25.01.2022 It's all harvested! You can pre-order bunches of garlic to cure yourself at home from 6pm tonight on our website. https://huntlyorganics.com.au/order Bunches of either 12x small heads, 8x medium/large heads and 6x large/extra large heads are available for $24 each. We encourage you to buy 3 months supply. We have to make room for the elephant garlic in maybe another month!

25.01.2022 We have recently been chatting to Joel, who runs Young Farmers Connect (YFC) - Central Victoria about building stronger networks and support for young farmers. The Weekly Times spoke to us both last week about what we are up to and what we would like to help cultivate in Bendigo and beyond. Keep in mind that all farmers are young if they are under 65. Sorry over 65s, you're old farmers. But you can still join our group if you like.

22.01.2022 It's probably going to be another year before we can start out small orchard, but we managed to get in a plum tree and a nectarine tree so we can hopefully have some fruit a bit sooner. Planting tree's really makes the dream of owning our own farm seem real!

21.01.2022 The rains are finished! We are literally reduced to vacuuming the water out of some of our plots. It's drastic, but we have crops ready to go in and we need it to dry out as fast as possible.

21.01.2022 We legitimately just found out why we never have any strawberries anymore. She has been through every single bush and still going. Sorry about that.

20.01.2022 The "future" of agriculture ;)

20.01.2022 Farm to table. This big box of fresh, local and organically grown produce has just made it's way to Adam and Eve

19.01.2022 I'm happy to announce we are now accepting bitcoin as payment at all farmers markets. In fact, if you use bitcoin to purchase from us for the first time, I'll throw in a $4 product for free. We also support and appreciate the safe use of cash at our stall. We are happy to sterilize it and make using cash a comfortable experience. If you are a business owner, you will understand that a cashless society is a dangerous and fast approaching reality. For even a small business like... ours, that little 2% fee on every transaction adds up to thousands of dollars of our hard earned money going to the banks every year. We believe their CEOs 5th house, would look better as a tractor shed on our farm, or maybe even a camping holiday next year. We are still happy to accept cards, and realise that your convenience does matter, so there's no pressure. But if it doesn't make a difference to you, it will make a difference to us. Our views do no necessarily represent the views of the markets we attend, who encourage contactless card transactions as per the government guidelines. But Bitcoin is contactless too! See more

19.01.2022 Not today, you beast! (Off to the neighbours fields with you)

19.01.2022 Usually at 11pm at night:

18.01.2022 HO has a dog! This is Belle, a beautiful 4 year old kelpie we adopted today. She's settling in already

18.01.2022 Our first coriander seed trial seems pretty successful. I think we might have grown about a 6-12 month supply for the farm with one small crop. What do you all think? Ready to harvest?

17.01.2022 Great to see Reedy Creek flowing. We are doing some regen bush planting this weekend, thanks to Landcare Bendigo for donating for native bushes and trees!

17.01.2022 Lots of little natives planted, mulched and guarded down by Reedy Creek just in time for more rain. We probably have about the same again to put in tomorrow, so the 500 plugs are going to cover a bigger area than we estimated!

17.01.2022 That. Was. Insane. Ya'll just helped us finally finish saving for Emma's permanent residency. The produce doesn't just taste better. It's planted by humans, tended by humans, harvested, packed, bought, sold, eaten, paid for and earned by humans. Woolworths sucks. Shop local. Much love See you next time Bendigo Community Farmers' Market ! #nophotorequired

17.01.2022 The garlic is READY! Eat it fresh or make a braid and cure a years supply at home yourself! It has had zero sprays, and has been fed on a rich and diverse diet of composts and certified organic foliar sprays. Available at Bendigo Community Farmers' Market & Castlemaine Farmers' Market

16.01.2022 Wow! Our planting of 500 natives along Reedy Creek had finally been finished. Just in time for a quick spring rain to soak them in. Thanks to Northern Bendigo Landcare for providing trees, giving advice and sourcing materials for the project. Reedy Creek has the potential of being a truly beautiful cultural heritage and environmental landmark in Huntly North and we are grateful to be the stewards of this small part of it.

15.01.2022 Lots of variety harvested today! We will be bringing the following to Bendigo Community Farmers' Market tomorrow: Seasonal salad mix Baby spinach Broccolini Beetroot... Herb and salad mix Cavolo nero kale Curly kale Tokyo turnips Radish Silverbeet Rainbow Microgreens Coriander Dill Parsley Brussel sprout leaves (cooking) Pak choi Cabbage Cos lettuce Sooo much more on the way, including lots of heavier veg.

15.01.2022 Behold! The almighty gum.

12.01.2022 We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! Here is a few flowers from the gardens. We will catch you at the @castlemainefm on Wednesday, in the meantime keep warm!

11.01.2022 Save them seeds. Spring is coming and times don't need to be quite as hard as we might expect. Good food goes a long way.

10.01.2022 It's spring, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and you have literally no where else to go. Enjoy some outdoor shopping this morning at @castlemainefm PS. We brought our first spinach harvest along. You better get on it quick though!

10.01.2022 Well we did need some rain.. it's a good excuse to skip the weeding this week anyway!

10.01.2022 The first 1 linear bed kilometer of the new plot is planted. I hope ya'll really are hanging out for more local produce because it's in the ground! Onions, garlic, leek, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, spinach, salad, pak choi, cabbage, kale, herbs going in the field - and then tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, flowers, chilis, eggplant and more going in the greenhouse. It's coming!!!!

10.01.2022 ASKING A FAVOUR Hey everyone, is there anyone among us who travels weekly to Castlemaine from Bendigo? (On either Sat/Sun/Mon). One of our excellent customers in Castlemaine is going through our produce so fast that they could really use a regular second weekly delivery over spring and summer. Happy to pay or trade produce for the service. Because it is a fresh product, we would need someone who was reliable and gave us plenty of notice if their plans changed. Thanks!

08.01.2022 Spring onions are coming on strong. Taste them, just hours out of the soil! Swing by and see Emma at Bendigo Community Farmers' Market today from 3pm.

07.01.2022 Shout out to McCullochs Hydraulic Engineers in Epsom for getting our tractor back to us within a couple days after it broke down at a very busy time of year. It's finally potato time!

06.01.2022 There's a new veggie shop in town! Evan the organic greengrocer has been working hard on finding every local producer in the area to bring you a great range of fresh produce. Note: the shop is focussing on featuring local producers, not just organically focused producers. But if that's a concern for you, it's still a great organic range now, and you will see much more of a selection from our farm in the future.

04.01.2022 Bendigo friends can find our salad and micros well stocked at @organics_bendigo while the farmers market is closed over the next few weeks. Castlemaine Market customers, I'm leaving now. See you after 3.30!

03.01.2022 #fieldcouture day 94 #alwayswasalwayswillbe We're honoured to grow on Dja Dja Wurrung land with love and do all we can to leave it better than we found it;... knowing that before our white ancestors came this country was bountiful and well managed for hundreds of thousands of years. The mountain looking over us is named Leanganook, the stories it must hold . #naidocweek2020 See more

02.01.2022 We transplanted 16,000 seedlings today and yesterday (and not with a tractor!). For reference, I was pretty chuffed about planting 3752 seedlings in one go back in May. I worked out I probably walked about 7km just walking up and down the beds and fetching trays. Pics coming tomorrow. This is the photo from May.

02.01.2022 We were honored to appear as a 5 page feature article in Bendigo Magazine Summer 2020. I'm a little late on the uptake (only just got hold of a copy). It really speaks to what the farm is about and I hope you will give it a read! Link in the comments
