25.01.2022 Coal Facts - Did you know? Why disparage Australian coal - let the facts speak for themselves! Australia is the worlds second largest coal exporter - only 4% of world production! ... What would closing down the Australian coal industry mean? No impact on the worlds need for heat and power or for the iron and steel industry essential for daily life? #HumeCoal #coalforsteel #coalforpower #coalforjobs

22.01.2022 Hume Coal Regional Training Awards Gold Sponsor! Congratulations to all the winners! A great night recognising the hard work of inspirational people looking to improve themselves and the places they work. Hume Coal is looking to create 300 well paying full time jobs and of course training will be an important part for all employees.... By the way I didnt see anyone from the anti mining groups there. I wonder if they support vocational training in any way? #HumeCoalProject #300Jobs #1300Apprentice

22.01.2022 KEEP THE SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS CLEAN - Part 2... The rubbish continues to get thrown over the fence and into the compound. Except for the time that someone stole the fence itself! Funny right? Thats right they stole the fencing. They didnt just cut the fencing out they took it off site for their own needs possibly for reinforcement for concrete. Unbelievable. Our Exploration Manager thought it was rather strange, but the Police called it destruction of property and the...ft. The fence was replaced, but the grubs kept bringing their rubbish, including stereo systems, lounge chairs, tents, used car key tags identifying someones car together with appointment details for eye surgery perhaps thats why they are so one-eyed. After the rubbish was cleaned up it was taken to the tip, where the Council tip charged us for cleaning up someone elses dumping. But then more was dumped and then more. #cleanupyouract #illegaldumping #grubs

21.01.2022 Cmon stop it... Wow! Recognition. Appreciation. I wonder if the tide is turning? The NSW Treasurer stated the importance of the mining industry, and publicly recognised a miner in the public gallery before telling Parliament:... He knows, as we do, just how much we depend on our miners for their contribution to our economy, and just how much they depend on us to do the right thing by them with policies that help, rather than hurt. Budget surpluses are expected to average $1.7 billion over the next four years, mining royalties are forecast to deliver nearly $8 billion, or an annual average of $1.97 billion over the same period, keeping the NSW Budget are in the black. AND... POSCO has been named the Worlds Most Competitive steelmaker for the 10th consecutive year based on size, profitability, technological innovation, price competitiveness, cost reduction, and financial health. Nice to have them in our corner! #HumeCoalProject #300Jobs #CoalForSteel

21.01.2022 Thumbs up for Wingecarribee Council for taking steps towards development in the area with the approval of the Austral masonry factory in the Moss Vale Enterprise Zone last week, covering over 60,000 sq metres on 51 Ha of land adjacent to the Berrima Cement Works and creating new jobs. Lets hope that council throw their weight behind the 300 new jobs that will be created by the Hume Coal Project. #HumeCoal #Jobsforall #newdevelopment #communitysupport

20.01.2022 What a shame it is that so many local businesses are forced to close their doors with Southern Highlands businesses showing a 65.2 decrease in profit. Yes there are other contributing factors and this article mentions them, but it fails to mention one of the main factors being the lack of employment in the area causing locals to travel for work or even relocate. We dont have enough people in the area spending at the shops! Lets hope the Hume Coal Project gets the go ahe...ad. Then the creation of 300+ local jobs will give the Southern Highlands a much needed boost to the economy and give the retailers some much needed relief. #HumeCoal #jobs #economicgrowth #retailerrelief

19.01.2022 QUIZ..... Our modern world today uses coking coal in the manufacture of steel and cement, which is essential for every day life. This picture was taken at Moss Vale railway station. Can you identify how many uses of steel there are in this small picture? #humecoal #coalforsteel #partofthesolution #jobs

