25.01.2022 A beautiful end to a beautiful (but chilly ) day! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
24.01.2022 HOWESTON CLOSED In response to the most recent address from the Australian Prime Minister, Howeston Golf Course will be shut tomorrow (Monday 30/03/20) morning. We will take the time tomorrow to address the situation and collect the advice, guidance and recommendations from all relevant authorities, then make important decisions for the immediate and near future. We thank you all for the valued and cherished support you have given us over many years and especially in t...hese recent challenging times. We will post on Facebook any changes or updates as soon as we possibly can, and thank you for your patience. Stay safe, happy, healthy and look after each other. Thank you Howeston
22.01.2022 Dear Customers In accordance with the new government guidelines and restrictions amidst the current global health crisis, we have taken a number of precautions and steps to ensure we are able to keep operating based on advice given to us from the relevant authorities. We have been informed that as the golf course is still an outdoor sports/recreation venue, and given golf is a non-contact sport, we are able to remain open at this point. This will be closely monitored day by ...day and changes made as necessary. Congregating before and after a round will be strongly discouraged to avoid any gatherings or groups of people. This includes paying for a round within our shop, where only two people will be allowed within the doors/at the counter at a time. All other people will be asked to wait patiently outside and move in and out as necessary. We will be in contact with the relevant organizers of social groups/competitions to pass relevant information onto them. At this stage comps will go ahead however congregating before the round and presentations after the round will be prohibited. Any hire equipment belonging to the golf course is being cleaned before going out and after being returned, this includes clubs and buggies. We would like to make clear that Howeston is trying everything it can to 1. Conform to what guidance we have been given for dealing as a public place during this global health crisis, while 2. Remaining open for people to use the area while remaining safe. Any and all of the protocols could change at any point at which we will change with them accordingly. We hope that everyone remains safe, healthy and happy during this tumultuous and stressful time and we thank you for your patience and understanding. - Management
22.01.2022 Howeston Reopen! As of Tuesday 12th Jan, Howeston will reopen as normal following the Greater Brisbane Lockdown. There will be a couple of changes due to the transition period over the next 10 days. Most importantly:... - Masks will be mandatory in and near the shop, this will also apply to our staff who will be wearing masks - Masks will not be required while out on the course providing social distancing is observed - There will be an ongoing emphasis on social distancing in congested areas such as starting tees Social club organisers have been notified of any changes applying to them As always we aim to provide a safe venue for all to get out an have a hit and we thank you for following all directions in this uncertain time. Thank you all for your ongoing support and we hope to see you back down for a hit Kind regards - Howeston Management
21.01.2022 Dear Customers With the course reopening this weekend there are a couple of points wanting to be brought to attention. We have plans and protocols in place with the main aims of getting everyone wanting to have a hit dispersed onto the course as quickly and safely as possible, and then away from the course once finished, avoiding congregations and maintaining a safe environment at all times.... Our social clubs have all be given instruction on how they are to operate in order for everything to run smoothly. General players please take note of a few points to help out the entire operation. - Arrive as close to the same time as your playing partners if possible, and move away from the shop and to the directed tee, avoiding any groups near the shop area. Please follow any direction given to you by staff/marshals in relation to waiting/queuing if the situation arises. - Groups and individuals to remain distinctly separate if waiting on a tee is required. Painted lines on pathways are in place to assist with this. Again please follow any direction given to you. - Please vacate the golf course’s premises as swiftly as possible, again avoiding congregating and making way for anyone arriving to begin a round. All hire equipment belonging to Howeston will be sanitized before and after use, regular cleaning will be conducted in and around the shop, soap and sanitizer provided in the bathrooms, as well as hand sanitizer provider at the entrance to the shop. Carts will only be hired to one individual, and in order to maintain social distancing, only one player to ride in the cart at a time. Two bags may be placed on the cart. Finally with all that has gone on we have found it necessary that the weekend green fee be increased by $1 to $25. We hope that everything is up and running smoothly over the weekend and people are able to enjoy a round. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back out on the course and even more excited for things to begin returning to normal. Stay Safe and kind regards - Howeston Management
19.01.2022 Been a tough slog getting the course back to top condition after numerous bouts of rain, wet and flash flooding, but can comfortably say the course is currently looking as good as it has in years! Should we avoid any storms tomorrow the weekend is looking like a cracker!!! Hope everyone gets to take advantage of the course looking so nice!
18.01.2022 Hope everyone got a swing in over the weekend, because the rain has brought in the new week with 30mm and still falling! Course is open, but here is a THROWBACK to a couple of weeks ago when we were getting up to 100mm a day. When we close the bottom part of the course and revert to the original 18, this is normally what we are looking at!
