We introduced the concept of moral injury too - where employees feel they are being asked to do "the wrong thing" - and its impact. If this applies to your organisation one thing is key - managers must talk, effectively and empathically, with employees about this to avoid moral injury turning into a mental health problem. Manager training in a time like this is vital - many participants yesterday raised the issue of managers not knowing what to say and how to talk to employees - do your managers need some training now to identify moral injury and mental health issues in their team? 03.01.2022 Yesterday we discussed key questions to support managers and frontline workers strengthen workplace wellbeing, such as, "what should managers do when employees now request to keep working from home?" We also discussed the triad model of wellbeing to proactively provide wellbeing support and how to avoid moral injury - and how to address it - so it doesnt become a mental health problem.