18.01.2022 Over a period of 15 years renewable energy has grown in NSW by nearly 6%. Its clear we have a long hard road to go to transition to a state with 100% renewables. On the 24th June 2020, the Deputy Premier of NSW, the Hon John Barilaro MP announced a plan with foresight, a plan to transition away from coal. In doing so he recognised that Royalties from coal in NSW during 2018-19 brought in about $2 Billion and funded essential services and infrastructure such as schools, hosp...itals, roads and transport etc. He also recognised that it isnt going to be a quick fix, but he has a plan that lays out the future of this transition while still recognising the needs of the people of NSW. Coal provides 80% of all NSW power needs. Coal if its turned off tomorrow youll need to decide what single day of the week you want to have power on! Cause it wont be available for the rest of the week! #HumeCoal #royaltiesforNSW #powergeneration #partofthesolution

18.01.2022 Many countries around the world have begun a transition away from fossil fuels to low carbon sources of energy to meet commitments under the Paris Agreement. This will ultimately lead to the global phasing out of coal in electricity generation (thermal coal), but will take some decades to complete. Coal currently remains a critical energy source globally, supplying over a third of all electricity. Coal is a significant industry in NSW and globally. Coal mining generates jobs ...in the regions and provides royalties that help pay for important social infrastructure such as schools and hospitals. 18.01.2022 Did you know that people wont be able to see much of the Hume Coal Project at all? 17.01.2022 LABOUR PRODUCTIVITY BY SECTOR Mining leaps ahead of all other industries for productivity. This allows the mining industry to pay better wages than other industries and makes the industry more economically sustainable. The food, accommodation, aged care and retail service industries in the Southern Highlands are the lowest in labour productivity.... Mining productivity is directly linked to significant investment in new projects, latest technology and higher skills required to make a modern mine work. This is what Hume Coal will deliver to the local economy - more secure and economically sustainable jobs, the latest in technology, training in higher levels of skills leading to better wages. #humecoal #sustainablejobs #economicbenefit #betterwages

17.01.2022 The Hume Coal team have now settled into our revamped Berrima office permanently and are exploring the village and the surrounding great cafes. We have enjoyed the warm welcome we have received from the locals. Its good to see how many cafes are happy to get customers through the door during this financially difficult time. But dont worry that you havent heard from us, we are still here busy preparing responses to the Independent Planning Commission, using expert advice t...o assist them in making a considered determination on the Hume Coal Project, which if approved will deliver 300+ full time local jobs and economic benefits to the Southern Highlands. We welcome anybody who wants to get an update on how we are progressing through this process to pop in and say hello. #humecoal #jobs #economicbenefit #coalforsteel

13.01.2022 What has Hume Coal been saying all along.. In a profound shift in Labour policy, the Leader of the Opposition Anthony Albanese is saying he wants Australia to become an energy exporting superpower while ensuring the future of the coal industry. Speaking at the Committee for Economic Development in Perth on Tuesday, he also stated that the road to a low carbon future can be paved with hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs as well as traditional jobs, including coal m...ining. Did you know that it takes more than 200 tonnes of coking coal to make the steel in every wind turbine. And Australia could be exporting 15.5 million tonnes of coking coal to build them by 2030. #HumeCoal #coalforjobs #coalforturbines #partofthesolution

10.01.2022 Mining has emerged as a saviour of drought-stricken regional communities supporting 160,000 jobs at a time when employment has dried up, with farmers relying on mining dollars as a secondary income stream. With farm exports down by one-fifth this year, mining is providing opportunities for families, towns and communities. 10.01.2022 The weather turned on a lovely sunny day for 25 students from the Gib Gate School who attended a presentation by Hume Coal at Mereworth House on Friday. The students got involved in a bit of role playing while asking questions about the project followed by a BBQ lunch and a whip cracking demonstration and talk by our Farm Manager. The students then spent some time running and playing on the lawn. #humecoal #whipcracking #projectupdate #partofthesolution

