25.01.2022 SOME FUN IS HEADING YOUR WAY! Stay tuned for next weeks #fridayfunnies as some very clever members of our HDT driving club and community have been working hard on something (for your enjoyment and laugh!). But for now... here is this weeks #FridayFunny (American Style). If you wear Cowboy cloths... Does it mean you’re Ranch Dressing???

25.01.2022 HALT ! WHO GOES THERE ? It's nearly all of our Officials for the 2019 Tamworth International Horse Driving Trials made up of (from left to right) Jennifer Nichols - FEI 2* Judge, Alan Simpson - Treating Vet, Selina Sylvester - FEI Veterinary Steward, Peter Tischer (Germany) Foreign Judge FEI 2*, Marie de Ronde-Oudemans (Netherlands) President Of The Ground Jury FEI 3*, Ty Nichols - Technical Delegate, Andrea Webb - FEI Steward 3* Missing, Marc Johnson - Course Designer FEI 2* he was out completing the Marathon course!! Thanks to this great Team for being here this weekend with us. We hope you enjoy your week.

25.01.2022 With corona virus giving us very little to be cheery about at the moment, here is one that has had us in stitches (it’s that bad it’s good!). We hope it puts a little smile on everyone face going into the weekend! I put a bet on a horse to come in at 10 to 1 and it did! Unfortunately all the others came in at 12.30. #stayathome #fridayfunnies

25.01.2022 It's always a night of fun, an opportunity to bring two disciplines together to entertain the crowd and tonight was no exception. The feature Team, the Master, in town conducting Clinics and Masterclasses, the most successful Equestrian Athlete ever, Mr Boyd Exell OAM, Four times World Champion, Six times Aachen Champion, Seven times FEI World Cup Driving Champion to name but a few titles on his resume, taking the reins of a two horse Team from Byron McIntyre and beside him,... his Show Jumping Team-mate, a serial speedster, the one and only 'Rocket' Rod McQueen on his speedy little pony. Could they beat the 5 other Teams all keen to knock them off and take the scalp of the 'Dream Team' ?? After a fast and furious first round our top three were decided and unfortunately, with a few jumping rails and a late cone, the Dream Team came back only for a celebratory run. Thanks so much Boyd for being at home once again for this event and for all the support you give back to your sport here, it's such an honour to have you here. (And sorry we ran a bit past rum O'Clock :) !!) And Rod, we hope you enjoyed the experience, very few have been the back-stepper of the world's best ever Carriage Driver ! But tonight, the honours tonight went to the combination of Driver, Tracey Borg and Show Jumper, Matt Kidston who completed the jump off round clear in a time of 82.98 secs. In second place, Driver, Nicole Kimlin and, (following in the footsteps of his Dad, Blair, a couple of years ago), her Show Jump Team mate, young Scone Eventer Charlie Richardson who ran a very quick 84 sec flat time to hold into third place the combination of Driver, Ned Andrew and Show Jumper Rhys Stones (coached by wife Jess who competed in last years event) who placed third in a time of 95.20 secs. What a great night ! We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. A big thank you to our Drivers and to our Show Jumpers who made this possible, we hope you too, enjoyed this special experience. 24.01.2022 We saw some wonderful Dressage tests yesterday morning and then it was time to test the skill and precision of our Drivers as we moved to the Cones course. Maybe it was the overnight rain that slowed the surface but for some reason, all combinations collected time faults on the 'fast course' designed by the talented Marc Johnson. As a result, for the Marathon tomorrow we will have some very close contests to see who our 2019 Champions will be. If you are anywhere near AELEC at Tamworth. come down and see all the action. First horse on course at 8.40am. First horse through Obstacle 1 at 9.16am. It's going to be an awesome day Photos and words Stephen Mowbray Photography

24.01.2022 THANK YOU | For over six years Equestrian NSW has supported our clubs ambition to host a Grassroots to FEI event in Tamworth that has enabled the growth, awareness and excitement for this sport. We endeavour to continually improve, so that the drivers and the sport are the eventual winners of what this week long event is all about, but we could not do what we do with out the support of our sponsors and organising committee. Thank you ENSW for your support and acknowledgment, we are looking forward to our debrief this weekend so we can start planning 2020!

24.01.2022 The 2019 Tamworth International Horse Driving Trials began on Tuesday and the early feature of the event has been the Young Driver Clinic. Our Young Drivers have been given the finest of instruction from the Four times World Champion, Six time Aachen Champion, Seven times FEI World Cup Driving Champion, our great mate and wonderful supporter of Driving back here in Australia, the Master, Mr Boyd Exell OAM and we have also had the amazing support and Coaching provided to the Y...oung Drivers by the legendary Bob Edwards, the talented Jessica Stockings and the wonderful Elizabeth Lawrence The Young Riders have lapped it all up and we look forward to seeing them in the competition arena later in the week. A huge thank you to our sponsors of this program, who have once again provided this incredible opportunity for these young folks to foster their intrigue and interest in the sport of competition carriage driving. Bev and Bob Edwards have always believed in our young drivers and continue to do so through not only as a coach for our clinic, but also through their generosity of prizes for the young drivers. Thank you to Bennington Carriages AU, Maria Trott Art and Dee-Amber Rural for their support for the 2019 Young Drivers Clinic. Photos Stephen Mowbray Photography Horse Driving Trials Club See more

