21.01.2022 Racing and Wagering Western Australia - RWWA stewards cautioned Mitchell Pateman for patting Thisll Testyas poll before the Durrant Racing-trained sprinter ...crossed the Belmont Park Perth finish line but she was far too good for her 10 KIRIN Megumi Handicap opponents. Pateman, who was riding Thisll Testya in a race for the first time, spent the early part of the Belmont Park straight looking over his right shoulder for non-existent dangers before he performed his affectionate actions that peeved the stewards but pleased the camera operators. Forty minutes later, Free Trade won Saturdays $100,000 main event, the Idyllic Prince Stakes over 1,300 metres at Listed level, for the proven combination of trainer Michael Lane Racing and jockey Chris Parnham.

16.01.2022 New Roles - Draft Managers Required: 2021 will see Lime Country Thoroughbreds present approximately 60 yearlings across four sales. This year we are looking for... three people who are ready for a step up to being our Draft Managers for the Lime Country Classic, Melbourne Premier and Easter sales. The right people will need to be confident on the lead with both colts and fillies and be looking for a role that sits between sales team member and Yearling Manager. This is a perfect role for experienced and ambitious young people or those with all the experience already who would like to button back for a season from the responsibility of Yearling Manager. The Draft Managers will work closely with the owners around daily management of their draft, be the hands-on point of contact for vets, farriers and other specialist service providers as well as the go to person for the team members working in your draft. You will need the confidence to work with the owners to plan your drafts daily schedule, be responsible for record keeping, participate in planning meetings with all senior staff on farm and have the desire to present an exceptional draft of horses that we can all be proud of. In addition, we will be looking for four yearling team members to join our existing team for the season. You may also be involved in the recruitment of those people to ensure a great team for the season. In return we offer the opportunity to further your education, skill, craft and understanding of yearling preparation, development, and management. In addition, there will be accommodation on farm, an excellent remuneration package and user-friendly hours. These will be challenging roles but excellent ones for people who wish to learn as much as possible rather than being a cog in a bigger machine for the 20/21 season. Any of these three roles could provide the opportunity for promotion into a future Yearling Mangers position at Lime Country or if preferred would finish at the end of the contract. NB: All farm staff attending sales will be paid casual sales staff rates while at sales. Please apply with CV and references in strictest confidence by email to [email protected] See details in comments section re competition for a limited edition Lime Country Thoroughbreds feather puffer jacket! PS: Loads of great pubs, dining, shopping and things to do within a 4km radius. Best of all the beach below is only 50 minutes away, a summer close to Sydney isnt all bad...

13.01.2022 Just over 8 years ago, Karen and I sat right here one Sunday afternoon sharing a bottle of the cheapest champagne we could find. Things were bad sales wise and ...the effects of the GFC were still lingering on in the boom and bust economy of Western Australia. We needed to find a solution and I came up with the idea to start a budget priced horse racing syndication company and try my luck on the Eastern seaboard. A company where shares in horses werent four or five grand each, as was our normal price, but just a grand each making genuine racehorse ownership available to practically everyone whos interested. And then as if by magic, the lightbulb appeared and I said out loud, and thats what well call the business-Grand Syndicates-where every shares a grand! Karen, whos usually the handbrake for my ideas, thought it was brilliant and there and then I came up with a goal to find a thousand people with a thousand dollars in a thousand days. It was easy to visualise-1000/1000/1000. I got straight on the phone to Sam Lyons, a young bloke who used to be an owner with us here in Perth before he moved back to the east. Sam once told me that all he wanted to do was work in racing and if ever a job opportunity came up, hed love to work for us. We thought Sam was the perfect fit for the face and energy for a new business venture. Eight years later weve assembled a terrific team and today, we were very fortunate to win our first Group 1 race, The Magic Millions Memsie Stakes with our $6,000 bargain buy Behemoth who we syndicated out for just $1,100 for a 5% share. Its a dream come true. Karen and I would like to thank everyone concerned-you all know who you are. Its good to be lucky! See more

05.01.2022 Vale, Delicacy - Sad news this week with the sudden and tragic loss of 2015 Champion 3YO Filly Delicacy after suffering an allergic reaction to penicillin. 04.01.2022 19th consecutive Champion stallion title to the Smiths at Scenic Lodge.

04.01.2022 It has been nearly three years since Blackfriars died but the sons and daughters of the former Scenic Lodge Thoroughbred Stud stallion have earned him his 10t...h consecutive Western Australian sire premiership. One hundred and ninety-four Blackfriars-sired gallopers ran in Australian races last season and 90 of them won at least once. Headlined by five black type victors - Black Heart Bart (G1 Underwood Stakes), Come Play With Me (G1 The Metropolitan), Gangbuster (LR Boulder Cup), Spiritual Warrior (LR Kalgoorlie Cup, LR ATA Stakes, LR Bull And Bush Tavern Cup and LR Pinjarra Cup) and Tellem Were Comin (LR Hannans Handicap and LR Northam Cup) - the progeny of Blackfriars won $6,175,678 in Australia last term, a prizemoney haul that ranked the late stallion 23rd nationally.

03.01.2022 3 Madi Derricks first city treble - the second hat-trick of the Tiarnna Robertson Racing-indentured apprentice riders competitive career that began little ...more than six months ago - was the headline story of the first Wednesday meeting of the season at Belmont Park Perth. Derrick, who made her race debut at Geraldton Turf Club on Australia Day, steered Durrant Racing-trained mares Treat Yo Self and Showzali and Warwick racing-prepared girl Hoolahoops to Belmont Park wins. Derrick rode a Geraldton treble at what was just her second meeting, guiding Angry Annie, Push To Pass and Wee Ripper to Crayfish Coast victories. Two Western Australian metropolitan meetings into the season and Derrick is equal second on the premiership ladder with three wins, one fewer than Chris Parnham and tied with Mitchell Pateman and William Pike.