18.01.2022 HOLE IN ONE! Before the sun had come up on Sunday, with the first swing of the morning, Peter nailed a perfect shot to hole out on the Weston (Blue) 1st! Amazingly, later that morning, Deb who plays in with the Capalaba Social Golf Club on Sunday’s, also managed the perfect shot on the Howard (Red) 6th! Two hole in one’s in one day!... Who is going to round out the trio?
15.01.2022 Hi All. At this stage Howeston will remain closed through the weekend and until further notice. We understand that the current government restrictions and guidelines make it possible for a golf course to open, and we respect other courses decisions to do so, however at this point of time we believe the best option is to remain closed. This has been done to follow the advice of the government as well as Golf Australia, and keep our patrons as well as the wider community a...s safe as possible. All of your support through these times and over many years is invaluable and we are looking forward to reopening to many of your smiling faces. Keep your eye on our Facebook page for any updates. Thank you all again for the incredible support and the much appreciated patience. Please be safe and keep your friends and family safe in these uncertain times. See you soon - Howeston
14.01.2022 The course is looking truly spectacular at the moment, and absolutely gorgeous weather to go with it!
09.01.2022 That’s a wrap, finishing up our first weekend back in over 7 weeks! We would like to put out a massive thank you! Thank you to everyone who was so patient while we were closed, and those who checked in on us and expressed their concerns while we were.... Thank you to our regular social clubs who did a fantastic job in organising and managing their players and getting them out on the course. Thank you to everyone who came out to have a hit this weekend. Firstly for listening to directions from staff, being patient around the shop and on the course, keeping socially distant, being understanding of the extra rules and generally helping things run smoothly. And secondly for immediately coming back to support us. You patronage and loyalty is invaluable and it was fantastic to see so many familiar smiling faces back on the course. We look forward to seeing everyone else make it down when they can. Being closed for so long was an unprecedented step for us in an unprecedented time. We know there are a lot of people out there doing it tough but as long as we can provide a safe space for people to come and get out in the open and have a hit, we will. We can’t wait until things start getting back to normal and we are looking forward to having you all down soon. Cheers - the Howeston family
07.01.2022 Despite concerns from the world health organisation, Howeston will be OPEN tomorrow We ask that celebrations be limited to one fist bump or less, verbal sprays or dummy spitting to be done in the rough away from other players, and coughing / sneezing not to be done during backswings (that’s just nice etiquette) The course is very wet, and we are unsure whether it will be the original 18 or full 27 holes, or if carts will be available, it will all depend on overnight rai...n. But we will be open and you can come down for a hit, we will try and keep you updated on the course condition as the weekend progresses!
05.01.2022 Some golfers need to be commended for trying their best to avoid other people on the course! Been watching a few players who completely miss each fairway and approach shots nowhere near the greens! I overheard one golfer claimed he hadn’t seen his playing partner since going into the rough on the 3rd! TAG a mate who practices social distancing on the course! ... Great work guys Hope everyone is keeping healthy, safe and happy! Cheers.
02.01.2022 48 years ago today a small 9 hole golf course was carved out of bush and farmland on Brisbane’s outskirts and opened to the public as an affordable golf option for anyone wanting a hit. Today it’s now 27 holes, it’s still Brisbane’s best value for money round and still here for anyone who wants to come and have a hit at anytime. A big thanks to all of our loyal and dedicated customers over the last 48 years, you have made all of this possible and we are blessed to call so... many of you friends and family! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOWESTON!
02.01.2022 Attention all Social Clubs, Howeston Partons Due to the most recent updates from QLD Health and the QLD Government, Howeston will be closed from 6pm this afternoon (Fri 8th Jan) until Monday night (11th Jan). This is inconvenient but necessary given the reintroduction of lockdown restrictions and the limiting to only essential reasons to leave home. ... We will be monitoring any updates given by the QLD Government and QLD Health and are hoping that the restrictions will be lifted Monday night, allowing us to reopen Tuesday morning as normal. This will however be dependent on any further updates or changes. As always our goal will be to provide a safe facility for our patrons coming to play golf, and we will be following government advice as well as evaluating our plans and processes to ensure this is achieved. We also wish to thank everyone for their ongoing support through this time and your cooperation while at Howeston. We hope that everyone remains safe and well and we look forward to seeing you all back down for a hit in the near future. Kind Regards Howeston Management
01.01.2022 Howeston To Open! From Saturday the 16th May, Howeston will be open and people will be able to come down for a hit! Social distancing protocols will be in place and expected to be adhered to. With the QLD gov allowing groups in public of up to 10 people, people will be able to play in groups of 4. It is still expected that people will arrive just before teeing off and vacate immediately after their round to avoid any congregations.... Looking forward to seeing everyone back down for a hit!
