15.01.2022 4/5 Coming to Girraween is something I'll never regret. Even though I had a slight identity crisis when I first came, I genuinely enjoyed the friendships I made and the extra curricular activities that I was a part of. Whether it was going to Christian Group Thursday lunches, playing One Night Werewolf on Duke of Ed adventures, training hard to make it to state for volleyball or playing tennis against Mr Huang with a bin as our net on the top courts, I'm very grateful for t...he time I got to spend at Girra! So I'd like to thank all the students and teachers at Girra who made my experience unforgettable, especially the HoG team. Although I was new, I was accepted as if I was there from the start and gave me the opportunity to get to know so many people! I would never have thought to make my acting debut so soon but they've been really patient with my limited abilities (yeah, sorry for the countless retakes in the Valentine's video because of my monotonous voice). I've really enjoyed being a part of the HoG family and I'd happily say that even with the years it took me to make it into Girra, it was all worth it in the end. :") - Jay See more
14.01.2022 5/5 "I am the youngest of five children and sometimes it can be hard to bond with all of them. But even though we have different interests and personalities, nothing beats quality time with these four people in my life! And I'm finally starting to learn how to appreciate the people around me and how important it is to treasure these relationships." Everyone has a story to tell - and I wish we got to interview every person in the school! But whether you've been interviewed or... not, I hope you know how valuable your story is. I am so grateful for getting to know more of you for these past three years - it has been wonderful seeing many of you grow into the people you are today. Never be afraid of sharing your visions with those around you and turning them into reality - because that's how HoG started its journey. Thanks to Victor and Chris, the stories shared on this social media platform have inspired many of us since 2015. Many of you have shared with us what you want to do with your life and we hope you make your dreams come true! Surround yourself with the right people and have the right intentions and you can go anywhere. But I challenge you today to break out of your shell and step out of your comfort zone by speaking to someone in your class that you've never really talked to before! Share your story and listen to theirs. Learn something new and always have an open heart and open mind. You never know - you might make some really good friends. So while it's time for our HoG team's journey to end, it surely isn't the end of HoG! We'd love to introduce Cerys, Kristina and Anji as the new HoG team and we hope you all continue to support them as they bring to you more inspirational stories. All the best to these girls and all the best Girraween! And even though I already have a big family, it has been a blessing to be a part of this beautiful Girra family.
10.01.2022 2/5 Hey guys... grab some tissues it’s about to get a bit sentimental. I love Humans of Girra not only because of what it has taught me as a photographer, but also because of everything else that my HoG fam has taught me. Kevin was the person who taught me how cameras worked, and made me confident enough to take my camera settings off automatic. (if you know, you know)... Jayden and Charlene showed me how great leadership can truly grow a team into a family. Shefin didn’t really teach me much.. apparently she hates boys tho. Humans of Girraween was an amazing experience to be apart of, because while I was able to work on my photography and videography, I was also able to share this experience with four other people who worked together to build each other up. - Chels See more
10.01.2022 Hi guys, our names are Kristina, Cerys, Anji and Smaran and we are the new Humans of Girraween team. We are really excited to meet all of you and hear about your interesting stories. If you see us around the school, don’t be afraid to come and talk to us or even just say hi.
06.01.2022 3/5 EEEEE!! Hey guys! Shefs here It's so exciting to be interviewed! There are honestly so many great things I have to say about HOG cause it's genuinely been one of the best teams I've ever been part of. Within the past 3 years of being in HOG our group has gone through so many bad things, whether that be not being able to get enough interviews in a week or the millions of video ideas that never made the cut. But we have also gone through so many good things and gotten to... know so many people in our school both older and younger. I reckon one of my absolute favourite parts of being in HOG was the videos. The stresses and effort that comes behind thinking of ideas, producing it and editing it is something I only found out being part of this team. It was especially hard in our last year cause we wanted every video to be the best and I honestly am so proud of ourselves for the effort we put in! Every now and then I look back at the previous videos we made and it has improved so much overtime and it makes me so proud of our team! I also love the encouragement the rest of the school gave us cause it really pushed us to work hard and it turned out for the best! Also one of my proudest moments would be the photo I took of Josh Yong at swimming carnival last year! I wasn't an OG memeber of HOG but I'm so thankful to my team for accepting me! Especially Kev and Chels who helped me so much with photography and after a while I was able to take photos by myself and gained a massive passion for it. Also wanna thank Jay for being the person that I paired up with the most! Maaaaan those Friday recess' making awkward conversations...YIKES! Also Cha for being one of the best leaders of our group and helped guide our team! Also wanna give a massive thank you to Victor and Chris for passing the page down and trusting us and I hope our team has made you guys proud! In the same way I wish the best of luck to our new HOG members to try their best in whatever they do and just let them know that it's a learning process and don't be scared to talk to anyone!! Also hope the rest of GHS can help these girls out by not being scared to show your quirky and interesting sides, cause that's what we like to see! - Shefs See more
