It’s how you teach that will change lives.’ Sometimes all you need is some plastic sheeting, jam sandwiches, buff...alo milk, a pile of straw and four eager students and you’ve got the greatest school in the world. To truly call yourself a great teacher you need passion, drive, love, empathy understanding and above all, a great sense of each and every child’s needs, wants, dreams and aspirations. Before you decide that your words are important enough to interrupt the silence and serenity that independence brings, make sure that you’re not stopping your students natural desire to learn dead in its tracks. It’s not an easy job teaching the future leaders of this world, but if you model the behaviour you wish to view, lead by example, listen actively and always remember that it’s never the child’s fault, you’ll sleep easy each and every night knowing that your work is making the world a better place. Be thankful, fall forward and remember that if you don’t have a chance to spread your wings as a teacher and show everyone what you’re made of then your in the wrong school. 09.01.2022 ***Anxious Kids And Stressed Out Grown-Ups*** Holy Cow Melbourne; here we are at the beginning of August 2020 with our world on its head and our emotions frayed.... I, like many of you, have a complex home life going on, filled with love, but also filled with unique challenges. This is combined with a world outside thats noisy with anger, frustration and fear leaves us paddling around in a perfect storm. Adult-Ing Is Unfun! & Parenting Is A Minefield. BUT, if we flip that on its head for a tick This is a once in a lifetime experience that will be a part of our history books forever. We are writing history together with our children, loved ones and the greater community. (Thought bubble: Sometimes it is just a matter of perspective.) One thing we do know is that being part of a community is vital to our mental health and general happiness, even if you are just watching from the sidelines. There are measurable health benefits from knowing you belong somewhere bigger than you. So, with that in mind, I have built a bubble, and its called Be Kind To Yourself Be kind to yourself is your bubble, your place to feel revived, supported and appreciated. No cost, no expectations. Its a place to access free support from me, and a unique way to maintain that sense of belonging and community. Be kind to yourself will continue to grow with a range of ideas and health supports over time. A fluid and flexible set of tools that you can use to help keep yourself and your loved ones on track. And best of all, there is no dress code So how are we tracking right now? As grown-ups, our emotions feel like a rollercoaster ride. Many of us have had tears at the ready, constantly. Last night I found myself welling up over an old episode of Star Trek (facepalm). All this then makes it increasingly difficult to maintain the calm required to parent, work and adult through this mess. Our children are also all kinds of challenging at the moment, with a complex combination of playfulness, fear, anxiety, confusion, tears and neediness mixed up with the usual stubborn, independent, clever, funny, craziness! The poor little mites dont know which way is up. The sum this up in one word EXHAUSTING! Be Kind To Yourself is like a virtual day spa. It provides a space where you can feel safe, feel that sense of belonging and find support where its needed. There will be opportunities to share, to listen, and to laugh. Escape from the bad news and anger into a calm and caring bubble filled with acceptance, gratitude and a solid scaffolding upon which you can create a plan to support the wellbeing of yourself and your loved ones.
