Some are camera shy and a few overwhelmed so these are the others. One woman, who called, told me her son is a quadrapegic who had to be evacuated to hospital ahead of the fire. The Hotel California Road at Inkwel...l will remain open on a contactless check-in basis to ensure hotel guest safety. The Tasting Rooms are open this Friday through Sunday from 12-5 for those of you wishing to stock up or just say hi. 07.01.2022 Q: What could be better than enjoying the company of your loved one while watching a perfect sunset over one of McLaren Vale’s most beautiful vineyards this Win...ter? A: Well, nothing. Unless you also have a glass of Inkwell or Dub Style wine in your hand! The Hotel California Road remained open through the lockdown phase. Our occupancy was highly affected by the lack of interstate and international travellers as well as the uncertainty of South Australians regarding the right thing to do with social distancing measures. We used the time afforded us by numerous cancellations to implement all new hygiene procedures and guest interaction processes to maximise guest safety. Our anxiety of the extreme uncertainty was relieved as guests trickled back for special occasions like postponed weddings and babymoon celebrations. Weekends are getting booked well in advance and the hotel is filling up again. Guests now include parents recovering from home schooling, people partially replacing cancelled international travel and folks who are just looking for a peaceful getaway this Winter. Since we opened two years ago, the Hotel California Road at Inkwell has always placed the highest priority on the health and safety of our guests and staff. To ensure this, we (Irina and Dudley) personally inspect guest rooms for cleanliness. We are frequently involved in helping clean too. The COVID-19 pandemic has required us to raise our demanding standards to still higher level with new protocols for the current circumstances. Below is an overview of some components of Hotel California Road’s commitment to cleanliness and protocols developed to be consistent with recommended social distancing guidelines: Contactless or socially distant check in at the guest’s option Partial or full refresh option for mult-night stays Cleaning of all common area surfaces daily Room key and common area handles and rails disinfected daily Wrapping of remote controls in cellophane to ensure proper cleaning Change of all decorative fabrics between every guest change (e.g. bed runners, cushions, etc.) Change of all blankets between every guest change Removal of board games available for guests and shut down of guest ice machine in the hallway (unfortunately we don’t have a good idea yet to make us feel safe to use them). For everyone’s safety, we are insisting that no one who is not a registered guest of the hotel be in the hotel building for any reason. If we’ve learned anything during this pandemic, it is that we are all in this together. By taking care of ourselves and following these new protocols we will be collectively taking care of our guests, our community and our country, by helping to stop the spread. As you know we don’t have cooking facilities or allow any cooking in our suites or hotel grounds. In the mornings, we offer a generous continental breakfast. For lunch and dinner we welcome guests to visit or order takeaway food from the many amazing restaurants in our region that have been working hard and creatively to provide delicious food while the social distancing rules are still in place. Salopian Inn, The Currant Shed, Pizzateca, Vale’s Pizza and Serafino are just few examples of places to order food from. You can access a regularly updated list of local businesses that are open here. We don’t know when the COVID-19 pandemic will be over or when our lives will return to what we used to call normal. In the meanwhile, we want our guests and and staff to know that they are welcome back in a safe and clean hotel environment. Please stay safe and healthy. Irina & Dudley (and Daisy).
