22.01.2022 It's with great sadness that we advise former player Derek Lea passed away last week. Derek joined Heidelberg United in 1983. He played 30 games for the club scoring 11 goals. For those of us who are old enough to remember Derek, he was a hard working forward who had an eye for a goal. Derek signed for Pollok Football Club after finishing up at Heidelberg United at the end of 1983. Deepest condolences to his family and friends from all at Heidelberg United.. RIP Champ. Derek is pictured to the left of Jim Tansey.

21.01.2022 Local Council Elections. Craig Langdon for Olympia Ward OLYMPIC PARK The major redevelopment off Olympic Park continues. Phase 1 is finished (new Soccer Field) and Phase 2 is well underway This excitng second phase includes a new carpark with an entrance of Southern Road as well as a new... synthetic practice field between the clubrooms and the Darebin Creek. There will also be extensive tree planting. Council is also advocating to the Federal and State Governments for any stimulus packages, and believes that funds should go to extending the carpark, building a new pavilion between the northern and middle ovals/fields, demolition of the existing pavilion next to the middle oval to enable the creation of two new soccer, and constructing new walking paths and playground. 16.01.2022 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT Matt is a progressive young coach who at only 22 years old, brings with him substantial experience and endeavour. He concurrently works at... Melbourne City within the City Football Schools Program as well as the City Football Academy, as an Assistant Coach for the U16s. Matt has previously worked at Heidelberg and Brunswick City as a NPL coach, as well as Essendon Royals as a Sub-Junior Technical Director. Matt is a knowledgeable and driven coach who will look to assist Senior coach Johno Clemente in building upon the strong foundations established for the NPLW Senior team in season 2020. He currently holds his FFA/AFC "B" License with intention to attain his "A" in the near future. I'm excited for the upcoming season. Johno and I saw some terrific outcomes in such a short space of time prior to the Covid lockdown. The sky really is the limit with the ability, attitude and culture among our current playing group. He is passionate, organised and totally committed to ensure he maximises the potential of every player and provides them every opportunity to play at the highest level possible. His coaching accreditation's consists of Grass Roots, Skill and Game Training certificates including FFA AFC C Youth Licence. He is keen in progressing to attain his B licence next season. Committing to my fourth consecutive year at this proud club, speaks volumes of the support I have received. The place is really buzzing with the development of its new facilities. There are lots of passionate people dedicating endless hours and working hard behind the scenes providing a professional sporting environment. I’m really excited to be back on the park doing what I love. The U17’s squad has incredible potential and with the support of my enthusiastic assistant coach and Senior captain, Steph Galea, I’m looking forward in preparing these girls to play senior football in the years ahead.
