25.01.2022 We had a great turn out to our first class of Winter! It was cold , it was rainy , but our class stuck it out and spent some quality time learning with their dogs. Thanks everyone for their dedication! See you next week

25.01.2022 That moment when you’re having a great time on the couch and realise that you forgot your appointment! Oops!! As we come into Christmas, we understand that life gets hectic. Unfortunately, this may mean that you forget an appointment with us or need to cancel. As we are currently booked out well ahead for our private lessons, boarding and group classes, we just ask that you give us plenty of notice if you need to reschedule. If you forget your appointment, do not show up or need to cancel/reschedule it within 24 hours, you will be required to pay the full amount and pre-pay for your next appointment. We know that these things happen, but please value our time as much as we do yours.

23.01.2022 This lovely young dog is looking for a responsible home. She's very active and will need someone who wants to do some type of training with her. We are offering 4 free group classes to get the ball rolling for whoever is lucky enough to have her. Contact the number on the flyer for more information.

23.01.2022 Here for a good time, not a long time

22.01.2022 As 2019 draws to a close, we would like to share with you some of our favourite photos from the year. From Big Annie to Tiny Walter, we have enjoyed the company of so many wonderful dogs 2019 was a great year for Huon Valley K9. We worked with a fantastic team of people to successfully develop some great puppies into police/corrections dogs. We worked with many dedicated dog owners to help them stop reactivity, increase obedience and to enjoy more quality time together. We... also finished building our boarding kennel and are now taking bookings for 2020 It has been such a rewarding year for us and we would like to thank everybody for their support this year. We appreciate your business and thank you for putting your trust in us. We hope everyone has a safe and happy new year and look forward to working with you in 2020 We would love it if you would share with us your favourite photo of your dogs that you took this year there is no such thing as too many dog photos!

22.01.2022 After our post last night, we have had a few people ask if we are ok. Yes! We are great. We are not sick and we are in a very fortunate position to be able to sensibly pause our business so we can prepare to help IF we are needed. Due to our lucky position, we think it is important that we do our best to help look after each other during these times when the media are doing their best to spread fear and panic. We are so lucky to live in this amazing community and our experts ...are keeping our most vulnerable safe. We want to be ready to help those experts and vulnerable people, again, only if we are needed. We are working on a number of ways we can help by calmly making sure that we don’t get in anyone’s way or cause anyone more work. So everybody please, look after yourselves, your neighbours, the vulnerable in our community and please give your dogs all a pat from us. We will see you all soon. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you need help or just a reassuring chat. See more

17.01.2022 Thanks to those who came to our last group class of 2019. We have had a great time this year working with everyone. We are taking a break for 2 weeks and will be back at group class on the 5th of January. We hope you all get to spend some quality time with your family.

14.01.2022 Despite Charlie’s disapproval, Huon Valley K9 will be taking a short break from group classes and private lessons but our boarding services will be running as usual. Although we will not be out in group classes or private lessons, we still want to be able to give you advice on training your dogs and help you with their behaviour. As such, we are offering $30 video lessons, which you can watch over and over to help you train your dogs. For more information on these video lessons, please send us a Facebook message or email us at [email protected]. We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

10.01.2022 It is great to see the progress that Wags has made since him and his mum started coming to our group classes. When I first met Wags, he was a lovely, but very cheeky boy . Thanks to all the effort that Erin has put in, here he is able to control himself in our group class. Well done guys, and thanks for all your effort and determination

08.01.2022 This sweet girl is looking for a new home. Summer requires a home that is active and able to include her in their lifestyle. Summer needs a home where she will not be around small animals, livestock and wildlife, however, she is fine with other large, calm dogs and great with kids. Summer needs an owner who is physically able to walk her and hold onto her and is willing to meet her mental and physical needs. She will require regular grooming and brushing a couple of times a ...week. Summer is in the process of being trained with Huon Valley K9 and the new owners will receive support from us through a private lesson or block of group classes to make sure that she transitions smoothly into her new home. You will be required to commit to and follow through with her training using an E-collar to ensure that you can safely control her and recall her under distraction. Summer’s adoption fee is $500. If you think Summer may be for you, please send us an email at [email protected] with some further details about your family, your home and other pets. Please do not call us as we require your expression of interest in writing.

