17.01.2022 It takes less than one minute to sign this petition. Click on 'take action' and put your address. The Senate vote on the proposed repeal of the "Medevac" legislation has been delayed, for now. The Government is attempting to reverse these life-saving laws- which allow doctors greater decision-making in the treatment of sick people in offshore detention- but it is currently unclear whether it has enough support in the Senate.

16.01.2022 Offers of sponsorship, messages of love, money and even an artwork donated by an asylum seeker in detention, have been sent by Australia’s Afghan community following the Kabul maternity ward attack of May 12. The attack saw three gunmen dressed as Afghan security personnel storm a southwestern Kabul hospital’s maternity ward run by medical charity Doctors Without Borders in a crowded Hazara neighbourhood.

16.01.2022 We welcome the news that 26 refugees have been released form hotel detention in Melbourne today. They will reside in the community on bridging visas. There are still close to 200 people detained in hotel detention around the country. We implore the federal government to ensure they are all released promptly and fairly. 14.01.2022 Addressing this destitution is now more urgent than ever. In commending the Government on the Coronavirus package announced yesterday, we are calling on our political leaders to extend financial support and access to Medicare to all people in Australia who need it, including people on Bridging Visas. The Refugee Council and its member organisations are ready to work with the Government to help develop strategies to extend this support to people who most need it.

05.01.2022 Family doctors are at the frontline of help. This GP worked every single day for seven weeks and continues to perform above and beyond the call of duty to serve... two Brisbane communities. Dr Kamran Ali works almost non-stop at two chronically understaffed clinics, promoting flu vaccinations and ensuring his many elderly and at-risk patients receive the best care possible. That includes one incredible stretch from the end of February to the middle of April when he worked 40 days straight. The entire Ali family is also helping. Kamran, his wife Nazia and their young boys Rayyan and Moiz placed letters in their neighbours’ letterboxes offering to help in any way they can. We just want to make people around us know they’re not on their own, he says. There is someone trying to look after them. We need to give as much of ourselves as we can at this time. At least I can tell people I did my part. Read the full story here, https://go.nrma.com.au/DrAli. See more