10.01.2022 When all is said and done, action for GHG and gas emissions is up to us. The graph below highlights the various sectors contributing to GHG emissions. When that is broken down into sources, as everyone knows coal is a contributor. While percentages vary depending on the research you read coal contributes about 25% to GHG emissions. Whereas Fuel contributes about 25% and Gas also contributes about 25%. What people dont really talk about is farming, forestry and clear...ing of land which contributes about 25%. In our rich market place we have never had so many choices for example how many types of cheeses, or milk do you have to choose from in the local supermarket. Really do we need such variety? While our population is (has) become obese with oversupply. As a signatory to the Paris agreement, emissions for burning of coal (known as Scope 3 emissions) have to be accounted for by the people or country who are using the coal (if they are also signatories to the Paris agreement). So if youre using electricity purchased from one of the key suppliers which source their energy from a coal fired power station, you are effectively responsible for those emissions. #HumeCoal #Jobs #communitywealth #partofthesolution

08.01.2022 Coal miners earn between $100,000 - $120,000 per year. Solar Panel Installer wages are approx. $45,000 per year. Do you think Australias coal miners would be willing to take a $75,000 pay cut in the push for climate change reform? Are there assurances there would be plenty of new high paying jobs in renewable energy? Labors environment spokeswomen Terri Butler says "Its not an equivalence to say therell be just as many jobs because what people really want is certainty, s...ecurity, they want to know the living standards they enjoy will be enjoyed by their children". #HumeCoal #jobs #earningpotential #partofthesolution

06.01.2022 JOBS FOR AUSTRALIANS Mining gives 240,000 Australians a job. And if you take into account the mining equipment, technology and services sector, which provides vital support to mining and minerals processing, the industry provides jobs for about 1.1 million people. The industry provides highly skilled, highly paid jobs while the taxes and royalties it pays support public services. #HumeCoal #Jobs #partofthesolution #moretomining

06.01.2022 Recently, we responded to an initial report into the Hume project by the Independent Planning Commission (IPC). This was lodged with the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. The main report can be found at: https://majorprojects.planningportal.nsw.gov.au//getConten... The response was a detailed analysis, backed by assessments by independent experts. However, to assist in summarising some of the key issues, Hume Coal has prepared a series of Technical Briefing Notes, to be progressively released before the middle of June 2020. These can be found on the Hume Coal website.

04.01.2022 KEEPING THE SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS CLEAN - PART 3 "Curiouser and curiouser", cried Alice! When Hume Coal first saw the rubbish and organised to go back and remove it, some good Samaritan had beaten us to half of it.... Or would Alice say they would just be looking after their self interest by removing incriminating evidence? Either way, lets just hope they disposed of it thoughtfully. Instead of sitting around whinging about Hume Coal, lets see if "Dont Ex-Hume Coal" has the guts to do the right thing and criticise the dumpers and their actions. #HumeCoal #dobinadumper #keepthesouthernhighlandsclean

04.01.2022 KEEP THE SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS CLEAN! - Part 1 ... to be continued..... As part of our water investigations Hume Coal undertakes monitoring of water at over 20 sites in and around our Exploration Lease. Someone has been deliberately targeting one site at Exeter. This isnt just dumping of rubbish, its deliberately targeting the inside of the compound. What grubs are doing this? Who is it that would spoil their own neighbourhood? This has been going on for years and the offe...nders (i.e. grubs) clearly think they have got away with it. Anyway we have reported this to Wingecarribee Shire Council on several occasions. As usual the Council does nothing! Wed be interested to hear from you what you think the Council should be doing. #HumeCoal #cleanupyouract #illegaldumping

04.01.2022 MYTHS ABOUT MINING - MYTH ONE Reports claiming the mining boom is over have misled some Australians about what is really happening. The past decade has seen the mining industry go through a period of expansion. Massive investment has supported many construction jobs as new mines, processing plants and infrastructure were built.... These operating mines are offering many new positions in the industry. More than 17,000 new jobs in the resources sector have been created since 2016. Hume Coal if approved, will also add to the job tally with 400 jobs during construction and 300+ full time jobs during the life of the mine. #HumeCoal #jobs #underground #notopencut #partofthesolution
