23.01.2022 After a morning drill with one of our local stations- @frnsw_29arncliffe- on Road Accident Rescue, both our pump and heavy rescue responded with Kogarah Fire Truck to a motor vehicle accident (MVA) with persons reported. On arrival we found a car on its side and another parked car damaged from the impact. Luckily all persons were out of the vehicle and were treated by @nswambulance while @nswpolice took care of traffic control.... #firefighters #firetruck #rescue #chiefmiller #mva #caraccident

20.01.2022 ALARMING RESCUE Firefighter have thanked local residents of Penshurst who called 000 when they heard their neighbours smoke alarm operating. Attempts to contact the lady were unsuccessful and fire crews from Hurstville (Pumper and Rescue) and Mortdale (Pumper) responded within minutes.... Firefighters gained entry to the unit to find it heavily smoke logged but located and removed a lady whom was suffering an unrelated medical episode. The fire was fortunately stopped in its early stages. Thank you to NSW Ambulance paramedics and NSW Police who attended to assist and the lady is recovering in hospital. Did you know that the risk of fatality is halved when you have a working smoke alarm? We will even come to your house and conduct a Home Fire Safety Check, call your local fire station for details.

18.01.2022 Rescue Incident: Pet Bird Bluey had flown the coup and his owner managed to recapture him. No story there one might say, except Bluey’s owner was now stuck 10 metres high, perched on the roof of a church. With the help of Fire and Rescue NSW Station 021 Kogarah and their Bronto, both Bird and owner were safely returned to the ground.

17.01.2022 Our Pump and Heavy Rescue responded to a Unit Fire this evening with Mortdale Fire Station. Quick thinking by the occupants prevented what could have been a tragic outcome. When a bar heater was found on fire in a toddlers room, quick extinguishment and evacuation prevented fire spread and injury. Firefighters ventilated the unit and checked for fire spread as well as provided first aid prior to the arrival of an ambulance.... #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #firefighter #firetruck #unitfire #fire #fireandrescuensw @frnswmedia

17.01.2022 Meet our Crew Station Officer (SO) Burchmore, was a firey at Hurstville before leaving for a stint at other stations, and coming back as an SO. He loves his herb garden and looking after his lawns and is an avid golfer. He can usually be found pottering in the garden and is a carpenter by trade- you can see his handiwork at some stations around the state with custom fire station tables.... #meetthecrew #firefighter #carpenter #gardening #rescue

12.01.2022 RAMSGATE | More than 30 firefighters contained a fire at a house in Ramsgate that threatened to spread to neighbouring properties late yesterday afternoon. The ...firefighters from multiple stations across Sydney’s south attended the scene of the fire on Ramsgate Road before 5pm to find it well alight following numerous calls to Triple Zero (000). Firefighters extinguished the fire approximately an hour after arrival, however the house was totally destroyed. Two residents were treated by NSW Ambulance and taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and traffic was heavily impacted in the area. Investigations into the cause are continuing, but it is a timely reminder to ensure your house is fitted with a working smoke alarm. By calling Triple Zero (000) to report a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or property being saved or destroyed. #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

10.01.2022 If you thought the Harbour tunnel traffic this morning was horrendous...it’s probably because of this car fire At 0900am we are called to a car fire Northboun...d in the Sydney Harbour tunnel. We responded with P53, P3, P11 and Duty commander North. RP36 responded to the tunnel control centre and worked with the control operators to determine the location and intensity of the car fire. The traffic was stopped both directions and we tasked P53 with fire attack and they extinguished the car and fuel fire. Luckily the driver escaped and no one was injured. It’s always interesting to work with the tunnel control operators to oversee all the features and protocols they use to ensure the safety of cars and bystanders when there is a fire. For instance they have a deluge system and a ventilation system that are a huge assistance when there is a fire in the tunnel. We have done many drills in the harbour tunnel but the tunnel operators knowledge and assistance made the incident run efficiently and safely for all involved. #preparedforanything #FRNSW #harbourtunnel #carfire #sydney Fire and Rescue NSW Station 003 The Rocks Fire and Rescue NSW Station 053 Neutral Bay Fire and Rescue NSW Fire and Rescue NSW Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches Command ME2 See more