07.01.2022 Fax is very excited to announce that we are re-commencing private lessons from the 18th May and Group Classes from the 27th May 2020. Private lessons will mainly be held at the Ranelagh Showgrounds, however, some exceptions may be made for those who require in home training. As we are still under strict advice to have gatherings of no more than 10 people at a time, we have had to change our group class structure slightly to ensure that we are adhering to these guidelines at a...ll times. From the 27th May, each dog that attends our group class must only have 1 human handler. Any other family members must stay at home or in the car. Secondly, we now require you to book a spot in our 5 week blocks. Classes are still $30 each, however, we require payment up front for the 5 week block (27th May to 24th June or 31st May to 28th June). Once that block has finished, you can re-enrol for the next block. This ensures that we always are under the 10 person threshold for a public gathering. Classes will be limited to 7 people max so please get in touch if you would like to book a spot in our first block. We will be in touch with all those who have contacted us over the break. Once the classes are full, any additional people who express interest will be put on a waiting list until another spot arises. We suggest that people who miss out on a spot in our group class block book a private lesson or video lesson to start training in the meantime. We would like to thank everyone for their patience over this period and looking forward to getting back training with you all.

05.01.2022 Apologies if anyone has been trying to get in touch with us by phone last night or today - our phone service is out. If you would like to contact us, please send us a facebook message or email. Sorry for the inconvenience.

04.01.2022 One of the most rewarding parts of our job to see working dogs in action. Some of you would remember that Huon Valley K9 participated in the police puppy development program run in conjunction with Jolanda at Garsova Working Line German Shepherds and members of Tasmania Police. HVK9 personally fostered Quake through the program until he was ready to start his career with the NT Police. Quake has recently graduated his police training course and is already doing great work with his handler in the community. We are super thankful that we had the opportunity to work with the development program and are really proud of Quake and what he has achieved. Go Quake!

03.01.2022 Hi Guys, just a reminder that there will be no group class on this Wednesday 19th February. We will be back for class on Sunday! Have a great week

03.01.2022 Hi everyone, we are away for the next week and will be returning on the 1st October. We will endeavour to get back to you then.

02.01.2022 Merry Christmas from us here at Huon Valley K9! We hope Santa was as kind to you as he was to us!!

01.01.2022 We would like to announce the successful completion of the Police Puppy Development program! Over the past 11 months, we have been working closely with Garsova Working Line German Shepherds and members from Tasmania Police to develop 4 puppies to become working dogs. Huon Valley K9 personally fostered Quake, while the 3 other dogs were fostered by active members of Tasmania Police. Huon Valley K9’s role has been to develop and provide the training to both the dogs and handler...s. 2 dogs are headed to Northern Territory Police and the others are heading up to Queensland Correctional Services. It has been a team effort and together we have had some great results. Huon Valley K9 would firstly like to thank Jolanda from Garsova Working Line German Shepherds for supplying the wonderful dogs. Her dedication to breeding dogs with great genetics makes our job that much easier. We would also like to thank the Tasmania Police members who volunteered their time to foster and work with the dogs. Your commitment to the program has been fantastic and their success is thanks to your efforts. Lastly, we would like to thank Mishelle Denches from Victoria Police for her feedback and advice throughout the program it is great to get experienced and knowledgeable feedback from someone actively working in the job. We have absolutely loved working with Quake and seeing him develop and grow. We will definitely miss him here at Huon Valley K9, but knowing that he is heading into a job which he will love and be fulfilled in is very satisfying. Good Luck to Quake, Bahloo, Rocket & Raffa on their next adventure.
