09.01.2022 Our second finalist for the 2020 HVTC Safety Champion is Piper James, an electrical apprentice hosted by South 32. Piper is extremely diligent when it comes to safety. Piper ensures she is always wearing the required PPE, following the mine site policies and procedures and most importantly assessing risk when undertaking any tasks. Piper was recognised at a site toolbox talk for her diligence in completing the TAKE 2 and the detail in which she completes these. To be recogni...sed in this manner in front of mine workers, tradespeople and her peers as a first-year electrical apprentice in the short time she has been at site is testament to her commitment to her apprenticeship and safety as a priority. She is certainly walking the talk regarding safety. After an incident earlier this year, Piper notified her Field Officer ASAP. This enabled us to ensure support was available to Piper and a quick return to site. Piper has a full understanding of incident reporting and again an example of following policy and procedure. #HVTCsafetychampion #safeworkmonth #safetytogether #skillschangelives
