25.01.2022 HVP Plantations is conducting silvicultural burning operations in Gippsland today, between Rosedale and Longford. The heaps and windrows being burnt is made up of unsalvageable branches and small logs, resulting from a bushfire in January 2019. Smoke may be visible for a number of days, and neighbours may see additional works vehicles travelling around inspecting and monitoring the sites. ... All burns are registered with VicFire, but do not currently appear on the ‘VicEmergency’ platforms or Planned Burns Victoria website. For firefighter and stakeholder safety, we ask that community members do not enter the burn areas until further notice.

25.01.2022 HVP employees and contractors have been working closely with Hancock Queensland Plantations (HQP), Hancock Forest Management NZ (HFMNZ) and DELWP in fighting bushfires across Victoria as far afield as Dartmoor, Bright and Cudgewa VIC. This massive collaborative effort has strengthened our ability to control and suppress fires and help protect local communities and our plantations. Please continue to follow the Vic Emergency app for updates.

24.01.2022 HVP Plantations plays a vital role in the Victorian forestry industry and is continuing to keep wood flowing to our customers to keep the industry, and the thousands of regional jobs that depend on it, rolling. Our priority is the health and well-being of our employees and their families, and we are adopting measures to minimise the exposure and spread of COVID-19. Most of our employees are working from home, however all staff are still contactable on phone and email.... While our regional offices remain open with minimal staff, we ask our communities to please not visit these offices. We hope that everyone stays safe and healthy over the coming months.

23.01.2022 HVP continues to work hard on fire suppression. We value all the support from our staff, contractors and community over the past 2 weeks. Protection for the communities surrounding HVP plantations is critical, and we are working hard to bring control to the fires in the plantations across our estate. We continue to urge everyone to follow the Vic Emergency app for updates.

20.01.2022 It is uplifting to see signs of ecosystem regeneration within HVP's bushfire affected areas. The resilience of the Australian landscape echoes the resilience of HVP staff, contractors and our associated companies working tirelessly to protect our plantations, wildlife and native bush habitat, and local communities. We embrace these small signs of recovery as we remain vigilant through this fire season.... Thank you for your support.

20.01.2022 World Environment Day Today, June 5th is World Environment Day https://www.worldenvironmentday.global/... At HVP Plantations, we don't just manage planted pine and eucalyptus crops, we also manage, maintain, and enhance more than 48,000 hectares of native forest. We do not harvest any native forest, but HVP staff practice a 'care for nature' attitude through all their daily plantation management activities across the entire HVP estate. One example of this 'care for nature' attitude was a recent effort to eliminate exotic pest plants like common blackberry within the bushfire impacted native forests in the Ovens Valley near Carboor, VIC. This effort lasted 5 weeks and covered more than 350 hectares - that's the size of more than 200 MCG ovals! By removing blackberry from these forests, native plant species are more likely to germinate and recolonise forests after the bushfire impact. Increasing native plants allows native biodiversity to flourish. At HVP, we strive to manage all the forest assets of the Company to deliver optimal value to our investors and responsible stewardship of these forests for economic, environmental and social benefits. HVP has many other active stewardship projects across the entire estate, from enhancing rare ecological vegetation areas in southwest Victoria to supporting conservation research for iconic Australian wildlife like the South Gippsland koala population commonly referred to as 'The Strzelecki koala'. Check out the Grey-headed flying foxes in SW Vic! At HVP, we don't just do things for the environment on one specific day, we practice good stewardship of the environment everyday. 11.01.2022 PLANTING OF VEGETATION CORRIDORS SUPPORTS LOCAL WILDLIFE Almost 70 hectares of land is being revegetated near one of the region’s most popular tourist attractio...ns to support the movement and protection of native wildlife. As part of a decade long restoration plan, forest owners HVP Plantations in consultation with the Nature Glenelg Trust are revegetating two sites bordering its Rennick pine estate, the Palpara campsite and Honeysuckle-Airstrip, in an effort to create habitat corridors. Located on the state border, both sites are in close proximity to the popular Princess Margaret Rose Caves and Lower Glenelg National Park which attract tens of thousands of tourists annually. 09.01.2022 HVP is now underway with the massive task of salvaging fire damaged material within our Northern Region plantations. The salvage harvest program will involve intense coordination with our crews over the next 6 12 months. On top of the harvest, there will be haulage operating, general road/plantation maintenance; and, down the track, replanting. We extend our gratitude to our staff, contractors and associated businesses who have helped fight fires in this area, and value the support being provided during our current salvage efforts.
