20.01.2022 Can only the Tradesman work on my car? Or no apprentice please?... Are a couple of questions we get here all the time, would just like to take a sec to explain a few myths, (I can only speak for what goes on here) when an apprentice (tradesman in learning) works on a vehicle here their work is always supervised, advised and mentored by one of the tradesman and the time that they spend on your job is only charged at what we believe the job should take a tradesman to complete, ...so quite often you can be getting a tradesman and apprentice working on your vehicle for a longer period of time and charged a much lesser rate than the hours that the pair have spent!! (seems like good value to me).The only way we can get more tradespeople into the industry is to have apprentices, Host Auto Repairs will never put an apprentice on a job without proper guidance and certainty that the person working on your job has the correct abilities and training or if they are learning, we shadow them with one of our fantastic tradies. Regardless of who works on your job here we will always stand behind, be proud and warrant every job that comes from Host Auto Repairs, Cheers AJ See more

05.01.2022 "How much is your hourly rate?" This is a question we get asked a lot as do many business, sometimes followed by "my friend can do that cheaper" There are many things that go into determining hourly rate in any business large of small,it isnt just a number that the business plucks out of the air.... When I hear somebody say " I have a friend that can do that cheaper " I ask them to consider a few following questions - Does your friend have relevant government licences to perform the task required - Does the friend have council approval to do the job in the location they are doing it? - Does the friend rent or are they in the process of repaying this premises? - What overheads does your friends have to perform these tasks ? some may include workers compensation, power, water, rates, employment of staff, relevant insurances, ongoing job and industry training, advertising, sponsoring local clubs, licencing and council fees, environmental fees and concerns - Does your friend have another source of income? - Does your friend employ other people including locals that put back into the local community - Does your friend "warrant" and stand by their work? - Will you friend be there in 12 months or 3 years time to continue to provide you with their great service? -What quality of parts is your friend fitting ? - What specialist tools does your friend continue to purchase to keep up with the industry? Mechanical or electronical tools? - Does you friend have a $99 dollar code reader from "eBay" or a recognised and "Licensed" Vehicle Diagnostic or Scan tool? -Is you friend a part of an industry group or council ie " Motor Trades Association" These are just some of the questions to ask yourself and there are plenty more that spring to mind and these are some of the contributing factors that come to forming an hourly rate. Another contributing factor for working out an hourly rate may be the level of staff the business has and tradesperson numbers and what they are getting paid as they can only get paid (as per any business model) a specified percentage of the hourly rate for that business model to survive and continue to employ people and provide you the customer the ongoing great service and support you deserve. Apprentices are another factor to consider ( as I have written before) their ongoing training (on and off the job) mentoring and time to learn before being able to complete a given task at a tradesperson level. I truly believe that "Host Auto Repairs" hourly rate is very reasonable and very fair for all parties involved and has been formed with much consideration. Some factors left out can have an effect on this at any time as we live in a changing world. But as time shows for a long period we have held our rate very constant and have tried to absorb changes where possible. Thanks for taking the time to read our post today and look forward to seeing you in the future AJ

01.01.2022 A massive thanks to Jamie and Dennis for going 300+ km North of Canarvon to repair a clients vehicle, proving that our mobile service unit will come to you for your requirements! Managing to repair the vehicle on the side of the road and get them on the road again Well done guys! This gave Gav and myself a very busy week (thanks Gav big effort) as Jayden was still on holidays.

01.01.2022 Sadly, we have learnt today, that one of our major local suppliers have closed their doors for the time being. This will have an effect on many people & they will be hugely missed. We ask our customers to understand & show patience as parts will not be so readily available & may cause unavoidable delays.