18.01.2022 THE YEAR THAT WAS 2019/20 | Last weekend the Horse Driving Trials Club came together (socially distancing of course) for our annual 2019/20 AGM in Uralla. It was fabulous to get out and see everyone without horses and be able to check in with everyone also. This year has not been our usual year, however we are a strong little community that we know through the support of not only our committee, members and the wider Carriage Driving community, we will be back in our competiti...on outfits soon enough. We had a great productive and optimistic meeting and we are delighted to be sharing some event and training news shortly. While it isn't our normal list of events, this pandemic has encouraged the HDT Club to continue our educational platforms and you will see some combined training and competition events soon! Thank you to Equestrian Australia and Equestrian NSW for your continued support of our club as well as all our other sponsors that have been along for our journey. Thank you once again to the HDT Club committee, Coaches and of course our members that not only attended our AGM but continue to support our club and our overall club and sporting values. From all of us, we cannot wait to see everyone back in their carriage with their woolly horses and ponies. Stay safe, socially distance and lets sit together with our trusty steeds ahead of us all the way into 2021. See more

16.01.2022 DRIVING | The Tamworth International Horse Driving Trials, Boyd Exell Clinic and Young Driver Clinic 2020 Cancelled. It is with great disappointment and sadness that the Organising Committee announced today the cancellation of the 2020 Tamworth International Horse Driving Trials, Boyd Exell Clinic and the Young Drivers Clinic (Oct 20 - 25th) due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Organising Committee have stated that they want to act responsibly in these uncertain times and their ...absolute priority is the health and safety of both horse and athlete, including everyone directly involved with the event; competitors, sponsors, officials, owners, helpers, volunteers and visitors. The Organising Commitee will now turn their attention towards planning these activities for 2021 at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre when we they will return better than ever. The HDT Club is committed to the continuation of education and training during these uncertain times and should any clinic opportunities arise we will be sure to advise the wider driving community. #watchthisspace #standingtogether See more

16.01.2022 He's a very proud Aussie, he flies our Equestrian flag all around the world, he is the most successful Equestrian Athlete ever including being the Four times Wo...rld Champion, Six times Aachen Champion, Seven times FEI World Cup Driving Champion, the resume is very, very long yet every year he comes 'home' to support the sport of Driving here at the Tamworth International Horse Driving Trials. Welcome home Boyd Exell OAM, great to have you here mate, thanks for coming back once again to Coach and encourage our Drivers of all different levels as they seek to improve their knowledge and skills, be it driving a single, a pair or a four in hand Team. Over the last few days Boyd has conducted Clinics and individual lessons and worked with our Young Drivers sharing his knowledge about the many many aspects of Driving that to the untrained eye are easily missed. To witness him watching a Driver and their horse(s), then say what he thinks he sees, then take the reins to confirm is amazing. Then, with a few little adjustments, often just a 'hole' tighter or looser on the multiple elements of the harness, maybe a bit change, a little something here or there and suddenly, the horse is forward, relaxed, not fighting. It is extra-ordinary to watch. What an eye, what a mind, what knowledge and how privileged are we to have hime here. Thanks Boyd, we are really appreciative of all you give back to our sport. All the best for the year ahead. Photos and words Stephen Mowbray Photography Horse Driving Trials Club NSW Inc See more

15.01.2022 PROTOCOL & COMP EVENT | With the days now longer and warmer (for some), we are pleased to bring you a new initiative to the HDT Club. Continuing on the educational platform that we strive for and combining it with a mini competition (because we all miss these very much), this Protocol and Comp weekend is a great opportunity to put that COVID 19 training (or not) to practice and learn and gain instant feedback from the experts in both the Dressage and Cones. Where else, other than training days can you practice, gain feedback and then be scored on your final go? The event will adhere and be run under strict COVID-19 NSW regulations. We look forward to many of you joining us for a weekend with our four legged friends and fellow drivers. 15.01.2022 URGENT HELP | Evening Everyone. Mother Nature Has Not Been Kind To HDT preparations at AELEC Today. After a very successful working bee on Sunday we figured we were well ahead of the game, that is until the winds came to AELEC today and dislodged both the Boyd Clinic training arena and the Tamworth International HDT Comp arena.... So event organisers are putting out a call for help to put both arenas back up first thing tomorrow morning to be ready for the first clinic lesson at 9am. Please let Judy or Jessica Meredith know if you can spare a couple of hours in the morning to put things to right again. Jessica 0414 604 104 Judy 0412 955 056 Many thanks Marilyn

A big thank you to all the Volunteers who assisted on this day and throughout the event, we are really grateful for your help and assistance to make the event run so smoothly. Here's some of the action from around the course. Photos and words Stephen Mowbray Photography

12.01.2022 UPDATE | Following consultation with Equestrian NSW the Horse Driving Trials Organising Committee has amended the HDT COVID-19 requirements relating to Grooms at our Protocol/Mini Comp this weekend 31st Oct - 1st Nov. These changes reflect recent common practise at equestrian activities across a number of disciplines in relation to COVID-19 Restrictions and Grooms.. HDT requirements regarding Grooms is now: A. 01.01.2022 We began the first day of competition of the 2019 Tamworth International Horse Driving Trials in the Dressage Arena and we saw a mixture of FEI 1 and 2 Star Horses and Ponies, singles and Pairs present to our Judges in their various classes. Some rain overnight took away the dust and left an arena with very good going and the combinations were able to deliver some very good scores for their tests. Nicole Kimlin and 'Edge Hill Christopher Robin' finished their test with a scor...e of 49.87 penalties to lead in the FEI 1* Single Pony Class and Sandy Hunter driving 'Fiore' scored 52.40 penalties to be just ahead of last night's Jump and Drive winner Tracie Borg and her pony 'Glenormaniston Slievebeagh' on 52.53 penalties in the FEI 1* Single Horse Class. A lovely test from Lorraine Cairns with 'Victor' in hand sees this pair leading the FEI 2* Single Horse class going into this afternoons Cones phase.
