25.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who came along for our working bee on Saturday 14th March. The courts are all weeded, leaves swept, drains cleaned and some extra sand has been put on Court 6.

23.01.2022 Greetings folks. Hoping this update finds you all well and ready to resume a new season of tennis. Great News; All competition tennis is able to resume from 22nd June. As this fall around school holidays, for most it will mean a commencement date during the week beginning 13th July. For the juniors, ERT are proposing a shortened winter season during term 3, followed by a normal summer comp. The job of putting together the junior teams is always a big one so please let our Jun...ior convenor, James Wotherspoon 0407357318, know CLEARLY ASAP if your child is or is not playing Saturday morning comp when it starts. For adult competition, the same applies. Contact Chris or Don ASAP to ensure your team or availability to play in a team is clearly noted. Our clubhouse may be opened for use of the bathrooms. The covid 19 restrictions of groups of no more than 20 people indoors where the room allows 4 square metres per person. This means that our clubhouse can support 19 people indoors. Social distancing is recommended, with good hygiene practises. Remain aware of items you touch that may be touched by others. Please take your own water bottle or cup and provide food only for yourself. Use the hand sanitiser provided if you don’t have your own. Wipe down any communal facilities you use and importantly, if you are unwell, let your team or group know that you are playing it safe and stay away from others. It has been great to be able to play tennis again these last few weeks. Wednesday evening from 7pm and Saturday afternoon from 2pm the courts are open for those who wish to have a social match. And coaching is in full swing. Friday ladies and Monday men’s social are up and running also. Looking forward to seeing you all on court . Thanks so much for your understanding and patience these last couple of months. Happy hitting! Sue Moreland

22.01.2022 Hey Everyone, I’m pleased to announce, off the back of our highly successful Winter Tournament, the upcoming AdvantEdge Tennis Junior & Senior Pre-Xmas Tourname...nt. **This is relevant for Green Ball competition players or higher!!! Dates: 21st - 23rd December, 2020 With no ETA on the resumption of JTs or AMTs, it is only prudent that we provide this forum for players to get as much quality match practice as possible, prior to the year ending. If you were a fan of our tournament last time, I encourage you to share this event with your peers and anyone else who you think would be interested in getting the much needed match play we have missed out on over the last 6 months or so. Here’s the link to our simple entry form: https://forms.gle/TDEFKJzXca5dpWCSA Once again, we will utilise the Tennis Australia Tournament Software for the running of the tournament. Thanks again for your support.

22.01.2022 Thanks to Ben and Heather for organizing a great tournament, and to all the players for participating.

20.01.2022 Dear Members As I am sure you are all aware the process of social distancing has invaded every aspect of our daily lives as the Government seeks to guide us in sterile techniques and quarantine procedures to prevent all possible contamination opportunities. Therefore, as of 12 pm Friday 27 March there will be no access to the HE Parker tennis club Pavilion. Council will be disabling all access swipes to ensure the club house remains empty until further notice. Please note tha...t this also means there are no toilet facilities that can be used on site. Keep well and I hope the next message you get from us is the resumption of play, sooner rather than later. Kind Regards, Sue Moreland (President)

Sanitiser is provided on court - please sanitise regularly and assume all surfaces are contaminated. 7. Clubhouse is off-limits to everyone except, coach and committee. 8. 18.01.2022 As we are now in Stage 4 restrictions, all tennis clubs and facilities have been closed in Metropolitan Melbourne until further notice. We know this is a difficult time for everyone. It is important that we respect the new restrictions for our own health and the health and safety of the wider community. Please do stay safe and healthy during this difficult time and hopefully we can see a return to tennis again in the Spring.

