23.01.2022 Some very good advice on feeding the elderly horse or horses with dental issues. How to ensure you are feeding them to meet their nutritional requirements. https://www.facebook.com/687696813/posts/10155730258576814/

18.01.2022 CORONA VIRUS EDAA is always committed to a high standard of biosecurity and ensuring the safety of our clients and their horses, along with providing a safe wor...k environment for our members and clients. Our members visit numerous properties daily and with the volume of confirmed cases of the Corona virus (COVID-19) increasing, we are taking a proactive approach (without being alarmists). With this in mind, we ask that you to please keep us informed if anyone within the home is unwell or if any suspected or confirmed cases of Corona virus (COVID-19) have impacted you, your clients or guests on a property that we are due to attend; this includes anyone in home quarantine. In the interest of best practice, EDAA members reserve the right to postpone attending any property which may be housing someone infected or at risk until the quarantine period is over. #coronavirus #biosecurity #equine #horses

18.01.2022 Interesting read on pressure placed on the horses head by bridles and how accessories such as fly hoods and bridle numbers can affect the balance and the gaits. http://www.thegaitpost.com/blinded-by-science-at-the-fairf/

18.01.2022 This so called Horse Dentist is not a member of the Equine Dental Association of Australia. This demonstrates how vital it is to use a qualified Equine Dentist and how dangerous power tools can be in the wrong hands. The horses teeth only have to heat 2 degrees in temperature for damage to be done to the pulp cavity.

16.01.2022 Excellent fibre source for the older horse or horses that struggle eating hay.

16.01.2022 Hanging out at Equitana. Make sure you drop by and enter our hay bag competition. #Equitana

12.01.2022 All to often aged horses do not receive a dental check up and unfortunately they end up in the body condition of the two horses in the photos. Libby from Cherry Lane Equine Retirement witnesses this all too often when aged horses are put in her care to nurse back to good health. Both horses pictured are well into their twenties and Dee (brown horse) has been in Libbys care for just under twelve months and demonstrates what good nutrition, horse husbandry, and dental care ...can achieve in the elderly horse. Cleves journey back to good health has just begun (chestnut horse). She has only been in Libbys care for under three weeks. She arrived in poor condition and scouring, a few days after arrival she received a routine dental float and has been placed on a balanced diet that is slowly restoring her gut health. Libby and her team of volunteers take great pride in getting these aged horses back to excellent health. Both horses had not received dental care for quite sometime before arriving at Cherry Lane. Soon after there arrival, there teeth were floated and placed on the required diet. Being able to chew and digest the diet given to them efficietly and effectively, they begun the journey back to good health. At Cherry Lane Equine Retirement it is a labour of love for these aged beauties but restoring them back to their former glory can be an expensive task. If you are interested in what the team at Cherry Lane Equine Retirement offer horses or would like to assist in helping these aged beauties please head over to their page. See more