10.01.2022 Firefighters monitor child as they gain access to unit. Today firefighters were called to a unit where the wind slammed closed a door locking a mother out from her small child. Police and firefighters responded and used a small camera to watch the child whilst firefighters scaled a large ladder and made entry through a balcony. ... Hydraulic door opening tools remained at the ready should the little one approach any danger. Luckily both the door and our little friend were unharmed which is an outcome we love. Don’t be afraid to call 000 for help when a child may be in danger. These things happen and we are prepared for anything. #MoreThanFire #preparedforanything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable Fire and Rescue NSW

10.01.2022 Both our appliances attended reports of a motor vehicle accident with persons trapped this afternoon. Reports were that the car had crashed into house. 09.01.2022 BASE JUMP I #DouglasPark Shortly before 4pm today Sydney Fire Communications - Fire Rescue NSW - 801 Station 000 operators received calls from motorist on the... Hume Highway Bridge at Douglas Park reporting to a person having jumped from the bridge. A full scale emergency response was launched with Fire and Rescue NSW Station 093 Narellan Primary Rescue Unit responded to conduct rescue operations. Once on scene Fire and Rescue Crews were unable to locate the person and it was discovered that this was a thrill seeker who had decided to base jump from the bridge and ran away in an awaiting vehicle. Apart from this being a terrible call from emergency services to be responded to we are always concerned about the members of the public who witnessed this incident and assumed the worst that someone had jumped from the bridge. Please consider your thrill seeking actions and how they may affect innocent passers by before you decide to put your self at risk. If anyone needs help at anytime or has witnessed an incident and would like some help please feel free to call any of the widely available help lines. Lifeline 13 11 14 Beyond Blue 1300 22 46 36

08.01.2022 We woke this morning to very dramatic footage of a catastrophic explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. News is now starting to surface that many of those killed were fir...efighters from the surrounding area who were dealing with the initial fire- which lead to the explosion. As a department with Lebanese emigrants currently working today in stations across NSW we keep these firefighters as well as their city and their country in our thoughts. See more

03.01.2022 Fire and Rescue NSW 020 Hurstville and Fire and Rescue 021 Kogarah were responded to assist FRNSW Fire Investigation and Research Unit removing a burnt out van out of an underground garage. The fire happened in the early hours at Rockdale. Crews had to use the Holmatro Spreaders to manoeuvre the van onto car wheel dollys. We were then able to push the van out for the towing company.

03.01.2022 Today we had a visit from a FRNSW family member. Ryan Sweikert son of 6532 Station Officer Greg Sweikert dropped in to say hi. Unfortunately SO Sweikert passed away in 2001, but Ryan has fond memories of the Station. It was good to chat and remember a well loved member of our Firefighting family. Thanks for dropping in Ryan.

03.01.2022 Helping out our Colleagues from 048 Station. This little Kitten warmed the walls up from the inside, making him easy to locate via the thermal imaging camera. Some precise entry into the wall cavity safely removed the trapped bundle of fur.

03.01.2022 Today we met with all the lovely children at Bridge Street Kids Early Learning Centre. Our Pre-Ed program is marvellous in helping them understand basic Fire Safety. We had a lot of fun, here’s a short clip of the session.

02.01.2022 Big thanks and so much respect for our brothers and sisters in blue

02.01.2022 This photo is awesome! This is what an SO (Station Officer) would see when they get out of the truck after sending a message to Comms (Communications or Fire Comms) - the crew is on fire attack, the Motor Driver is operating their pump (water supply) and the area has been cleared of casualties/bystanders/victims to ensure safety. Love your work 92!
