20.01.2022 Vivien, the joint owner of Sylvania Travel & Cruise met the Prime Minister recently and discussed the dire situation of the travel agent. The PM is well aware travel agents have NO product to sell in the foreseeable future and that our once amazing job of building dream holidays for our clients has been reduced to debt collecting. We appreciate the customers and staff who have supported us through this time and acknowledge that everyone has lost in some form.

19.01.2022 The Cronulla Meeting in Scott Morrison’s local office was held 15September. In attendance, Vivien & Sonia, Joint Manager/owner & Sisters, Sylvania Travel & Cruise Helloworld retail office, Danielle Galloway, General Manager Flight Centre Luxury Brands, Tom Mcgann, Mcgann Travel a Helloworld corporate office and CEO of AFTA, (Australian Federation of Travel Agents) Darren Rudd. We met via telephone link with 3 senior advisors in Canberra from Scott Morrison’s office. Each ...of us gave our perspective and ideas for the future of a travel agent and expressed the Urgency of the AFTA submission currently with treasury. Sylvania Travel & Cruise has been located in Southgate Shopping Centre for 23 years, employs 11 local people and has successfully supplied travel services to the local community over this period. We now have NO product to sell, which means NO income to pay the bills, thank goodness for Jobkeeper and Southgate’s leniency with rent payments. We are doing our best to recover refunds although can not give you money back until we receive it from the suppliers. Our professional fee that was earned up to 2 years ago, at the time of initial consultation is non refundable. Everyone is losing, especially us as we work for FREE and lose money to recover your money, so please THINK before you accuse us of keeping your money or taking too long to return the funds and PLEASE do not keep calling us as the team doesn’t need anymore mental stress than what we already have. When we return to booking we will only take on the customers that have supported us through COVID.

15.01.2022 South Australia is now OPEN for bookings! Fantastic news, with border restrictions for the tourism market to be lifted from midnight 23 September. Travellers from New South Wales will no longer be required to quarantine upon arrival to South Australia from that time, dependent on no new cases of community transmission today and tomorrow.... Making the announcement, the Premier Steven Marshall said the decision to lift border restrictions to NSW would benefit families and businesses across the two jurisdictions. I know there are many people in South Australia, and many in New South Wales, who will be absolutely delighted by the lifting of this restriction. This is a relief that is going to be felt across our state, from an economic perspective, from a job perspective, from a family reunification perspective, he said. The SATC is now actively marketing in NSW, and we are planning some key PR activities to drive NSW visitation to our state. As with all announcements on lifting of borders, I know airlines will now be making plans to put on more flights between our two states, and I look forward to helping fill as many inbound flights seats as possible.

03.01.2022 You can travel to NORFOLK ISLAND from 1 October 2020. Great news for people living in N.S.W and the ACT who are wanting to visit our beautiful island. MEDIA RELEASE Removal of quarantine requirement for travellers from NSW and ACT from October 1st.... The EMT met to consider the current quarantine requirement for travellers to the island from New South Wales (NSW) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) on Thursday. There are no active cases in the ACT and the level of community transmission in NSW remains very low. Providing there are no major changes associated with the risk from people from these areas, from the 1st of October it has been decided that the existing blanket 14-day quarantine requirement will be removed for travellers from NSW and the ACT. Travellers from NSW and ACT local government areas that meet the proposed Commonwealth hotspot definition will not be granted an Entry Pass. The existing ban for travellers from Victoria will remain and reviewed by EMT when the risk from this State is also regarded as low. The Commonwealth trigger for consideration of a COVID-19 hotspot in a metropolitan area is the rolling 3-day average (average over 3 days) is 10 locally acquired cases per day. This equates to over 30 cases in 3 consecutive days. The Commonwealth trigger for consideration of a COVID-19 hotspot in a rural or regional area is the rolling 3-day average (average over 3 days) is 3 locally acquired cases per day. This equates to 9 cases over 3 consecutive days. Changes to the Entry Pass system to reflect these changes will be made prior to October 1st.
