix program over the 6 week duration. They have inspired a whole new generation of future hockey players.

02.01.2022 Summer over 35's hockey is starting this Wednesday from 6pm for the next 7 weeks. New players will need to register via the LGSHA website and select: Registration type: LGSHA - Summer Hockey Registration Senior (19 and over) - $17 Payment for insurance of $17 will be taken via the website at this point. Any players that have already played hockey in 2020 will be covered for insurance and won't need to pay insurance again. There will be a small fee to cover turf hire costs etc - this is still being calculated. Any further information can be directed to Damien Stevens on 0418 911 500.
