23.01.2022 After serious consideration we have decided to allow all South West club games to continue this weekend as scheduled. We would however encourage all players to... only attend their allocated games and then leave the premises immediately after their games conclusion. Any player feeling unwell and presenting with flu like symptoms MUST NOT ATTEND their game. Avoid HI FIVES and opt for elbow bumps instead. Players, wash your hands with soap after your games. Please take this seriously and consider the health and well-being of your fellow Pirates. Lets keep each other safe. Keith Anthony - President SWMBI

19.01.2022 From SouthWest: Hi All, We are coming up to the time in the competition when the new rule under 1.7 may affect a lot of players ... 1.7 (c) Players may only play a maximum of six (6) games in another division within their own age group. After the sixth game is played in a players genuine age division, the player is then restricted to that division solely and cannot play again in the other lower division. For example, an U14 player is listed in the SportsTG CourtSide team list in the Purple division. Due to his Clubs U14 Gold team being short of players, he plays for that team to help out. However, if the same player has helped out on six occasions already, and he is required to play in the Gold team for a seventh game, he cannot return to his Purple team and must continue with the Gold team only.

Our local club games that were held over the weekend was very well controlled and it was very good to see athletes, parents, coaches and the likes following the procedures and minimising risks with good hygiene, not loitering and minimising presence on the sidelines. We have posted a number of signs at Hibiscus to educate and inform our patrons on the methods of maintaining good hygiene and information issued by Qld health on COVID19. The Australian Government has asked for Social Distance and no Mass Gatherings (500 people or more) Queensland Health is still okay for all schools and work places to stay open for now, so South West will continue to keep their doors open and continue business as usual until further advised. Parents/Coaches/Managers/Players and all association members, please understand that you do not have to attend training schedules and or games if you do not wish to expose your children and or yourselves to any potential risks the choice is totally your own. ** please note we have not have had any confirmed cases of anyone suffering from the virus in our association ** Preventative measures to reduce your risk of infection Clean hands frequently with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow Avoid close contact (1 metre) with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms Symptoms that people may experience Runny nose Sore throat Cough Fever Difficulty breathing (severe cases) SWM President-Keith Anthony

04.01.2022 In the midst of MJs "The Last Dance" release last night.... Most of the documentary is made by interviews based on peoples memory. Check this Newspaper clipping out.... Bulls didnt really want Michael Jordan and wished he was 7 foot tall.... Not memory but real time (at the time) recollection... The rest is history! For all Hurricanes players out there.... Go out there and do your thing... You dont have to be big to PLAY BIG! Like MJ, we are not usually a tall club... But we certainly dont let that stop us from being our best. Keep Grinding and Being a Student of the Game. Thats what MJ did! Be ready when the comp starts up again! - Ronnie #GrindOverMatter #RiseAbove #HurrICANesBasketball

02.01.2022 Another excellent post from Aussie champ and former NBA player Chris Anstey. Thanks Chris Anstey! I remember back in the days when only EA had the game... Had Chris in my line up on NBA Live. Chris was playing stretch 4/5 before it was even a thing... Great shooting touch.... I thought another two lessons learned from Chris post were: 1. Even the NBA pros get nervous and/or anxious playing in a big game. Breakthrough your feelings and play your game... Follow the plan. 2. Be ready!... Even if you dont get to play the first half.... Be ready for when your number is called up. Coach needs players that step up in big games. KEEP GRINDING during this lockdown. So when we get back into the the grind... Youre ready! #TheySleepWeGrind #WinTheGrind #IAmTheStorm #HurrICANesBasketball - Ronnie
