On the crest of the Gnadenfrei North vineyard we’re crop thinning our young Grenache. Liam may struggle to heat his falafels for lunch, but he’s deft with the snips and will assess each vine to regulate crop load, and balance the fruit to vegetative growth. So there’s no snoozing on the job! . With some respite from the recent rain it was now or never to put our tractors through their paces not to mention a newly fabricated undervine mower (... because Damien can !) and a larger than life slasher that defies logic by slipping into our rows with only inches to spare. .... With almost a week’s worth of undervine mowing, the slasher returns organic matter back under the vines, restoring some semblance of visual order and calm .
