25.01.2022 COMMUNITY UPDATE | Council has been reviewing the requests made to re-open our aquatic facilities as the restrictions slowly ease. We appreciate your feedback and fully understand the importance of swimming to many in our community, including our learn-to-swim children. Right now, as we can have only a few swimmers at a time, and cannot provide full change room facilities or a full range of programs for all of our patrons, it is not practical or cost-effective to open. Our plans for re-opening are well progressed. We look forward to re-commencing all programs in the near future as soon as we can do so in a financially responsible manner, for the benefit of all of our community.

25.01.2022 WELCOME BACK | We are so excited to be welcoming you back at our Aquatic and Leisure Centres in Hornsby and Galston again next week, as of Monday 6 July. Let’s do it the right way to keep us all safe and be able to enjoy all our available services at the centres. Social distancing at all times Restricted numbers of patrons (4 per lane/6 in the gym/20 in leisure pool) Walk-ins are ok (but you may have to wait)... Booking is better (to guarantee your spot) Fitness passports accepted Lanes are for swimmers only No gathering at the end of lanes (alternate rules for squads) Stay for up to 45 minutes Showers and changerooms are available If you can, get changed and shower at home During COVID-19 restrictions, people with current memberships will be able to access the gym at pool entry price until direct debits resume on 20 July. This is also the day our Learn to Swim, Hornsby squads and group fitness (including Aqua) will be back. Both the water slide and the kiosk at our Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre will remain closed until further notice. 25.01.2022 ROOF WORKS STARTING | Don’t mind us while we prepare for essential roof works at our Hornsby Aquatic & Leisure Centre. Starting tomorrow, you will see scaffolding as you enter the hall (shown in blue below), but all pools are still available as usual until the end of this week. As of Monday 19 October we will need to close the 25 metre pool, while we are replacing the roof sheeting of that section of the hall. The leisure pool will remain open, though. These roof works are ...essential to reduce the condensation levels in the pool hall, and we are endeavouring the complete the works as quickly as possible. 23.01.2022 25M POOL OPEN | We are happy to announce that our 25m pool has just been re-opened to the public. Please be careful when moving around the facility as there is still scaffolding in place.

22.01.2022 CARNIVAL PREPARATION CLINIC | We are excited to be able to offer a new clinic in the lead up to our normal carnival preparation clinic. 21.01.2022 SWIM WITH US | Save your spot - the Learn to Swim re-enrolments for same time and day bookings open this Monday 7 September. Changes to bookings can be made from 15 September, and new students can enrol as of Tuesday 29 September. Please note, Term 4 2020 will be shorter than the public-school term, due to essential roof works. We’d like to thank our loyal families, and all our swimmers rolling over from Term 3 to Term 4 will receive free family swimming for the school holidays until the beginning of the new term. 19.01.2022 FACE MASKS | Following updates to the Public Health Orders, face masks are now mandatory when attending the following Council facilities: Hornsby, Pennant Hills, Berowra and Galston libraries (Hornsby Shire Libraries) Customer Service Centre, Council Chambers Waste Customer Service Counter, Thornleigh CRC... If you don’t have your own, our friendly team will provide you with a free mask. We also know some patrons will be exempt from this direction due to age and/or medical reasons. 17.01.2022 NO MORE LANE BOOKINGS | This will be the last week of bookings for lane and recreational swimming. As of next week, starting Monday 13 July, you won’t need to book before you come anymore. But please make sure you still respect our current COVID-19 house rules: No more than 4 swimmers per lane No more than 20 people in the leisure/spa area Maintain social distancing Use hand sanitiser provided... Sessions are not time limited, but we ask you to be mindful of other users’ needs, especially if the area is busy Changerooms and showers will be available, but please shower and change at home if you can The water slide and kiosk are closed until further notice Please note, our opening times have changes slightly to allow for special COVID-19 cleaning procedures. 17.01.2022 CAR PARK CLOSURE | If you’re planning to visit us at Hornsby tomorrow, please note there's no access to our car park between 1-2pm. We need to move the crane currently onsite for the roof works, so there’ll also be no driveway access during that time. If you have already parked before 1pm, you won’t need to move your car and you’ll be able to access the car park again after 2pm. Many thanks for your cooperation.

16.01.2022 AQUA UPDATE | From today the HALC will be re-implementing the 3 class limit for Aqua until more classes can be added. Please be mindful council is following NSW COVID-19 updates and as long as cases stay low we will look to add further classes in the coming weeks. We really appreciate you all working with us on this matter and look forward to adding further classes.

16.01.2022 POOL UPDATES | A few updates for our Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre patrons. Good news! Repairs to the tiles in our 25m indoor pool will be finished earlier than expected. Lap swimmers welcome back from 1PM tomorrow (Saturday) Aqua classes are full for next week. People on the waitlist have preference for week two starting 27 July and bookings are now limited to three sessions per week per person.... During the Learn to Swim term (starting Monday 20 July), from 3.30pm onwards daily all patrons (including parents) using the leisure pool and spa will need a wristband. 20 wristbands will be issued every hour on the half-hour for a 60-minute session. 15.01.2022 25M POOL CLOSED | Roof works at Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre are starting today and our 25m pool will need to be closed for a couple of weeks, while the roofers work directly above this section of the hall. All other pools are open. Please be careful if you are driving, there will be traffic controllers and extra traffic lights directing cars in and out of our carpark. 14.01.2022 POOLS & STADIUM RE-OPEN 6 JULY | With the easing of restrictions from NSW Government, we‘re happy to confirm that Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre (HALC), Galston Aquatic and Leisure Centre (GALC) and Thornleigh Brickpit Stadium will open Monday, 6 July 2020. HALC will be open for lap swimming, lane hire agreements and use of our gym. GALC will be open for lap swimming, lane hire agreements, use of gyms and Junior and Senior squads. Thornleigh Brickpit will re...sume normal operations and bookings under NSW Government COVID-19 restrictions. Learn to Swim and the re-introduction of our Aqua/Group Fitness programs are expected to resume Monday 20 July. As NSW Government is constantly reviewing and updating restrictions, we will have further detail on how many patrons are able to use the amenities closer to 6 July 2020. 11.01.2022 25M POOL CLOSED | Due to unexpected tile repairs, our 25m indoor pool will be closed until Monday 20 July. The 17m indoor pool and the 50m outdoor pool will be open for lap swimming but we ask all patrons to observe social distancing and there are restrictions of 4 swimmers per lane. You may have to be patient and wait, if we become too busy. Not ideal timing we know, but the safety of our patrons is our upmost priority. If there are any changes to the 25m pool reopening on... 09.01.2022 POOLS STILL CLOSED | We know you are all keen, so are webut at this stage, our pools are not opening just yet. We are very excited about the easing of restrictions announced by the NSW Health Minister this week, which brings us one step closer to opening our Aquatic and Leisure Centres’ doors again. Please hang in there while we are finalising a plan to reopen our pools in line with formal directions from the NSW Government as soon as possible. Thank you all for your support and patience. 03.01.2022 LEARN TO SWIM CHANGES | In light of the recent emergence of active COVID-19 cases in our Shire, we will need to make a few changes to our Learn to Swim classes to ensure everyone’s health and safety, starting today, Wednesday 12 August. We will be implementing the 1.5m social distancing rule within as well as outside the water.
