20.01.2022 Mujtaba Bayat left war-torn Afghanistan in 2012 to seek asylum in Australia. Despite his application remaining uncertain he is unwavering in his commitment to giving back to the country that has protected him. Amidst many challenges since his arrival, Mujtaba has been able to establish his own painting and maintenance business and has employed 17 fellow asylum seekers and Australians. He has been volunteering his time to serve the community by delivering food hampers to peop...le in need and the homeless. When asked why he is so motivated to serving the community, he stated; By immersing yourself in a community and surrounding yourself with people who are dedicated to bringing a positive change to our world, like the people at HOST, one can learn how this world works. And secondly I have experienced hardship and know how the needy feels. In the photo Mr. Bayat is with his sister and brother in law with the food they donated to the homeless in Hornsby.