16.01.2022 Dear members, Please note that the Maroondah Council has instructed the committee to close the clubhouse and place restrictions on the use of courts, as per the guidelines from Tennis Victoria. Please note that the clubhouse, including the toilets will be off-limits.... The courts remain accessible to members - however, doubles only permitted by members of the same household, and singles for those not of the same household. Coach Ben is able to continue providing 1:1 coaching sessions - please reach out and support Ben if you are able to do so during this period. Our court booking system via coach Ben’s Facebook page (AdvantEdge Tennis) remains in place and no booking, no play. https://www.facebook.com/advantedgetennis Please continue to follow social distancing rules as communicated previously. The club continues to provide hand sanitizer on each court. We will keep you posted should any further changes arise. Please stay safe and all the best with the six weeks of lockdown. Kind regards, Lenelle (Club Secretary)

09.01.2022 Greetings folks. Hope this update finds you all well and coping with our changing world. As you would be aware, the competition tennis which was due to resume last week did not start due to the resumed lockdown. I was pleased that tennis was more carefully considered in the guidelines due to the inherent nature of tennis giving us ample distance between players while on court playing a game. That said, our off-court behaviour between games needs to be mindful of the restricti...ons, to respect and protect each of our fellow players. I noted last week that our courts are being well utilised but the request for only singles to be played has inadvertently increased the number of people waiting for a turn (and worn us out faster). It appears if doubles were still allowed it would be easier to keep our social distance! Still, this is not the recommendation, so we should try harder to comply, thereby keeping the courts open for us all to use. It is one of the few lucky sports to remain, so let’s make sure there is no reason for that to change. Great news that Coach Ben is allowed to continue one-on-one coaching. Please support him and make use of the period we have been given to fine-tune your game. Plenty of scope for practice too. Your continued support of the club with many having paid their 2020/2021 memberships is very much appreciated. We realise the uncertainty is, well, uncertain. Our playing procedures now require each person to: * Book a court through Ben Longridge at https://www.facebook.com/advantedgetennis; * Organise your own balls; * Be mindful of your time period booked to free up for the next person; * Use the sanitiser; * NO masks need be worn while playing is my understanding at this point; * No clubhouse access except to turn on court lights and toilet usage, and please clean thoroughly after use. We have applied for a deferral of the AGM until November in the hope that gatherings will be allowed by then. If not, we will set up a Virtual AGM and send out the reports by email to each member. Many thanks again for your amazing understanding and for continuing to PLAY ON. Happy hitting! Sue Moreland

08.01.2022 Dear Members I have great news! We are able to resume play at HE Parker Reserve, with immediate effect, but we are to follow strict guidelines from Tennis Victoria and Maroondah Council. The committee is implementing a booking system which is managed by Ben Longridge, to ensure that we limit numbers in accordance with Tennis Victoria guidelines. These guidelines include social distancing, washing of hands, cleaning of facilities and equipment, limiting the time spent at the c...lub to minimum required, limiting group sizes to 10 etc. Please refer to the Tennis Victoria guidelines available here: https://www.tennis.com.au//Return-to-Tennis-Guidelines-1.p A few key requirements: Please book your court using the Parker Reserve booking system, link: https://www.facebook.com/advantedgetennis/ Please contact Ben Longridge 0413 619 028, if you need any assistance with the booking system. We need the names and contact numbers to allow contact tracing (if need be), use the additional information tab in the booking system to add names and contact numbers of all players (thank you!) No booking, no play Please bring your own tennis balls to play with and take them home with you Please make sure you have your own hand sanitizer with you at all times and use it regularly Please avoid contact with any gates, poles, equipment etc while at the club and make sure you sanitize your hands regularly. Assume that all surfaces are contaminated Clubhouse remains off limits - the Committee will be able to access the clubhouse to switch lights on and off. Please use the external toilet - internal toilets are off limits, except for wheelchair access. Please clean the toilet and basin after use, parents please assist juniors (thank you!) The water bubblers and taps at the club are not to be used, please bring your own water bottle already full Any spectators or parents are urged to spectate from inside your cars, or please remain outside of the perimeter of the facilities and implement social distancing No non-tennis play gatherings or socialising is allowed of any sort Please arrive timely for your court booking and please leave the facilities promptly afterwards The Committee encourages everyone to download the COVIDSafe app (https://www.covidsafe.gov.au/) to assist with contact tracing If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the club committee members. Happy hitting all! Kind regards, Lenelle Thomsen (Club Secretary)
